Tonight’s episode of Survivor Cook Islands certainly proved to be an interesting one and had a few twists and turns that I definitely wasn’t expecting. Now, on to the recap:
The Aitutaki tribes members start the show off by sitting around their camp talking about Billy’s supposed “love at first sight” bought with Christina. What an idiot, if he wasn’t going home already, that stupid comment was certainly the nail in his coffin.
Over at the Puka beach some spear fishing is happening and a fair amount of fish are falling victim to speary-wrath and Cao Boi is rambling on about something, naturally. Brad’s getting really sick of listening to Cao Boi ramble on all the time and has taken to blocking him out. I have to admit, I liked Cao Boi at first for his excentric nature, but now he’s just annoying me. Sorry buddy.
At the Rarotonga beach tree mail is being broken out and it mentions something about using your brains and baun to further your stay in the game. Kind of early for a challenge though, wonder what that could mean? Oooooooh, I know what it means:
Tribal Change Up:
In an interesting twist of events, all four teams meet Jeff Probst for waht they think is a challenge, but walk into a full out tribal switcheroo. Yul returns from Exile Island (having found the immunity idol, I remind you) and all the teams are seperated into two rows, men and women.
Jeff Probst comes around with a sack and gets all the male Survivors to pick a tile out of the bag and to hide it in the palm of their hands. Jeff then grabs a seperate bag and pulls the same trick with the female Survivor. Interesting.
All of the Survivors show their tiles and the ones with X’s are selected as new team captains. The captains come out as:
- Cecilia
- Parvati
- Brad
- Jonathan
The two men and two women then throw down some rock, paper, scissors action to see who gets to pick for their team first. The teams ended up coming out as:
Cecilia’s Team:
- Flicka (Jessica)
- Sundra
- Becky
- Candice
Parvati’s Team:
- Jenny
- Christina
- Rebecca
- Stephanie
Brad’s Team:
- JP
- Nate
- Adam
Jonathan’s Team:
- Yul
- Ozzy
- Cao Boi
Right off the bat it’s very easy to tell that Jonathan’s team of Survivors is by and far superior to all the other teams, but wait! It’s not over yet.
Jeff Probst hands eggs out to all four team captains and tells them all to squeeze them as hard as they can. Pop! Red or Blue dye shoots everywhere, designating which male team will be merging with which female team. The results of the explosive egg smush of doom are:
Red Team:
Beach: Rarotonga
- Cecilia
- Flicka (Jessica)
- Sundra
- Becky
- Candice
- Jonathan
- Yul
- Ozzy
- Cao Boi
Blue Team:
Beach: Aitutaki
- Parvati
- Jenny
- Christina
- Rebecca
- Stephanie
- Brad
- JP
- Nate
- Adam
Let the games begin!
As soon as both teams return to their respective beachs the blue team starts to socialize, chatting it up and sharing stories, while Cecilia leads a guided tour of the Aitutaki beach. Very stewardess like.
Someone, I think Parvati (but I forget for sure), mentions to Christina that Billy fell in love with her at first sight and that he thought they both mouthed “I love you” to eachother at some point. Christina, completely dumbfounded, can hardly believe it and says the only time she said anything remotely close was when she dropped a pity “love you” to Billy’s team for losing the challenge. Ha! Nice!
Let the alliances and manipulation begin!
Jonathan, Candice, Becky and Yul form an alliance right off the bat and hope to bring either Ozzy or Flicka (Jessica) into the group to give them the numbers. In the process of forming the alliance, Yul tells Becky, as a gesture of trust (yeah, right, brilliant strategy move more like), that he found the immunity idol while on Exile Island.
Flip to the other teams beach and Nate is out spear fishing, only he catches himself much more than a poor, innocent little fishy, he nails an Octopus! He can’t manage to maneuver it in by himself so he yells for help and the rest of the boys come to the rescue and they drag the octopus in to shore. Lots of meat. What a catch!
Immunity Challenge:
Boring! At least when they take ideas from old Survivor challenges they usually change them up a bit or add a little flare, but apparently the producers of Survivor couldn’t be bother to do that this year and just decided to do a challenge exactly the same as a previous years challenge.
- All Survivors are clipped together on a single line, each one of them is carrying a 15lbs bag of sand.
- The first tribe to boot it around the circle quick enough to catch and tackle a member of the opposing team wins.
In a rather bold, although damn smart move (or so I thought at least), all the Survivor women of the red team unhook right off the bat and drop their loads on the men, hoping that, even though they have to carry more weight, they’d be strong enough and fast enough to catch the other team quickly. Man did that not go as planned!
It doesn’t take long for the blue team to follow suit, though they weighted it out just long enough to keep the guys more energized than the red team.
There was just one major flaw in the red teams strategy, and his name was Cao Boi. He just couldn’t keep pace or really move at all and, as a result, he got draged down by the blue team.
The blue team wins Immunity and also gets to select who, from the red team, is sent to exile island. The blue team chooses to send Candice to exile island. Um… okay, interesting choice, not my personal choice, but sure, whatever.
One thing the blue team did manage to do, without knowing it, is completely screw Yul and Jonanthans alliance and plans. Awwwwwww, now what you gonna do, suckas?
After a whole lot of posturing, pushing, pressuring and persuading, the red teams heads off to:
Tribal Council:
The usual small talk goes down, Jeff Probst asking random questions, gauging the general feel of the tribe, ect. Then we get down to the dirty and the votes get cast:
- Yul votes Cecilia
- Cecilia votes Becky
- Becky votes Cecilia
- Ozzy votes Becky
- Jonathan votes Cecilia
- The remainder of the votes weren’t shown
Jeff Probst reads the votes and we get:
- Cecilia
- Becky
- Becky
- Cecilia
- Cecilia
- Becky
- Cecilia
- Cecilia
Cecilia is the next person to be voted off Survivor Cook Islands.
