Big Brother 14 Episode 16

Much drama led us nowhere in Big Brother 14 Episode 15 as Joe and Wil remained on the block.

Frank just kept his alliance all safe. So what’s the first thing they do? Talk about how they have to win HOH because they can’t trust him. Perhaps it wouldn’t have been such a bad idea to trash his alliance. But not by going after Dan. Britney’s doing the most talking, and lopping Shane’s head off would isolate her.

Not waiting around for Ian to make another move and wanting to get some information about Wil’s safety, Ashley asks Frank out on an ice cream date. During the date, Frank asks her to make out on the couch for a while. Somehow, this works, and she seems to have forgotten all about Wil.

Wil continues to talk about one big group getting ready to pick him off. He’s not doing himself any favors.

Jeff is back minus Jordan, but they’re living together now. He’s pulling for Ian, as the strong players tend to go strong for a while then get it in the back at the end.

Votes
Ashley: Joe
Boogie: Wil
Danielle: Wil
Jenn: Joe
Dan: Wil
Britney: Wil
Shane: Wil
Ian: Wil

Ashley remains loyal, but it’s largely symbolic, while Jenn is just as in the dark as Joe was last week. By a vote of 6-2, Wil has been evicted from the Big Brother house.

The HOH competition will have them running back and forth on a slippery path to fill jugs with a cup. This should last a while. In addition to HOH, immunity and $10,000 are also up for grabs should they opt to forgo the power. 5 people have already decided they don’t want to be HOH. Boogie is the only person going for the cash, while 4 people (Ashley, Joe, Britney, and Dan) have decided to go for safety, leaving 4 people (Danielle, Jenn, Shane, and Ian) to compete for HOH. Britney and Dan may have talked tough about going after Boogie and Frank, but they’re not stupid enough to get blood on their own hands. Let one of the idiot newbies do that instead, most likely one of their partners.

America’s Got Talent Season 7 Episode 23

A bunch of terrible acts took the stage in America’s Got Talent Season 7 Episode 22. That won’t stop 4 of them from making it to the next round, while much better acts were cut prior to the Olympics.

Cast in Bronze, Reverse Order, and Academy of Villains are first. The dance act is clearly advancing, though I think Reverse Order has the most potential with the right song.

7 in Unison, Bria Kelly, and Rudy Cody are next. It obviously won’t be Rudy, but I’m going to go with Bria between the other two. She is the one to advance.

The Magic of Puck, Eric Buss, and Melinda Hill are the third trio. I get the sense Melinda’s actually funny, but too bad she did not show it last night. Combine that with Eric’s weird act, and you get the result that Puck moves to the next round.

Clint Carvalho, Drew Erwin, and Romeo Dance Cheetah are the last group. No chance of the lame air guitarist advancing. Howard votes for Clint. Sharon does, too. My ears are not looking forward to it.

Big Brother 14 Episode 15

Frank predictably nominated Joe and Wil in Big Brother 14 Episode 14.

Dan’s relieved that he’s not nominated, but he still doesn’t trust his alliance members.

Since Wil has an attitude problem, Frank and Boogie now want to team up with Joe. They want him to keep his cool and keep his mouth shut. Good luck with that.

Shane continues to talk about how he doesn’t want a showmance. I might believe you if you’d stop kissing her.

Wil hopes to get Danielle’s support by telling her a sob story. It seems to be working at gaining her sympathy, but I can’t see her wanting to go against the rest of the house on that basis.

Frank picks Jenn at random to play in the veto competition. Joe picks the injured Ashley as houseguest’s choice because he doesn’t trust anybody. Wil calls this selfish, but it’s not like she has to play if she doesn’t want to/can’t. She just has to dress in a stupid costume and show up. Wil chooses Boogie, who would have been his last pick.

Zingbot tells Ashley that it’s too bad her smile, which lights up the room, is the only thing about her that’s bright. He asks Britney to tell him more about the charity she gave half a million dollars to, The Brigade. Little orphan Annie wants Frank to stop stealing her hairdo. Shane’s going to require a restraining order for Danielle once the season ends, which is funny because it’s true.

After zinging everybody, Zingbot brings them to the backyard for the veto competition. Their job is to bring baby Zingbot to life, which requires them to build a pipeline through gateways, then guide an orb through the pipe and into a transformer. Boogie helps Ian, while Britney helps Shane (with a puzzle, really, Shane?). None of this help seem to be working for either of them, but everybody else is just as clueless. Except for Frank, who’s making steady progress. He ends up winning the power of veto and unleashing Zingbot 4000.

Frank’s win gives the rest of the house more time to sweat. They say they can’t trust Frank, but it seems he shouldn’t trust them either.

Wil thinks he should get a bigger target out. Back to this again. If Frank takes out a big target, he in turn becomes a bigger target, when he’s already painted a big bullseye on his forehead. Even taking out Wil is a risk, but at least Wil has made it clear he can’t be trusted. He gains the support of Ashley and Jenn to go upstairs to see if Frank is willing to target Dan. As much as Frank does not trust Dan, Boogie’s been able to talk some sense into him against going down that path just yet.

Since Ian’s working both sides or at least thinks he is, he digs up information for his alliance with a stupid name, and Frank mentions Dan as a potential target. Ian tells Danielle and Britney, trusting that the information will go no further.

Frank’s main defense of Dan being a threat is that Dan wanted to vote against him. Who didn’t?

At the veto ceremony, Frank chooses not to change his nominations.

America’s Got Talent Season 7 Episode 22

The last group of acts advanced prior to the Olympics in America’s Got Talent Season 7 Episode 21. Tonight it’s the Youtube acts that were too cheap to buy a plane ticket to one of the earlier auditions.

Clint Carvalho has brought one his extreme parrots with him. His act is annoying bird calls that make me want to tell him to shut the hell up, but his bird does make its way across the way from another building to him.

Reverse Order is otherwise invisible on Youtube except for the one song they have with about 600,000 views, Sing for Me Baby, which sounds a lot better than this Katy Perry cover. Howard thinks they suffer from not having been together for long enough. Howie thinks they’re young guys acting like a rock band. Sharon’s not sure whether they are rock or pop, but they insist rock. I would have guessed pop.

Ruby Cody is a magician whose goal is not to do magic tricks but rather to bring a nightmare to life. 80s music and puppets. This is just weird. Two of the three judges buzz. Good trick at the end, but it just took too long to get there.

7 in Unison is a group of girl dancers, and their routine for tonight is jazz. Young girls dancing to Fever. This won’t end well. Howie buzzes because he’s bored.

Drew Erwin taught himself how to play guitar by watching videos online. His dad submitted the video without him knowing, and he ended up being America’s pick. His performance of Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn, which I haven’t heard since around the time he was born, gets the judges to tell him nice effort but not quite yet.

Melinda Hill used to be extremely shy but realized through comedy that she could break out of her shell. Starts off funny, but not nearly as good as the two comedians who were in the earlier rounds. Howie tells us to go to Youtube and see that she was funnier in the audition, but I can’t find it. This is pretty pitiful, NBC.

Eric Buss is a goofball who can’t really describe what he does. I don’t get the point of what I just watched or why Howie did not buzz him like the other two did.

Romeo Dance Cheetah is an air guitarist. Oh god. The boys buzz, but Sharon loves barking mad. Howard wants to know why we’re wasting time with a Youtube night.

Puck has been a magician for about 40 years. Which brings us to… a dancing handkerchief. Howard’s seen this before, but he thinks he’s got a chance since none of the acts have been very good tonight.

Bria Kelly has a powerful voice, if sometimes too shouty. The judges all have mostly positive comments, a change of pace.

Cast in Bronze plays a carillon, a 4 ton church bell keyboard, while wearing a stupid mask/costume. This might be something fun to have at Christmas time, but that’s about as far as I’ll go. All three judges buzz.

Maybe the last act of the night will be good. That would be different. Academy of Villains is a theater hip hop dance crew. Anybody who messes up is going to have to do push ups until they vomit, and they had better continue dancing even if they have broken bones. The chick running this thing is a bit scary. But it seems to have produced results. The judges feel as if this act redeems the decision to have a Youtube night. I’m not so sure about that, but they were pretty good.

Big Brother 14 Episode 14

Janelle was evicted in Big Brother 14 Episode 13, and after narrowly escaping elimination again, Frank won HOH.

Joe, the lone idiot who voted Frank out last week, knows he’s a target now that Frank is back in power.

Britney’s still crying about Janelle’s eviction, and she warns that Frank is going to win the game.

Frank wants to put up Dan, thus blowing up the just established alliance. He ain’t gonna win the game if he makes stupid decisions like this. Boogie talks some sense into him. No need to rock the boat just yet.

Wil and Ashley may have voted against Janelle because they didn’t want to be like Joe and be outcasts, but they now just have each other. Joe’s upset that they didn’t tell him, but his big mouth wouldn’t have allowed that information to be quiet for very long.

Danielle’s still keeping up her charade of being a kindergarten teacher, a lie that never made any sense to me because it’s not as if she’s a lawyer or some profession you really need to hide. Boogie is on to this lie and thinks she’s a nurse.

Ashley can barely move due to back pain. Lucky for her, she’s got men who are more than happy to carry her around.

Due to her injury, Ashley agrees to let Frank take her spot in the have not competition. Frank’s team consists of Boogie, Ian, Dan, and Wil, in a lopsided competition against Danielle, Britney, Jenn, Joe, and Shane. The challenge is to soak up juice and return to have the farmers (Frank and Jenn) squeeze the juice out of them and into their opponents’ jugs. It won’t take much effort for the BB producers to make something sexual out of this.

Because of a kink in their hose, it ended up being a lot closer than it should have been, but as expected Danielle, Britney, Jenn, Joe, and Shane are the have nots for the week. In addition to slop, they get candy canes and cod.

When Wil goes to plead his case, he says he won’t target Boogie or Frank, but he refuses to answer who his target would be. He would have been better off just keeping his mouth shut because opening it makes him a more appealing target than he was before, perhaps no longer just the pawn.

Despite having two clear and easy targets, Frank continues to harp on a Dan nomination.

Nominations
Britney is safe.
Danielle is safe.
Shane is safe.
Ashley is safe.
Jenn is safe.
Ian is safe.
Dan is safe.
Boogie is safe.
Joe and Wil have been nominated for eviction.

Big Brother 14 Episode 13

Danielle won the power of veto in Big Brother 14 Episode 12, and she used it to change her own nominations, putting Janelle in danger while saving Wil. Can the producers scramble enough to save Janelle as they have done in seasons past, or will Frank live to see yet another day?

Everybody pretends to be shocked by what just happened, but then they all leave the room and do a happy dance.

Worse than being nominated, Janelle’s biggest concern is that she did not put on makeup before heading into the veto ceremony.

Britney says she’s upset because she has to keep lying to Janelle’s face. Welcome to Big Brother. Last time she was in the house, she was the one whose face was being lied to, all season long, and that did not play out well in the end. She does make a good point, though. Janelle does not seem particularly interested in targeting her.

Votes
Boogie: Janelle
Jenn: Janelle
Joe: Frank
Wil: Janelle
Ashley: Janelle
Britney: Janelle
Shane: Janelle
Dan: Janelle
Ian: Janelle

By a vote of 8-1, Janelle has been evicted from the Big Brother house. In the first sign of a change from the coaches running the season, Janelle was only able to retain the support of one of her former teammates, who is apparently the only person in the house that is completely in the dark.

If last week didn’t do it, the HOH competition should show the house where everybody stands with each other. Pairs of people square off answering questions about competitions, then the person who got it right gets to choose the next two to face off. Wil beats Jenn and picks Joe and Boogie. Boogie is correct and puts Wil against Ashley. Ashley is correct and puts Shane against Britney. Britney is correct and puts Ashley against Ian. Ian is correct and puts Dan against Britney. Britney is correct and puts Boogie against Frank. Boogie buzzes in before any words are said, and he is incorrect. That leaves Ian and Britney left to determine the final two. Britney is correct and faces Frank. Frank wins HOH, which pretty much seems to be the only way he doesn’t get nominated.

Big Brother 14 Episode 12

Following Danielle’s HOH win in Big Brother 14 Episode 11, she and former coach Dan suddenly became visible for a change, and they chose to nominate Frank and Wil.

Danielle tries to justify going back on her word with Wil. He’s just the pawn. Likely story. Not to be a broken record, but rule #1 in the Big Brother house: if you really don’t want somebody going home, you don’t nominate them.

Janelle and Dan want to work with the coaches, which would include Boogie, who doesn’t want to work with anybody other than Frank because everybody else lied to him.

Ian feels even more alone than before now that the coaches have joined the game. He says he’s willing to vote against Boogie if he has to do so, or at least he realize he’s going to have to at some point as the numbers dwindle.

Danielle is joined by Shane at random for the veto competition, Frank picks Jenn, and Wil picks Ian. Despite having all of his players in the competition, Boogie is not happy because Ian and Jenn suck at competitions and pretty much in general.

Britney sees Janelle in the bathroom whispering with Frank. Here comes the paranoia. Granted, this is a conversation worth being paranoid over, but Danielle and Britney are going to take it to another level. Dan doesn’t get it, as he says Janelle has a personal vendetta against Frank that can’t be buried by one conversation.

In the veto competition, they will toss a ball to try to hit the box with the highest number or at least not the lowest number. The beauty of this game, which is largely based on dumb luck, is you don’t need to get the highest score… you just need to not score lower than everybody else.

Frank scores 20. Ian scores 3, telling us he’s going to throw it, as if it matters. Shane scores 2. Jenn scores 9. Danielle scores 4. Wil scores 6. With the lowest score in the first round, Shane is eliminated, and he receives the power of veto as his prize.

Ian scores 20. Jenn scores 6. Danielle scores 6. Wil scores 5. Frank scores 9. Wil is eliminated in the second round, and he receives a veto ticket that guarantees him to play in next week’s veto competition. He trades it for the power of veto, great logic if somebody else down the line isn’t going to just snatch that from his hands.

Jenn scores 2. Danielle scores 10. Frank scores 4. Ian scores 5. Jenn is eliminated next, and her prize is a Maui vacation. Britney is so glad that Jenn gets a vacation from all the hard work she’s been doing in the Big Brother house.

Danielle scores 9. Frank scores 9. Ian scores 4 and is eliminated. He receives the ability to live a dog’s life for 24 hours, which involves staying in a pen for a day and only going out if somebody agrees to take him for a walk on a leash. He’s looking forward to it.

Frank scores 8. Danielle scores 10. Frank’s prize is $5,000, which he for some reason trades for the power of veto. Like Wil, he believes somebody else isn’t going to want that veto. Danielle’s prize is to wear a spiritard for the week, which she obviously trades to Frank for the veto.

Boogie’s not worried. He and Will never relied on competitions in this game. They thought winning them was stupid because in most cases it is.

Ian has agreed to join an alliance with Dan, Danielle, Britney, and Shane. Their alliance name: Quack Pack. What the bloody hell is that, Ian?

Boogie has an alternative proposal: Boogie, Frank, Dan, Danielle, Britney, and Shane. Their first target would be Janelle, and with that amount of votes, they don’t need anybody else to get rid of her. He doesn’t trust Janelle, and he openly tells her that, which receives no response.

Dan, Danielle, and Ian support getting rid of Janelle, while Britney and Shane could go either way.

This new alliance’s name: Silent Six. At least it’s better than Quack Pack. I like this alliance, but I don’t get it. The biggest threats (plus Danielle) all combined. What, they’re just going to target people like Ashley (who I assume is still in the house) and Jenn (who I know is still in the house because she, uh, won a trip to Maui) for the next month?

Danielle removes Wil from the block. Janelle has been nominated in his place. She has no idea what the heck just happened.

Big Brother 14 Episode 11

After Shane wasted a week painting a bigger target on himself in Big Brother 14 Episode 10, the coaches entered the game, cancelling the eviction for the week.

Britney denies pressing the button, though it would have been stupid of her not to seeing as she only had one player left who’s a big target. Dan, likewise, had just one player left. In spite of having a full team of three, Janelle needs to redeem herself, having placed third twice before. Boogie, however, felt he was running the game and was completely comfortable staying as coach, which is why he was the only person who did to press the button. Despite the two girls also having pressed the button, Dan’s an easy target.

After the coaches made their decision, Dan tells Boogie that Frank was the target, not Joe. That means that Wil and Danielle lied to him, while Dan withheld information.

The HOH competition is one of endurance. This generally gives people who fail at every other competition an opportunity to actually gain control. Boogie’s the first one out after 1 hour and 10 minutes. He wasn’t going to win anyway, so no point in continuing this. Jenn follows him 2 minutes later. Joe drops 1 minute after that. Ashley drops at 1 hour and 51 minutes. Dan goes 4 minutes later, as his strategy remains the same, an effort to look weak. Frank falls after 2 hours and 13 minutes. Danielle promises Wil safety, and he drops at 2 hours and 43 minutes at the same time as Shane. Janelle falls 6 minutes later. Dan may have pressed the button, but he’s not done coaching Danielle. She doesn’t really need it, though, because this is a walk in the park for her. Receiving a promise of safety, Ian drops at 3 hours and 15 minutes, and Britney gets the same offer. Danielle wins HOH.

Great news for coach Dan and also Shane, who promptly kisses her to continue the showmance, which she’s falling for. Boogie, who just learned the name of this otherwise invisible player, is not so happy.

Danielle gets a bad vibe from Janelle, who’s been calling her a floater, a word that has lost all meaning since season 6.

Dan was trying to gain Boogie’s trust by telling him Frank was the target. That seems to have backfired now. Boogie’s not grateful for this news but rather annoyed with all parties involved, which would include Dan.

Dan suggests nominating Frank against Wil, taking out Frank, and leaving Boogie on his own. His main concern is that the coaches do not get nominated because his name comes next if they do.

After this conversation, Danielle remembers her promise that apparently meant more to him than it did to her. She told Wil he’s safe this week. Having been reminded of this deal by Wil, Danielle wants to nominate Boogie. She tells Dan she’s worried that Boogie might win veto, which does not seem terribly likely, but if that does happen, both Boogie and Frank would be safe if Boogie’s not on the block.

Nominations
Britney is safe.
Ian is safe.
Dan is safe.
Janelle is safe.
Jenn is safe.
Shane is safe.
Ashley is safe.
Joe is safe.
Boogie is safe.
Frank and Wil have been nominated for eviction.

The coach twist may be gone, but not really. Dan’s still coaching his lone remaining player, with his own best interests in mind, and she’s still doing as he says.

Wil has learned that Danielle’s word is meaningless, if for no other reason than she so quickly makes deals without considering them.

This is the reason why Shane’s decision to get rid of Frank did not make sense last week. The physical threats keep going up. He may be safe while his showmance is in charge, but that only lasts for a week.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of Big Brother 14 Episode 12, which airs Wednesday at 8/7c on CBS.
