American Idol Season 10 Episode 5

In Nashville in American Idol Season 10 Episode 4, we saw Rob Bolin and Chelsee Oaks, Jackie Wilson (not that Jackie Wilson), and Lauren Alaina. Tonight we go to Austin, Texas.

Corey Levoy met his older sister when he was 14, in spite of the fact that they lived 15 minutes away, because his parents were selfish. He sings I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt. The judges were not sure what to expect since his speaking voice is so high, but he gets three yeses, plus one from his sister.

Hollie Cavanagh sings At Last by Etta James. Randy responds that she’s not ready yet, but J Lo asks if this shaking, crying girl can collect herself to sing one more song, which she does and sings The Climb by Miley Cyrus. This is enough to convince them to give her another chance, and Randy decides to reverse his previous no vote.

Rodolfo Ochoa sings The Circle of Life, and it quickly becomes clear that he ain’t making it.

John Wayne Schulz comes from a long line of cowboys. His mom asked him to try out for American Idol after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. He sings Believe by Brooks & Dunn. This is probably what they were looking for when they came to Texas.

Courtney Penry thinks Ryan Seacrest the sexiest man alive, and she plans to marry him some day. Ryan might want to hire some extra security while in Austin. It’s not long after this revelation that she does an impression of a chicken, which follows telling Jennifer and Randy they are beautiful and making kissy faces at Steven. In spite of the high creepy factor, she’s got a good voice. She’s through with two votes.

Shantel Campos, Alex Carr, and Caleb Johnson will be going to Hollywood.

Dating couple Jacqueline Dunford and Nick Fink met in choir at college. Both are very good, with their goofiness only adding to it.

Janelle Arthur wants us to know that people from the country have teeth and shoes. The judges don’t even have to discuss it before letting her go to Hollywood.

Seacrest brings a 7 foot armadillo into the room. She’s surprised she doesn’t get through, so she’ll just be an armadillo the rest of her life.

Casey Abrams sings I Don’t Need No Doctor by Ray Charles. I’m quite surprised to find he’s got a good voice. Randy says that was sick good.

Apparently, Fox believes they have more going for themselves than AI, so tonight’s audition episode is just 1 hour.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of American Idol Season 10 Episode 6, which airs Thursday at 8/7c on Fox.

The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 5

The abridged one hour The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 4 wasn’t enough to squeeze in much. The green team went to the unknowns for a week, and then the on campus team beat them in the challenge.

The unknowns are in their last workout at Fitness Ridge. After a month of being invisible, we may get to see them more than 5 minutes a show now. It’s there we get to see some drama with Q, walking away from the boxing ring because he is concerned with himself, not any team functions that are happening.

Having suffered a back injury years ago, which she has used as her excuse for weight gain, Hannah has now finally managed to get the courage to fully arch her back in the last chance workout. She says this moment has changed her life.

Jen & Jay return for the weigh in. They say everything over there was totally different, but either way, they are happy with the choice they made on the first day.

Jen: 236 pounds (-6, 2.48%)
Jay: 341 pounds (-9, 2.57%)
Green Total: 577 pounds (-15, 2.53%)

Arthur: 450 pounds (-9, 1.96%)
Jesse: 266 pounds (-3, 1.12%)
Blue Total: 716 pounds (-12, 1.65%)

Courtney: 282 pounds (-10, 3.42%)
Marci: 208 pounds (-3, 1.42%)
Aqua Total: 490 pounds (-13, 2.58%)

Olivia: 228 pounds (-5, 2.15%)
Hannah: 217 pounds (-3, 1.36%)
Purple Total: 445 pounds (-8, 1.77%)

Irene: 230 pounds (+6, 2.68%)
Don: 286 pounds (+6, 2.14%)
Orange/Black Total: 516 pounds (+12, 2.38%)

In spite of their decidedly lackluster performance, Arthur & Jesse are once again saved by someone throwing the weigh in. At least this week Don isn’t playing dumb, pretending he didn’t gain the weight on purpose. He doesn’t have the chance to because Irene admits she did it because he wants to go home. Good riddance. Black team was a waste of space, but hopefully they have actually learned something.

Rather than wasting time deliberating, Alison asks for a show of hands. They agree to unanimously eliminate Don.

The free ride is over for the unknowns. Tonight they make their way to the ranch. They start off with a 10-9 advantage. We are given total weight lost to date for each contestant.

Yellow Team
Justin: 57 pounds (15.62%)
Rulon: 63 pounds (13.29%)

Brown Team
Ken: 42 pounds (11.14%)
Austin: 54 pounds (13.64%)

Pink Team
Deni: 35 pounds (13.67%)
Sarah: 30 pounds (11.49%)

Red Team
Q: 39 pounds (8.92%)
Larialmy: 31 pounds (10.30%)

Grey Team
Moses: 75 pounds (17.05%)
Kaylee: 29 pounds (12.45%)

It’s clear red team is the weak link of the lot. On the other hand, Moses has put up huge numbers, which was to be expected following his week 1 loss of 41 pounds. This is really the type of result that Arthur should be making more of an effort to achieve. 1-2% a week will get him there eventually, but it’ll be a slow process.

Alison has an offer that may even the playing field. If the on campus players can lose more than the 48 pounds that they lost last week as a group (the two gains are not counted in these figures), they’ll all win immunity. This should be achieveable, as a couple of people should easily be able to step up their games, and Irene has two weeks worth to lose.

Just in case we have forgotten (I have), we are reintroduced to the two new trainers: Brett Hoebel and Cara Castranova.

The challenge is for the unknowns. They may have been stripped of immunity as a group, but the team that wins the challenge will get it back. Each team has a scale. They will put weight on someone else’s scale. Once a team has 500 pounds on their scale, they are out. Grey team wants the weakest teams to fall, so they will target the red team. They are not alone because everybody is ganging up on the red team. Red team is the first out. Q’s response is that he should get immunity because he needs it the most (because he tries the least), so all this talk about being family is out the window. Brown is the next to be teamed up against. In response, brown targets pink. Brown team is eliminated next, but the damage to the pink team was already done, so they are next. Yellow saved all their big weights for last, so although they started off with more weight on their scale, the math just doesn’t work for the grey team, so yellow comes from behind and wins immunity… by 5 pounds.

With two weigh ins squeezed into one show (hopefully… I don’t want to see to be continued), we’re already up to the last chance workout.

We start the weigh in with Bob & Jillian’s players.

Irene: 216 pounds (-3.57%)

Jen: 232 pounds (-4, 1.69%)
Jay: 331 pounds (-10, 2.93%)
Green Total: 563 pounds (-14, 2.43%)

Olivia: 224 pounds (-4, 1.75%)
Hannah: 210 pounds (-7, 3.23%)
Purple Total: 434 pounds (-11, 2.47%)

Courtney: 275 pounds (-7, 2.48%)
Marci: 200 pounds (-8, 3.85%)
Aqua Total: 475 pounds (-15, 3.06%)

Arthur: 444 pounds (-6, 1.33%)
Jesse: 257 pounds (-9, 3.38%)
Blue Total: 701 pounds (-15, 2.09%)

Their 63 pounds lost easily beats last week’s 48 pounds, so the on campus teams are safe for this week.

Brett & Cara’s teams weigh in next.

Justin: 292 pounds (-16, 5.19%)
Rulon: 394 pounds (-17, 4.14%)
Yellow Total: 686 pounds (-33, 4.59%, immune)

Larialmy: 259 pounds (-11, 4.07%)
Q: 385 pounds (-13, 3.27%)
Red Team: 644 pounds (-24, 3.59%)

Ken: 321 pounds (-14, 4.18%)
Austin: 326 pounds (-16, 4.68%)
Brown Total: 647 pounds (-30, 4.43%)

Kaylee: 195 pounds (-9, 4.41%)
Moses: 351 pounds (-14, 3.84%)
Grey Total: 546 pounds (-23, 4.04%)

Sarah: 222 pounds (-9, 3.90%)
Demi: 210 pounds (-11, 4.98%)
Pink Total: 432 pounds (-20, 4.42%)

Whatever the unknowns are doing, it’s working. They blew away the numbers we saw earlier from the on campus teams. Even with a very solid performance, Q & Larialmy are nonetheless up for elimination. Q asks for his wife to be sent home. Justin wants his word that Q is actually going to learn and not cheat his wife out of this opportunity. They’re all tired of dragging Q and don’t want a weak team. For all this talk, it’s pretty apparent they are going to honor the red team’s wishes.

Votes
Pink Team: Larialmy
Grey Team: Larialmy
Yellow Team: Larialmy

With 3 votes, Larialmy is not The Biggest Loser. From her starting weight of 301 pounds, Larialmy is now down to 227 pounds, for a total of 74 pounds lost.

From his starting weight of 309 pounds, Don is now down to 222, for a total weight loss of 87 pounds. His son has decided to stop disowning him.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 6, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

American Idol Season 10 Episode 4

A trip to Milwaukee in American Idol Season 10 Episode 3 brought us Scott McCreery, Thia Megia, Molly DeWolf Swensen, Scott Dangerfield, and Chris Medina. Tonight we head to Nashville, Tennessee.

Unless her singing voice is miraculously different than her speaking voice, Christine McCaffrey is probably going to sound like a cartoon character. Yeah, she does, just not a cartoon character than can sing. She’s pretty convinced she got one yes, though.

Exes Rob Bolin and Chelsee Oaks have been singing together since the day they met. They’re still singing together now, even if they don’t like each other any more. From their duet, it’s obvious they’re both going to be making it to Hollywood.

Allen Lewis is going to have to stick to his day job of being a tattoo artist.

Stormi Henley was Miss Teen USA 2009. She wants to see how far she can make it based on her “talent”. Jennifer’s not buying it, but the boys say yes.

Adopted farm girl Adrienne Beasley sings American Honey by Lady Antebellum. Steven hears something special, although he can’t quite put his finger on what it was.

Kameela Merricks gets told all the time that her voice is huge. Unfortunately, it’s not hugely good. Steven tells Randy not to tell people they’re not good.

Jackie Wilson is a bar manager/singer. That’s a slash I haven’t heard before. Randy gives her a million percent yes. Jennifer says they’ll have to remember this… that’s what they’re looking for.

Latoya “Younique” Moore lives in a fantasy world in which she’s a recording artist and star. That fantasy world quickly comes tumbling down when she starts singing. Not that she’s convinced by hearing no four times.

Matt Dillard comes from a family that has cared for 700 foster kids. He sings You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban. The judges agree to give him one more chance.

Heading into the final break, Seacrest teased us by talking about the best audition in Nashville. This is either going to be very good or very stupid. 15 year old Lauren Alaina was inspired to come sing by her cousin Holly. She sings Like We Never Loved at All by Faith Hill and I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith, receiving props for the best audition of the day. Steven thinks they’ve found the one.

American Idol Season 10 Episode 3

In New Orleans in American Idol Season 10 Episode 2, we met Jacquelyn Dupree, Jacee Badeaux, and Paris Tassin. Tonight we head to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the cheese state. They don’t have an accent there, don’tcha know? This marks episode 3 of inappropriate comments and weird noises from Steven Tyler.

Scotty McCreery is 16, but you wouldn’t know it by his deep country singing voice. Great way to start off the night. Jennifer says they discovered him, with the right songs. Randy’s glad to hear some Travis Tritt, who, by the way, Randy has worked with.

Joe Repka wants to be a DJ, so he takes this opportunity to get lessons from Ryan Seacrest. Good luck with that, dude. I sure hope his DJing ability is better than his singing because he’s tone deaf. Regardless, he promises to try again.

Emma Henry is another of this year’s 15 year olds. Having just gotten her permit, she drove most of the 16 hours there, with a bunch of back seat drivers. She sings True Colors. I’m not sure what to make of this, but it’s enough to get 2 yes votes by the skin of her teeth.

Naima Adedapo says people ask her a lot why she’s crying. Then she starts crying. She sings Donny Hathaway’s For All You Know. Jennifer calls her one of the best they’ve seen. During this exchange, we learn that if you call Steven Tyler by the name Steve, you will be corrected.

Jerome Bell sings at bar mitzvahs and weddings. With his rendition of Let’s Get It on, he proves he’s got talent, and the judges love him. Steven has forgotten his name two minutes later, but Jennifer tells him he should remember it.

Thia Megia is another person taking advantage of the age limit decrease. If her name sounds familiar, it’s because we have seen her before, on America’s Got Talent, coming just shy of the top 20. It doesn’t matter because we know she’s going through regardless, but she sings Chasing Pavements by Adele.

Nathaniel Jones doesn’t realize that the 19th century is over, so he comes dressed up in his Civil War clothes. Oh, and his dad doesn’t do anyone, not since his mom left. I doubt the lion will get much sleep tonight, not with this guy singing.

At Randy’s suggestion, Mason Wilkinson turns around to compose himself. It is not clear whether he will turn and face the judges again. Unfortunately, he does.

Molly DeWolf Swensen is a Harvard graduate and White House intern (I’ve heard that one before). Before she starts singing Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, she tells the story of how Randy accidentally punched her earlier this morning. Next stop: Hollywood.

Haley Reinhart says she was told to come back last season. This over the top performance is nonetheless good enough to advance. Also from Chicago, Tiwan Strong will be going to Hollywood as well.

Steve Beghun is a CPA. I’m not sure he’ll get very far, but he’s got a decent voice.

Vernika Patterson sings Loving You. I just hope they don’t let her hit that high note. No such luck. Not one to take rejection well, she says the judges have a problem with her because she’s not skinny. With that said, she walks out of the room, without waiting for them to tell her no. She doesn’t want to talk to Seacrest either.

Albert Rogers III does a Barack Obama impression, or so we’re told. Randy thought his singing was terrible and a joke. And people call Simon harsh.

After the judges get done giving him a hard time about his lips, Scott Dangerfield sings Dreamin’ by Amos Lee. Jennifer says he may be her favorite so far.

Megan Frazier was brainwashed from an early age into loving the Green Bay Packers… or else. She sings Baby by Justin Bieber… as an opera song. As she leaves, she warns the judges the Packers will win the Super Bowl. Well, she’s got a 50/50 shot of being right.

Alyson Jados cried when she saw Steven Tyler walk out. Weird. Come Together, which Aerosmith covered, is her song choice. She follows that with Dream On, but she can’t do the end. Steven Tyler has obviously been watching Idol the last 9 seasons, as he’s learned to use the word pitchy. Randy says no, perhaps for the sake of creating drama of making her idol have the deciding vote, but the other two say yes.

The final contestant of the night is Chris Medina. He’s engaged and promised to get married within 2 years of the engagement, but his fiancee got into an accident that resulted in brain damage. After a month and a half, she woke up, in spite of the doctors saying she wasn’t going to make it. He sings Break Even by The Script. To go along with his story, he’s got a great voice.

The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 4

Both Dan and Don gained 9 pounds in The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 3. Although this meant the elimination of Dan, they pretended it was all an accident.

Alison warns the ranch teams that one team will be joining the unknowns for a week. It all depends how they can handle temptation, as plates of their favorite foods are presented to them. Each team will have 3 minutes alone to eat as much or as little as they chose. The team that eats the highest amount of calories can choose who spends the week with the unknowns. As two individuals, Irene and Don are paired up as a team. Aqua team talks about will power and how they are not eating anything. Jay and Jennifer also opt to not eat. Hannah & Olivia follow suit. Jesse may not be interested, but Arthur’s going to at least eat something, grabbing a piece of chicken for 150 calories. This is a smart play just in case nobody else eats anything, and it’s a hell of a lot healthier than eating a piece of pizza, one of the least healthy foods on the planet.

That 150 calories is enough to give the blue team the win. They choose to send the green team (Jennifer & Jay) to the unknowns for the week, saying that the strongest team is going over there. This team will not be immune and will be back at the end of the week.

Bob and Jillian confront Don. He insists that he didn’t gain 9 pounds on purpose. Apparently, he thinks she was born yesterday. 2 pounds, okay, maybe. 9 pounds? Go ahead and get angry, but you’re a liar if you deny that gaining over a pound a day on a weight loss show is intentional.

Over at Fitness Ridge, Jay & Jennifer find that there are some advantages. For example, whereas the ranch contestants cook their own meals, the unknowns have their meals prepared for them. All the math is done for them, so all they have to is place the order. This lets them have a worry free meal plan, although it’s probably not the best way to prepare them to fend for themselves. They also have maid service.

Jay & Jennifer rejoin the others for the challenge. It’s green against everybody else. Uncovering the plates, Alison once again reveals their favorite foods. Their job is to guess how many calories are in all the food combined. It is a 4 digit number. To guess, they must hoist a number up the top of the rig, 70 feet in the air. With it being 4 teams against 1, the ranch teams will have to lift 4 times as much weight. The prize is letters from home.

The on campus players get the first digit correct, meaning there are 8,000+ calories in these meals. Green team follows in their footsteps. The four teams are working together quite well, yelling out numbers, all within shouting distance of their opponents. Their not so mystery guess is not correct. The green team is also wrong, which means the campus team, guessing the same thing, is also wrong. Green team gets the second digit right first, with the ranch teams behind them on their next go. 20 minutes in, the green team gets their third number, but the campus teams are right behind them. Whoever grabs the last digit wins. Green is not correct. The on campus players, however, are correct, filling in the blanks with a total of 8754 calories.

D’oh. Tonight’s show is only an hour, with no results or anything of too much use. Apparently, it’s going to take an hour and a half to tell us that the country is more broke than it was this time last year.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 5, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

American Idol Season 10 Episode 2

American Idol Season 10 Episode 1, now with 100% less Simon, brought us to New Jersey, where we were introduced to Caleb Hawley, Kenzie Palmer, Robbie Rosen, and Melinda Ademi. Tonight we head to New Orleans.

Jordan Dorsey sings Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Sounds good. Too bad I’m left comparing him to Kat McPhee and the Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (say that three times fast) version that Jason Castro sang.

Jovany Barreto loves Jennifer Lopez because she married Marc Anthony (not the guy who dated Cleopatra). He sings Luis Miguel’s Contigo en la Distancia. Perhaps not the smartest move, but it shows off his strong voice. Oh, and by the way, before he grabs his golden ticket, he has to rip off his shirt, with Steven and Randy joining in the strip tease with him.

Jacquelyn Dupree shows up with her uncle, who used to be Randy’s football coach. She sings I’ll Stand by You, and could well be a contender.

Brett Loewenstern considers himself a red apple in a pile of green apples. I didn’t expect that voice to come out of him after hearing his speaking voice, as the judges are impressed by his performance of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Gabriel Franks tells us he’s got a very strong voice and a wonderful personality. At least he’s modest. It’s immediately apparent that he will be entertaining, but it won’t be possible to take him seriously.

Alex Attardo went to Idol Camp, which I’m going to take his word is a real place. So do they have like a money back guarantee or something?

Jacee Badeaux sings Sitting on the Dock of the Bay. This lower age limit seems to be working out, as this is the second 15 year old who’s come on and showed he can compete.

Paris Tassin tells a story about how she got pregnant way too young and faced complications, at which time the doctors advised her not to go through with having the child. Disregarding this advice, she lucked out, with her daughter having hearing problems but nonetheless being healthy. She sings Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood. With looks, a sad story, and a strong voice, Paris should go far.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of American Idol Season 10 Episode 3, which airs Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.

American Idol Season 10 Episode 1

Here we go, the first season without Simon Cowell. Seems the best they could do is Randy Jackson as the head judge, to be joined by Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. Let’s just hope it doesn’t suck too bad. On a positive note, at least they didn’t invite Brad Womack on the show (sorry, ABC, I ain’t watching him again, and apparently 2 million people agree).

We start things off in New Jersey, of all places.

Rachel Zevita was cut in Hollywood day 1 during season 6. Shoulda stayed cut. Decent voice, but I can’t see it getting her any further. Nonetheless, J-Lo pretends to remember her. Three reluctant judges let her advance to the next round for one more shot.

Caleb Hawley has a strong voice and manages to show us what we can expect from Steven Tyler, a lot of weird noises.

The age range has been changed this year, which brings us the very first 15 year old, Kenzie Palmer. I don’t know that we necessarily need to go any younger on this show, but they’ll be hard pressed to find a much better singer. That said, Randy and Steven give her a hard time. They weren’t feeling it, but they’ll let her through anyway.

Achille Lovle has brought us a Madonna song all the way from the Ivory Coast. Bring it back. Jennifer feels bad dismissing this very bad singer.

Dance instructor Tiffany Rios has decided to come on this show rather than the hundred dance shows out there. She made up an original song for the auditions, a bad idea not helped by the glass shattering note she hits, but her voice gets her through it.

Robbie Rosen was in a wheelchair growing up. The problems he had eventually went away, so now he’s walking just fine. He sings Yesterday by The Beatles. He’s one to watch.

Boy Scout Chris Cordeiro is here to waste our time. Well, at least we get a PSA against texting while driving squeezed in there.

Michael Perotto has been singing for years and thinks people would tell him if he sucked. Oh, they’ll tell you that and more.

Ashley Sullivan is awkward, which she embraces. Her idol: Britney Spears. Didn’t she used to be a singer? The judges just smile and nod. After some embarrassing begging, Jennifer and Steven invite her to Hollywood. She looks forward to going somewhere more exotic than New Hampshire.

16 (and 3/4) year old Victoria Huggins has come from North Carolina. I half expect her to say the most important thing to her is world peace. The somewhat cartoony and overly sugary voice turns out to be decent when she’s singing.

Melinda Ademi has come with her war refugee family from Kosovo. Singing I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys, she rounds off day one on a positive note.

Devyn Rush is a singing waitress. People actually pay to see that? I even hate it when they make a big deal out of singing Happy Birthday. The judges are caught off guard by her voice, which they weren’t expecting to be good enough.

Yoji “Pop” Asano will be completely pointless. He has decided to sing Party in the USA, while dancing like Michael Jackson. Good thing the judges are entertained. Too bad I can’t share in their enthusiasm.

Brielle von Hugel shows up with a flower in her hair. I was thinking maybe she was from Hawaii like Jasmine Trias, but no, she’s from Staten Island. The judges think she has work to do, but she has potential.

The final contestant of the evening is Travis Orlando, who grew up in the Bronx. He sings Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles and I’m Yours by Jason Mraz. In spite of his nerves, he’ll be heading to Hollywood.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of American Idol Season 10 Episode 2, which airs Thursday at 8/7c on Fox.

The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 3

With the on campus team winning immunity on The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 2, so nobody ended up going home.

First thing’s first. We get to meet the new trainers. There, was that so hard?

The female trainer is Cara Castranova. She has been boxing since she was 5 and starting competing at age 20, becoming ranked #2 (aren’t there only 2 people in the ring?). Her parents died at a relatively young age, which she attributes to making her stronger.

Brett Hoebel is the other new trainer. He views personal training as a science, and thinks that his pre-med training helps him in that respect. Having been overweight as a teen, he knows where these contestants are coming from.

Justin & Rulon blame certain people for last week’s loss, like Q, who has lost 17 pounds off his 400+ pound frame during the past 2 weeks. Oh, and they were also disappointed in Austin. Any other enemies you feel like making at this early stage?

Following the oh so secret challenge of last week, it’s looking like this time they will be able to get to compete against each other directly. Except they still won’t see each other. Team unknown pulls up in black vehicles with tinted windows, then they get on the opposite side of a divider. That said, one player from each group will meet with the other face to face, along with Curtis Stone. Those two winners will be able to compete for a 2 pound advantage. The pop challenge involves an egg and a frying pan. They’ll have to balance the egg as long as they can on the upside down frying pan.

This challenge lasts about 3 seconds on one side. The unknowns toss their eggs at the other side, leaving Deni as the winner for their team. Not being immune, the other team has to actually care. Courtney drops. Then Arthur. Jen and Don follow. Hannah will not be getting her date with Curtis Stone. Irene is out next. Jay and Don drop. Marci wins the challenge for team aqua.

Now it’s the unknowns turn to meet with Doc H. Q has 248 pounds of excess fat, and his internal age is 51, almost double his actual age of 27. Rulon is 40% fat, while Justin is 43% fat. Justin’s inner age is 59, an additional 20 years. Not having learned from the 8 people in his family that have had bypass surgery, Ken has degenerative blood disease and high blood pressure. His son Austin, meanwhile, has more excess hydrated fat and higher blood pressure than his dad. His inner age is 44, more than double his actual age of 20. Sarah has the highest body fat of anybody on the show, 58%. She has used her car accident as her excuse for why she didn’t move her body. Moses has a 49% risk of having a stroke in the next 5 years, and a 90% risk of being a full fledged diabetic. His uncles on his mom’s side all died in their 40s and 50s. They estimate he will die on April 23, 2025.

Jillian says that Dan and Don are not engaged, and she’s wondering how much they have really learned. Dan holds in his pain of losing his child, not wanting to discuss it with anyone else.

As the challenge winners, Deni and Marci get to meet Curtis Stone. Their challenge will be to tell him how many calories are in the food they prepare. They cook squash salad, kinwa, and halibut for the appetizer and the entree. There is 0 salt in this meal. After eating, they get to cook some dessert, poached pears with a bunch of flavoring such as cinnamon, vanilla, and orange juice. There is not any added sugar.

Marci offers to start, saying there were 480 calories. All Deni has to do now is go above or below, and she says 440. The actual calorie count was 572, giving the aqua team the 2 pound advantage.

The challenge is to haul water and dump it into someone else’s barrel. Once their barrel is full, they’re out. The drums, when filled with water, weigh over 100 pounds, and they will strap them around their waists. The winning team gets the only vote at this week’s elimination. Teammateless Irene will be competing by herself, with nothing to even the odds. Irene and Courtney target the blue team. Purple team follows suit, eliminating the blue team before they even have a chance to get up the hill. They have all made an arrangement to keep Irene in the game, so she wins the challenge.

This leads to a discussion of how Dan’s ready to go home, and he’s already thinking of a plan B. Would be nice to get through plan A first. He even offers to quit the game if he’s above the yellow line so he can let somebody else stay. Jillian could have taught him how to count calories in 5 minutes. She’d like the opportunity to do more than that. He says that, as a captain of a police department, he supervises life and death situations. What about his own?

The unknowns weighed in moments ago, and we get a very quick blur of that weigh in.

Ken: 344 pounds (-13, 3.64%)
Rulon: 415 pounds (-10, 2.35%)
Justin: 316 pounds (-10, 3.07%)
Kaylee: 209 pounds (-5, 2.34%)
Deni: 224 pounds (-9, 3.86%)

For all their talk of how the other teams need to step it up, Justin & Rulon placed last.

Irene will decide who stays and who goes, unless she falls below the yellow line, in which case she will be eliminated. The Aqua team has a 2 pound advantage.

With Arthur sick and only able to get into the gym twice, I thought for sure the blue team was going to be below the yellow line. Then Dan & Don threw the weigh in. If you don’t want to be there, go ahead and leave. Shouldn’t have taken a spot someone else wanted. If nothing else, at least that’s the theory they are now utilizing, sacrificing one of their own so Jesse can stay. Bob and Jillian are offended and disappointed. Adding insult to insult, Dan & Don play dumb, as if this weight gain were accidental. If you’re going to gain weight, aim for a couple pounds. 9 pounds each is a little blatantly obvious.

Vote
Irene: Dan

With 1 vote, Dan is not The Biggest Loser. He considers his daughter to be more important than world class trainers. That’s why you make an effort on the ranch so that you can learn the tool you need to get and stay healthy. He is now down to 215 pounds from his starting weight of 287.
