America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 23

Gymkana, Matt Wilhelm, Kevin Colis, and Beth Ann Robinson were the winning Youtube acts in America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 22. Tonight the last of the quarterfinal acts perform in the wild card round. Each judge has picked four acts they wanted to come back.

The first choice of the night by Piers is the Kinetic King. I quite like him. As long as his act doesn’t self destruct. This time, it goes off without a hitch. I’m not sure that’s a million dollar act, but he has redeemed himself.

Howie loves Those Funny Little, mostly because Piers hates them. Needless to say, Piers buzzes. I still don’t get the point of this act.

Avery & The Calico Hearts are Sharon’s first pick. I suppose they’re good for their age. Piers buzzes, reiterating that it’ll be a few years before they’re ready.

Seth Grabel is Howie’s next choice. I don’t get the point of the flips and the hula hoop, but the illusion is what matters here. He makes a DeLorean appear on stage, and in it are a young Piers, Howie, and Sharon. Piers thought that was exactly like Howie, flashy but lacking. Of course, he’s got his own magician later in the show.

Shevonne (with one name already) was rejected in Vegas but is getting a second chance thanks to Sharon. I guess she’s okay, like the rest of the night so far. Howie thinks they made a mistake in letting her go.

West Springfield Dance Team is Sharon’s next choice, as revealed on last week’s show. Still very weird, but good. Howie liked it but doesn’t think they improved over last time.

J Chris Newberg is Howie’s second pick of the night designed to annoy Piers, who buzzes again. I guess he’s kind of funny.

Yellow Designs Stunt Team is Sharon’s last act of the night. Their pirate theme’s a lot better, though they still end up with a fall. Contrary to what he normally does, Piers lets the mistake go, believing this is the only act where something like that improves the performance. He says they’re one of the most improved acts.

Charles Peachock’s very cool juggling performance wasn’t good enough for Sharon and Howie, but Piers has decided to bring him back. Tonight we return to danger, complete with flaming chainsaw and sword juggling (while balancing other swords on his head). Piers thinks he blew it because he dropped something.

The Fiddleheads are back to sing some more as Howie’s next pick. I like them, but their song choices are their undoing. Piers buzzes because this group doesn’t work, in spite of the lead singer.

Summerwind Skippers are the rope jumpers Piers considers sexy. Tonight they’ve brought flaming ropes with them. Sharon agrees that skipping is sexy. Howie’s changed his mind and now sees how this can be a show.

The final act of the night and Piers’ last pick is Landon Swank. He cuffs his hands behind his back in a tank of water with his head chained to the floor. He’ll have one minute to escape before the safety team has to rescue him. Piers was right. This is the better magician.

Big Brother 13 Episode 17

After the unanimously voted for Lawon to stay over Rachel (really?) in Big Brother 13 Episode 16, America voted for Brendon to return to the house (really? again).

Kalia and Daniele have a duh moment. They should have evicted Rachel so at least they got rid of one of them. Everybody else is happy, aside from Porsche… I don’t know if she’s happy or not because she’s invisible. They’re angry that the last couple weeks have been for nothing. I thought that was the whole point was to just waste last week due to fear of the twist.

Shelly, who believes she’s playing both sides of the house very well, told Jordan that she wants to go to the final three with her and Jeff. Rachel was right there listening to the whole conversation, with Shelly under the impression she was asleep. Dumb move.

The HOH competition is about as dumb luck as any. There are items representing each of their states. Each item is displayed both as a small amount with a number and a big amount of hundreds that they must guess. With 670 necklaces on the tree, Rachel is eliminated with her guess of 1500, as Daniele and her guess of 1234 narrowly escape elimination. Jordan’s guess of 1450 pepperonis on the pizzas is almost double the actual amount of 751. Porsche’s disappointed that her state of Florida is represented by olives rather than something like alligators. Brendon’s guess of 319 once again extends Daniele a lifeline with her guess of 341, both more than 1000 below the actual amount of 1358. The next round is a lot closer, but Jeff is furthest away from the 369 cards with his guess of 523. Shelly’s guess of 120 baseballs is less than half the total amount of 242, and she is out. With the lowest guess of 111, Adam is out on the object containing 224 rivets. We all know what’s going to happen here, right? The words scripted for television come to mind. Needless to say, Daniele wins HOH.

Daniele’s plan is to make the whole house panic. This is why you’re public enemy number 1. Nobody likes you, and you’re not giving them any reason to do so.

Adam offers Daniele one week of safety, but she knows he’s a floater anyway. Speaking of floaters, Shelly walks in next, quickly realizing that she’s not in good with Daniele and Kalia. Shelly asks for Kalia to leave, and the resulting look on Kalia’s face is priceless. Might want to work on your poker face in this house. Afterward, Kalia goes downstairs where she and Porsche talk behind Shelly’s back, except she hears everything they say and lets them know. In the resulting argument, it comes out that Shelly made a deal with Brendon and Rachel, a deal she conveniently forgets and adamantly denies.

Rachel and Brendon call a truce with Daniele. Oh, this again. They make a good argument, though. Once one of them is out of the house, the target on others just gets bigger. Granted, it would take an idiot to think they actually trust her.

As nominations approach, Shelly’s angry with Rachel. You got caught trying to play both sides. So goes the life of a floater. No need to blame someone else.

Nominations
Kalia is safe.
Porsche is safe.
Jordan is safe.
Jeff is safe.
Rachel is safe.
Brendon is safe.

Adam and Shelly have been nominated for eviction.

Big Brother 13 Episode 16

After Jeff’s veto win, Lawon decided to throw his own hat in the ring in Big Brother 13 Episode 15, volunteering to be evicted. Is he crazy? Is he stupid? Is he just bored? Oh, and by the way, there is no special power. I am shocked I tell you.

Lawon pretends he didn’t see this coming. Badly. Shelly immediately knows something fishy is going on.

Both sides are under the impression that they have the votes.

Rachel makes a deal with Kalia and Daniele. She pretends she’s willing to work with her. In return, they expect her to keep telling everybody she hates them. Sounds easy enough. The thing is nobody trusts Rachel on either side.

Votes
Jordan: Lawon
Jeff: Lawon
Porsche: Lawon
Daniele: Lawon
Shelly: Lawon
Adam: Lawon

By a vote of 6-0, Lawon gets his wish and has been evicted. Thus ends The Regulators alliance. Is Marcellas now finally able to give up his crown as having made the dumbest move in Big Brother history? And did people actually just unanimously vote to keep Rachel in the house?

As Lawon is saying his goodbyes, Julie has everybody take a seat. Lawon’s going to have to battle his way back against the top vote getter. Keith and Cassi are removed from competition first. I don’t know how Dominic beat out Cassi, but ultimately I don’t understand why America would want to be tortured by the reunion of Rachel and Brendon either. I guess people really hate Kalia and Daniele and want to give them the best chance to be eliminated, a nice change of pace from when America handed Daniele and her father first and second place.

The competition between Brendon and Lawon will be to gather a complete set of balls containing the names of all 14 houseguests from this season, and they will then toss those balls up a ramp and in a hole. Rachel vs. Brendon would have been much better for Kalia and Daniele here because either way at least one of them would be going. It’s hard to imagine Lawon has a prayer. Brendon is the first to score. He takes the lead 7-2. Did anybody expect a different outcome? With 25 seconds left, Brendon locks in his result. Lawon loses with 9 balls.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 8 Winner

Tonight the top 4 will be slowly narrowed down until we find out who is America’s favorite dancer.

First we go down to three. In fourth place is Tadd.

Marko ends up in third place.

Melanie Moore and Sasha Mallory are left standing in the competition for the win. With 47% of the vote (compared to 32%), the So You Think You Can Dance Season 8 winner is Melanie Moore.

America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 22

The Youtube acts performed in America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 21. Tonight 4 more acts advance.

Gymkana and Powerhouse are up first. Gymkana’s got the clear advantage here, and they advance to the next round.

Next we get to see a bunch of people who apparently went viral on Youtube, but I have no idea why.

After the filler, Matt Wilhelm, TNC Elite, and Aeon are the next group. It goes without saying that Matt advances.

I heard the name Rebecca Black the other day. Now I know who she is. A really bad singer who people like on Youtube. I don’t know. Maybe her live performance just sucks worse than the videos.

Kalani Basketball Freestyle, Brett Daniels, Kevin Colis, and Breena Bell are next. I don’t have a favorite here, but Kevin Colis is the third act to head to Vegas.

Up & Over It’s better tonight than they were on Britain’s Got Talent.

Gabe Rocks, Beth Ann Robinson, and West Springfield Dance Team are the last group. Tough call here. I could see the argument for each of them. The first act to depart is Gabe, so it comes down to the dancers. Piers votes for Beth. Sharon votes for West Springfield Dance. Howie breaks the tie and votes for Beth Ann. Not the most exciting dance act, but I’d say that was the right choice. Sharon invites West Springfield back as her wild card pick.

Big Brother 13 Episode 15

Kalia nominated Rachel and Jeff for eviction in Big Brother 13 Episode 14. Nobody believed that she made her own decision.

Rachel starts packing her bags. Like anybody believes she’s really leaving. Jordan has now taken on the role of managing Rachel in Brendon’s absence.

Kalia follows Rachel’s breakdown with one of her own. Daniele pretends to care.

Porsche’s happy to distance herself from her friend and hang out with Daniele instead.

Kalia, Jeff, and Rachel are joined in the veto competition by Adam, Shelly, and Jordan (Rachel’s choice). Jeff’s plan is to beat anybody, even the Hoff.

Jordan doesn’t know who to trust any more, including Shelly, so now Jeff gets to listen to more women crying. At least he’s saved by Daniele and Porsche not having any emotions.

Their veto task is to keep rolling their ball back and forth to themselves. First person to 300 without dropping it (a drop resets the counter) wins. Shelly, Jordan, and Jeff are all playing for Jeff. Rachel’s plan to rush through this isn’t working for her, as she repeatedly drops the ball, drawing much mocking from the onlooking Daniele who wonders why Rachel hates her. Somehow, Adam (yes, Adam) is in the early lead by 10 and is the first to 100. Jordan says that Adam has more balls than Jeff, quickly realizing exactly how they’re going to make that sound. Jordan drops the ball again at 60. Adam hits 140, Jeff at 135, Kalia is in third at 100. Shelly drops at 98, and along with the other two and the now taking the break Kalia, it would seem like she’s not in the running. Jordan stops to root for Jeff. Strangely, Kalia does the same. She knows what Jeff will do with the veto (not save Rachel), but she doesn’t know what’s on Adam’s mind. As we approach the end, Jeff is narrowing the gap on Adam, but it looks like he’s too far behind to catch him. Jeff finally takes the lead 292-291. Retaining his lead, Jeff wins the power of veto.

Kalia hopes to mend fences again, but Jeff still doesn’t like the fact that she put him in danger. As a peace offering, she says she will not be putting Jordan on the block.

In celebration of his 40th birthday, Adam shaves his beard for the first time in 6 years. I don’t recognize him, but his voice will help with that.

Rachel offers to work with Kalia, but she promises to get rid of Daniele if she stays.

Lawon suggests that they put him up. This is not about being a pawn. He wants to be evicted. He’s got it in his head that he’ll come back with some special powers, and maybe a cape. Nobody cares if Lawon goes home anyway (even his former partner Kalia), so this may be the easy way to just waste this twist week.

At the veto ceremony, Jeff takes himself off the block, and Lawon takes his place. Kalia thinks she just gained three allies, but they’re not forgetting that quickly.

America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 21

Fatally Unique, Zuma Zuma, Team iLuminate, and Melissa Villasenor rounded out the quarterfinal picks in America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 20. Tonight we get the Youtube auditions. I’m skeptical because if you’re that good, why not spring for the airfare? But Jackie Evancho demonstrated last year what could be found on the Internet.

TNC Elite are cloggers. Piers tells us no clogger has ever won America’s Got Talent. I could have guessed that. Their routine is more accessible than most because it’s got contemporary music, but it’s still clogging. Piers thought that was pretty good. Sharon felt the dancing was fighting the music. Howie really enjoyed that… on Youtube.

Brett Daniels is an illusionist, or so we’re told. It’s easy to fake things on the Internet. It’s true. His act is a tribute to Marilyn Monroe. He makes her disappear from a picture and then reappear on stage and later disappear. Piers buzzes after he gets bored (he was not alone). Sharon liked the premise of the act, but the presentation was a bit slow.

Gabe is a skateboarding bulldog who can flush the toilet. Piers dismisses him before the act even begins. He takes a seat on a rocking horse, presses a buzzer (an impression of Piers Morgan), lifts his leg near a picture of Piers (who then buzzes him), and skateboards a bit. Piers may have hated that, but the other two were quite happy with it.

Aeon is a parkour group that adds a wheel and dancing to their act tonight. Based on this, I could not tell you what parkour is, but I guess it was sort of interesting. Piers buzzes because he felt that was poorly choreographed and believes they messed up. Sharon thought it was repetitive. Howie, however, loved that they created a show.

Breena Bell is an 8 year old dancer/contortionist. Who coached her to keep smiling the whole time? Piers buzzes with a suggestion to be a gymnast rather than doing this act that cannot sustain itself.

Kevin Colis is a singer and guitar player. He gave up when he got old (30), but he’s decided to give it another go. Howie thinks that was great, but he’s in a really tough category. Piers disagrees because the singing category is not that strong this year (a nice change of pace).

Beth Ann Robinson is a dancer. Quite good, but she’s in probably the most competitive category, as the group dance acts are awesome this year. The judges all have glowing compliments.

Gymkana are acrobats from the University of Maryland, whose main prop is a pair of ladders. Sharon’s amazed they’re not professional gymnasts. Piers liked it, but he thought it was a bit repetitive.

Kalani Basketball Freestyle is described by Howie as a one man Harlem Globetrotter. Toward the end he drops a ball, which is an instant buzz from Piers. Howie doesn’t know if that’s a full act.

West Springfield Dance Team are hip hop dancers who dress in lots of black. I could do without the creepiness, but their dancing’s good. Piers says they lived up to the potential he saw on Youtube. Howie thinks America’s going to push them ahead.

Matt Wilhelm does bike tricks in the dark, which was enough to make him the winner of the Youtube votes. He’s only done this once before. Very cool idea, and this year we’ve seen two acts perform in the dark who are the frontrunners. The judges agree with America’s voting.

Powerhouse is a show choir that was apparently an inspiration for Glee. Howie buzzes. That’s different. He thought that was like a high school rendition of what they do on Glee. Piers was happy with that, the cheesiest thing he’s ever seen.

A couple pretty good acts, none with any real shot, but then we got to Matt Wilhelm, who like last year is the lone star that makes the Youtube night worthwhile.

Big Brother 13 Episode 14

Following Brendon’s eviction in Big Brother 13 Episode 13, Kalia won HOH.

Daniele complains that Brendon and Rachel have pulled a lot of crap. Surely that is something Daniele knows a lot about. Her gameplay is ultimately what caused it all.

Porsche chose Jeff and Shelly in the competition, an indication to them that she’s on the other side. She calls it a mistake, but she’s happy if it buys her one week of safety.

Kalia says nobody better say she’s not here to play. Based on one multiple guess challenge win, I’ll say it. Let me know when you’ve done something worthwhile.

Meanwhile, Rachel has another breakdown, and then Kalia follows suit when she walks into her HOH room.

Rachel offers Kalia one week of safety if she receives the same thing in return.

The contestants head to a lounge in the backyard, where the have not challenge is to blend three ingredients with milk and serve it to their opponent. The houseguest who names the most ingredients will win a point, and in the event of a tie, they must drink the glass the fastest. Jeff guesses creamed corn and corned beef hash, while Lawon guesses scrambled eggs and gorgonzola, bringing them to a tie, which Jeff wins. Shelly guesses carrots (disregarding Jeff’s input that canned yams are in it), while Porsche guesses beets and dill pickles to win the point. Daniele and Jordan both try to make the grossest combination. Jordan guesses horseradish sauce, while Daniele guesses liverwurst, bringing them to a chug off tie breaker, which Daniele wins. The red team of Daniele, Porsche, and Adam are the haves for the week; the blue team of Jeff, Jordan, Shelly, and Rachel are the have nots.

Jordan blames herself for their loss, and she’s angry that Porsche and Lawon do nothing but just get by regardless. In addition to slop, the have nots receive coconuts and catfish.

Kalia says she wants to ally with Shelly for a trio to go to the end. Shelly plays along, like she’s played along with everybody else, but she really wants to be with Jeff and Jordan.

The plan for the nominations is Jeff and Rachel. But Jeff’s the pawn. Or rather, Jeff’s the person who’s just being nominated so that he can win veto, at least that’s how it’s being sold to him (he’s not buying this stupid story). Already in a bad mood today, Jordan walks out. Before leaving, she warns her that she should be nominating the dead weight, who are not a threat if they come back. Jeff departs with an additional warning, that Kalia’s his #1 target, and tells her that she needs to stop listening to Daniele and the floaters.

Before we get to the nominations, Daniele pouts because she has to sit next to Rachel.

Nominations
Adam is safe.
Porsche is safe.
Daniele is safe.
Jordan is safe (speaking up to say she’s going to be on the block anyway).
Lawon is safe.
Shelly is safe.
Rachel and Jeff have been nominated for eviction.

Kalia says she made her own decision, which is greeted by snickering.
