The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 3

After losing control of Bret and not getting the product message across, Sinbad was fired in The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 2.

When he returns, Bret continues to whine. People are ganging up on him apparently. Everybody walks out of the room, growing increasingly tired of him.

LifeLock and Norton have come together to create a new product. The teams will create an advertising campaign.

Gavin Maloof will be taking Ivanka’s place for this week.

Michael Johnson is the project manager for the men; Summer Sanders will be the project manager for the women.

At the meeting with the executives, Cyndi Lauper is returning to her questions that everybody else (or at least Summer) views as a waste of time. The men, meanwhile, are dealing with Bret, who seems unable to get his thoughts out.

Selita is appointed to direct the 4 page photo essay, which Cyndi takes offense to.

Of course, Summer, who’s had it out for Cyndi for a while, isn’t going to give Cyndi that large a role. When Maria suggests that Cyndi should be the spokesperson, Summer objects. She appoints Sharon. In doing so, she fails to explain why, trying to pretend as if it’s not because she thinks Cyndi is a waste.

Bret’s desperate to prove that he can help, but he’s still unable to figure out how.

Michael has selected Curtis as the spokesperson. Rod pushes for it to be Michael, but he vetoes that and sticks with Curtis. I’d sooner recognize Curtis over Michael. I agree with Michael’s stance that Curtis is current.

Maria asks what their concept is. Summer doesn’t know.

Sharon warns that they’re all probably going to end up hating each other if they keep up with the bickering that’s currently going on.

Summer sends Cyndi away with Maria to the prop house to get rid of her.

Rod is assigned the task of surfing the web. Unfortunately, he can’t even turn the computer on. When they turn the computer on for him, he proceeds to type. One finger at a time.

When Summer meets with the photographer, she doesn’t have any idea still what she’s talking about or doing. He can’t follow her direction if she hasn’t given it to him.

Darryl is in charge of getting the props, and since it took Rod 30 minutes to type a paragraph, he’ll be going with him. Darryl says he’s having trouble getting his body to work all day long like a normal person. As for Rod, he’s spending his time being a politician, proclaiming his innocence and kissing babes.

Don Jr. shows up to ask Summer about her concept. It’s a work in progress.

After Don leaves, Summer finally comes up with an idea. Sharon is the protector, who will be in the background of every shot.

The women find it quite amusing that Curtis is in an apron again. The focus of their campaign is that he does everything that a normal person does, but he’s much better protected. Michael is the world’s fastest man, while Goldberg is the world’s strongest man. They will be knocking out identity theft.

Bret’s taking it upon himself to decide the direction of the advertorial. Michael is not happy with this and lays down the law. He doesn’t want an advertisement. He wants a bunch of words.

Gavin visits the men, and he finds they have a good vision and clear concept, but it’s wordy. Michael is unconcerned that Gavin seems confused. He considers it a waste of time to pay Gavin any mind.

The photos eat up a lot of time for the women, so they’re left having to rush their way through the presentation and ad as quickly as possible. Holly has no clue what the presentation looks like because it was such a rush. She just hopes it makes sense.

The executives are smiling while Curtis gives his presentation, but the smiles end when Michael steps forward and presents the advertorial.

But at least their presentation is working. Summer steps forward and points toward a screen. A blank screen. So she has to wing it. Eventually, the powerpoint presentation does pop up. Then Sharon takes the stage. She’s still under the weather and coughing.

Neither campaign is sufficient. In both cases, they’d have to make changes in order to be able to use the ads. The women lacked education in their material, whereas the men had way too much information, some of which may not have been entirely accurate. The women had some issues with their presentation, and there was no call to action. Curtis was very good, but they’d rather see Goldberg up there.

Michael says that Rod was the weakest player. Bret was not as hard to handle as expected.

Summer calls out Cyndi for wasting time and steering them in the wrong direction. Holly agrees that Cyndi can be wordy.

In the end, the women win. Not an overwhelming victory but a victory nonetheless. Michael’s gotta take the fall on this for insisting on so many words that nobody is going to read. Regardless, he’s not the weakest link on his team.

As the winning project manager, Summer will receive $20,000 for her charity, Right to Play, which brings sports to children in developing countries that have been affected by war. In addition, they will donate a portion of sales.

Michael takes responsibility for having too many words in the ad, insisting he knew what an advertorial was supposed to be.

Bret says that his ideas are respected sometimes, but sometimes no.

Rod says he’s not being utilized enough. He’d have rather been on the creative side of this instead of running errands.

Rod would fire the project manager. Bret agrees.

Darryl thinks everybody has done a super job, so if he has to let anybody go, he can let him go. So does Darryl want to be fired? It sure seems as if he’s on his last legs pretty early in the process. Yes, he does want to be fired. He’s tired. Given his status in New York, the guys are gonna miss him on fundraising tasks.

Darryl Strawberry is fired. Michael says he won’t feel comfortable being here if Darryl just leaves, but Trump won’t be firing him, too.

The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 2

The disastrous women’s team turned on Carol Leifer after Donald Trump started swearing over their indecision, and she was the first person booted from the show in The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 1.

Kodak gets the spotlight this week. The task is to relaunch Kodak Moments by creating their own photo studio and storefront experience.

Sinbad will be the project manager for the guys, by appointment of the governor. The women dance around it for a while before picking Maria Kanellis.

Sharon thinks Maria is trying to prove herself, which is exactly what is going on.

Michael Johnson doesn’t think anybody really understands what Sinbad is saying.

When the executives show up, Cyndi Lauper decides that’s a good time to go to the bathroom. So rather than proceeding and filling her in later, the women insist that they stop and wait. The execs don’t want to wait any longer because they’re short on time. Really? You get this kind of exposure, and you don’t budget much time for it? When Cyndi does return, she’s got a bunch of questions about how to use the camera.

Cyndi keeps asking questions (questions that seem fine to me), which is grating on Maria, Summer, and Holly.

Bret would like to know what Sinbad wants him to do. It does not appear that Sinbad knows what he wants him to do. Rod Blagojevich doesn’t have anything to do either, so he gets on the phone and then goes outside to talk to the public and continue trying to clear his name.

Maria’s charity is the Make A Wish Foundation, and they will be sending some kids down to incorporate them into the task.

Don Jr. sees a lot more organization from the women this time. Ivanka is worried that the guys are relying solely on celebrity, which may not be something the executives like.

Bret’s not any happier as the task goes on. He believes the producers will make him out to be a villain. He’s sure giving them ammo to work with.

The guys all run out into the street to take photos, which may prove to be a bonding experience for them.

For the women, their concept is a red carpet for a celebrity moment of being a champion in the WWE.

As the women she’s with try to get something accomplished, Cyndi babbles on endlessly with stories that really don’t matter. Selita makes up any excuse to run away.

On the advice of the medical team, Sharon Osbourne will be heading home for the night. This is why she did not take on the task of project manager because she thought she was getting sick.

As for the men, nobody’s confident in the plan, or lack thereof. They’re hoping for a miracle. Either that, or the girls will need to fall on their faces, which doesn’t appear like it’s going to happen.

The next morning, Bret’s late, which is apparently becoming a pattern, so they leave him behind.

Sharon, meanwhile, says she’s feeling better (as she’s hacking away), enough so that she is able to rejoin her team.

Sinbad placed the order with the printing company for the pictures they took on the streets. That order got mixed up. This leaves the guys with a blank wall, running against the clock and just hoping they get something. With 5 minutes to spare, the delivery arrives. It’s on the smallish side, but it helps fill in the wall some.

Still somewhat sickly, Sharon has been assigned to the task of handling and passing out cupcakes and water. That aside, Maria’s vision has come together well and seems to be flowing smoothly.

Unlike the women, who have a station at the end to hand out their celebrity pictures, the guys have opted for another strategy. Since it would take too much time to print the pictures anyway, they print out cards telling people how they can get their pictures online, which offers them an added benefit of being able to talk about the web experience. The other advantage is that, when the power goes out, the women need to wait for their machines to come back up, causing increasing lines around that printing station.

Each team is visited by secret shoppers. First up is James, who is confused by the men. Then Lauren visits the women, who greet her at the door and explain everything, but the printing station is chaos.

Although they seem to have pulled everything else together, the men have neglected to have anyone demonstrating the product. They also failed to hand out web cards to everyone, including two of the secret shoppers.

Maria loved her team. Once again, the women aren’t going to be able to say anything bad about each other.

Sinbad thought Darryl Strawberry and Goldberg were the big draws.

The Kodak executives loved the job that the women did, so the women win. As the winning project manager, Maria wins $20,000 for her charity.

Sinbad says that Bret lost a little bit of focus. Bret’s response is that Sinbad ignored him.

Michael agrees that he was not being led either, but unlike Bret, he found something to do. So who was the stronger leader of the two? Bret. But he was not a better follower.

Curtis says that Sinbad was an average leader. Michael agrees. Always the politician, Rod talks and talks without really saying anything. When pushed, he agrees that Sinbad didn’t delegate strongly enough.

Sinbad returns to the boardroom with Bret and Rod. At least this week we have people able to make a decision.

Bret says that Sinbad’s lack of organization on the first day is to blame.

Why did Sinbad bring Rod back in? Because he couldn’t bring the other guys back.

Rod would fire the project manager, since nobody on the team failed.

Bret’s explanation for his disappearance was that it was a self imposed timeout, rather than getting into a fight. Sinbad thinks he’s manageable, albeit not easily.

Having lost control of the task and Bret, Sinbad is fired. His advice to those who remain: throw people under the bus.

The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 1

Hopefully none of the cast of 14 celebrities starring in The Celebrity Apprentice 3 are friends of Donald Trump, so as to avoid the ridiculous rigged predetermined insult to our intelligence outcome we saw last season from happening again.

The teams have been divided by gender.

Men: Bill Goldberg, Bret Michaels, Curtis Stone, Darryl Strawberry, Michael Johnson, Rod Blagojevich, Sinbad
Women: Carol Leifer, Cyndi Lauper, Holly Robinson Peete, Maria Kanellis, Selita Ebanks, Sharon Osbourne, Summer Sanders

Their first order of business is to pick a team name and a project manager. The twist is that the women will choose the PM for the men and vice versa.

The men choose Cyndi Lauper as the women’s project manager, hoping that she will rub the other women the wrong way, causing them to self destruct. Although Rod Blagojevich, who nobody on either team wants to be associated with, would seem a likely choice, the women instead opt for Bret Michaels. He’s not all there to begin with and is on one hour’s sleep from his concert the night before.

During the naming, Cyndi is already worrying the women. The references to history that nobody’s ever heard of get thrown out the window by a simple synonym search, which produces the name Tenacity.

For the men, Bret Michaels suggests RockSolid, and they run with it.

They will be running a diner. Well, I think that we can say this is up Curtis’ alley.

Cyndi picks her restaurant spot, and Bret defers to Daryl, who is comfortable accepting the other spot. No need to flip a coin.

Curtis suggests avoiding the mass traffic, instead opting for an exclusive club with high pricing.

Sharon insists that nobody cares about the food, and she hopes to overpower Cyndi’s leadership. Selita offers up her cooking experience as someone who came from a big family.

Carol and Summer do the fliers. Sharon decides to work with the paparazzi on purpose, having him take their photos for the marketing. Holly says she was not given a task, so she opts to put together the menu. Cyndi’s finding out that Holly is bossy. Carol has decided that her team are dumb bitches.

While the women focus on burgers and fries, Curtis is trying to locate some truffles so he can make risotto.

Ivanka thinks Cyndi’s doing fine, but focused on stuff that doesn’t really matter such as how heavy she looks in the marketing photos.

In talking with Ivanka, the women decide to set $100 price point for their burger as a higher price compared to their target $20 price. On the opposite end, the men are going no lower than $100, with a top price of $250 for the truffle risotto. They realize that Ivanka thinks their pricing is too high, but Bret’s ready to press ahead regardless.

Holly is lining up a lot of commitments, using her autism fundraising experience. Cyndi says she doesn’t know a lot of rich people, but she does know Rosie O’Donnell, the person who was in a public spat with Donald Trump for months.

Nothing is premade. They’re going to have to make their own food from scratch.

Sharon and Cindy make a call to the local radio station to see if they can spread their plans to the masses.

Both teams seem to have lines right when they first open. While the women get people who are willing to eat, the men have people start walking out when they see the prices.

Cyndi’s running around like a chicken with her head cut off. So this would be an opportune time for Don Jr. and his small talk I guess. From what he sees, there’s complete chaos, but they seem to be tapping their resources right.

Holly goes outside to drag Carol inside to work the counter. They don’t need any more people in there. They’ve already got more than they can handle.

Despite the slow start and their high price point, the men are starting to get a nice flow of traffic. At Curtis’ invitation, Al Roker makes a visit. They’ve all called a lot of people, who are spending $1000 and up.

Don Jr. sees a lot more organization from the men, but he suggests that Curtis has a real problem if they lose.

Not to be outdone, the women are also getting some big buyers. Donald Trump has an idea that has the potential to derail their efforts. Joan Rivers will go visit each restaurant, and whichever one she likes will get $10,000.

As the day goes on, Holly continues to tell Carol what to do. Having dragged her off the street, now she wants her back out there.

Curtis puts Joan’s burger up and makes a point of saying it’s hers. Rod is too busy trying to convince everybody he’s innocent. Finally, after 9 minutes, Bret grabs the burger and serves it to her. It’s cold by then. In addition to their service, she doesn’t like their pricing.

With about half an hour left to go, Bret is struggling with his diabetes. He can get by without sleep fine, but if his blood sugar goes wonky, he could well end up on the floor.

The women are so busy that they can’t make their way outside, leaving some big donors waiting in line when time expires.

Sharon declines to offer up a weak player when Trump asks. Cyndi agrees as well. If they lose, she’s gonna have to change that tune. Both of them also decline to offer who brought in the most money or who brought in the least money.

Bret says that, if anyone is the weak link, it was him. Rod apparently did not raise anything, but he has kind words for the rest of his team.

Joan liked the women best, which was made abundantly clear already. She blamed the governor for her cold food. He doesn’t recall making her wait.

The women raised $29,559, bringing them to a total of $39,559 with the Joan money. The men raised $57,905, almost double what the women raised.

As the winning project manager, Bret receives $100,000 for his charity, American Diabetes Association.

Cyndi says she had a friend she could have brought in. When she mentions the name, Trump responds that she’s disgusting.

The men made $46,000 in tips, compared to the $24,000 the women made.

Holly says that the money was left on the sidewalk. Perhaps because nobody was outside since she pulled Carol inside to work the counter.

Ivanka, who offered criticism of the men’s pricing initially, now says that whoever came up with the pricing for the women was too low. Cyndi accepts responsibility.

Maria has no comment who should be fired, although I’m not sure I’ve heard her comment on anything so far this whole episode. Holly, likewise, declines comment, except to say that Trump said it comes back to the project manager. Selita also doesn’t know. This is getting old and pointless.

After Trump starts swearing, Maria finally has an answer. They can do without Carol. Holly agrees either Carol or Cyndi. The men, who are watching this go down, say that the women are going to need Carol’s creativity going forward.

Carol’s response is that Holly didn’t get her hands dirty. Don Jr. responds that Holly was the number 1 money raiser for their team.

Sharon joins the anti-Carol parade. Cyndi thinks that getting rid of Carol would be a mistake. Summer says it would be between Cindy and Carol. Selita didn’t raise much money, although Ivanka suggests that it’s because of her food that they got Joan’s vote.

Cyndi has never fired anybody in her life and doesn’t want to put anybody at risk. With that in mind, Trump offers to just leave things as they are and pick someone from the group.

Siding with the majority, Trump fires Carol.

The Celebrity Apprentice 3

As we approach the end of The Celebrity Apprentice 2, NBC has announced that the show has been renewed for season 3. The Celebrity Apprentice 3 will air midseason next year, presumably around the same time it launched this year (March).

We’ll probably have to wait until early next year before learning who will be in the cast, but based on the not playing with a full deck Rivers duo we saw this season, I would expect to see at least one family duo.

“‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ is the ultimate business and reality show at the top of its game and has exploded in popularity this season while also raising an impressive amount of money for charity,” said Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios. “It’s a valuable franchise and proven competitor and we’re thrilled to have Mr. Trump and Mr. Burnett back to create another brilliant season.” ”

‘The Apprentice’ and ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ have been an amazing adventure for me and, obviously, a very popular show with the public,” said executive producer Donald Trump. “Its Emmy nominations and great success have translated into a wonderful experience. Working with Mark Burnett has been terrific, and I am greatly honored that NBC has renewed us for yet another season, our ninth.”
