The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 10

After falling below the red line, Bobby was eliminated in The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 9.

We’re going to singles. Perhaps now things will get interesting in this otherwise dull season. Maybe I can even start to recognize the contestants all these weeks in.

For the challenge, each contestant will be holding 20% of their weight. Reward is a 1 pound advantage on the scale. Tanya’s the first one eliminated. Then Tumi. It goes to 10 minutes, 15, and 20. Jen is the next one to fall. Hap is next. Marie, Chelsea, and Matt go next. The three people who remain are also the biggest losers on campus so far this season. After an hour and a half, David drops. Jay falls a couple minutes later, and Rachel wins.

This week, they will finally start thinning the herd. This week’s red line will have two people below it. Whatever happened to voting on this show?

With everybody in singles, the trainers split their duties for the week and get the chance to train new people. Most people shine in the workout, including David, who runs an 11 minute mile, much better than the 15 minutes he was aiming to do and even better than the 12 minutes Jillian asked of him. Jennifer not so much, as she leaves the workout crying after being unable to make the jumps Bob had her try.

Following a commercial for Subway breakfasts and a brief last chance workout, it’s time for the first individual weigh in.

Rachel: 167 pounds (-4, -1, 2.92%)
Chelsea: 177 pounds (-4, 2.21%)
Jay: 196 pounds (-5, 2.49%)
Marie: 187 pounds (-5, 2.60%)
Tumi: 225 pounds (-9, 3.85%)
David: 282 pounds (-12, 4.08%)
Tanya: 201 pounds (-7, 3.37%)
Hap: 316 pounds (-5, 1.56%)
Jennifer: 195 pounds (-5, 2.50%)
Matt: 263 pounds (-5, 1.87%)

Two people who I would have predicted would be staying have a bad week, and Hap and Matt fall below the red line and are going home. Or are they? They, along with everybody else who has been eliminated (yes, that includes Ruben, who was eliminated for a second time two weeks ago) will have a shot at returning to the game.

This is different. I was wondering how they’d get the season done in time, and the answer is they won’t. Rather, the season will be returning in three weeks for midseason, and on January 7th, we’ll pick back up where we left off.

The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 9

Ruben was eliminated in The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 8. Again.

They will compete in a challenge, and the team that loses will have to work in a diner all week long. The competition is simple: 4 multiple choice questions.

What percentage of full-time employees in the US are overweight or obese? 2/3.
Red and blue teams are correct.

What is the #1 source of food workers bring into the office? Fast food restaurant.
All three teams are correct.

Which occupation has the highest rate of obesity? Transportation workers.
White and blue teams are correct.

What percentage of administrative assistants have reported gaining weight on their job? 69%.
Red and blue teams are correct, and they are the winners, leaving the white team to work in the restaurant.

Since he’s not working, Hap gets to work with Bob. He knows he’s doing the workouts. The problem must be his diet, no matter what he claims.

Upon their return from work, they provide some cookies to the boys on the opposing teams, putting them in their bedrooms so they may or may not eat them in private.

Hap: 321 pounds (-11, 3.31%)
Chelsea: 181 pounds (-4, 2.16%)
Matt: 268 pounds (-9, 3.25%)
Bobby: 269 pounds (-3, 1.10%)
Blue Total: 1039 pounds (-27, 2.53%)

David: 294 pounds (-5, 1.67%)
Tanya: 208 pounds (-4, 1.89%)
Jennifer: 200 pounds (-7, 3.38%)
Rachel: 171 pounds (-7, 3.93%)
Red Total: 873 pounds (-23, 2.57%)

Jay: 201 pounds (-6, 2.90%)
Marie: 192 pounds (-6, 3.03%)
Tumi: 234 pounds (-9, 3.70%)
White Total: 627 pounds (-21, 3.24%)

Red team squeaks ahead of blue by just 1 pound. After his big 12 pound weight loss last week, Bobby has fallen below the red line and been eliminated.

The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 8

Following the elimination of Holley in The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 7, we were left with a “cliffhanger” that proves predictable in its lameness. Someone else is going home. Jay. Based on the spin of a wheel, he’s going home… to visit his family. Jillian is going with him, and his weight will be what carries or buries the white team.

Rachel had a record time on the swim team in high school, but she has not wanted to get into a bathing suit, let alone swim, in years. This former competitive athlete story is one with great potential to win this whole this whole thing, and she is indeed at the top of the leaderboard so far. Like her, Ali Vincent used to be a swimmer, and she was not that many years off her peak when she came to the show.

Ruben: 392 pounds (-2, 0.51%)
Jennifer: 207 pounds (-4, 1.90%)
Tanya: 212 pounds (-4, 1.85%)
David: 299 pounds (-7, 2.29%)
Rachel: 178 pounds (-5, 2.73%)
Red Total: 1288 pounds (-22, 1.68%)

Hap: 332 pounds (-2, 0.60%)
Matt: 277 pounds (-4, 1.42%)
Chelsea: 185 pounds (-6, 3.14%)
Bobby: 272 pounds (-12, 4.23%)
Blue Total: 1066 pounds (-24, 2.20%)

Marie: 198 pounds (-5, 2.46%)
Tumi: 243 pounds (-7, 2.80%)
Jay: 207 pounds (-12, 5.48%)
White Total: 648 pounds (-24, 3.57%)

With or without the twist, the white team easily won the weigh in. Even without their trainer, Marie and Tumi both put up top numbers. Ruben has fallen below the red line, again. Please, NBC, no more excuses to bring him back.

The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 7

Matt was saved by Bob after falling below the red line in The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 6.

It’s Thanksgiving week, typically one of the worst for any of these contestants, most of whom used to consume 5-10,000 calories in a single day at this time of year before they started this journey. Now they can give back with the challenge. And then I walk away from the TV for a minute and apparently the challenge is over. Well, then. Anyway, the blue team won the challenge, whatever it was (loading trucks with boxes of food it seems), and they will be getting visitors from home.

With this visit, Hap gets to meet his new baby for the first time. Matt visits with his fiancee after having postponed their wedding in order to come on the show.

Bobby, who has now come out to the whole country, has yet to tell his father he’s gay, though surely he has been able to guess. To encourage him to talk about this with his dad, Bob discusses his sexuality for the first time in 15 seasons, acknowledging that he is gay, something that has been rumored for years but never confirmed nor denied.

Bob is worried that everything going on at the ranch this week may serve as a distraction for his team. We jump right from the visits to the weigh in with no yelling about last chance.

David: 306 pounds (-11, 3.47%) – over 100 pounds lost
Jennifer: 211 pounds (-9, 4.09%)
Tanya: 216 pounds (-4, 1.82%)
Rachel: 183 pounds (-12, 6.15%)
Ruben: 394 pounds (-7, 1.75%)
Red Total: 1310 pounds (-43, 3.18%)

Marie: 203 pounds (-4, 1.93%)
Jay: 219 pounds (-7, 3.10%)
Tumi: 250 pounds (-6, 2.34%)
White Total: 672 pounds (-17, 2.47%)

Matt: 281 pounds (-9, 3.10%)
Chelsea: 191 pounds (-6, 3.05%)
Hap: 334 pounds (-6, 1.76%)
Bobby: 284 pounds (-9, 3.07%)
Holley: 288 pounds (-3, 1.03%)
Blue Total: 1378 pounds (-33, 2.34%)

In a result that I don’t think anyone saw coming, Holley pushes her team into the losing column, and she falls below the red line.

But she’s not the only one going home tonight. Or next week anyway. Of course, that could mean anything, from double elimination to someone winning a trip to their hometown. Normally I would consider this a fake out, but there are only a few weeks but 12 contestants still left.

The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 6

After falling below the red line again in The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 5, Craig was eliminated. That was not all, though. The producers threw all subtlety out the window and came up with some excuse, any excuse, no matter how lame, to bring Ruben back to the show, opting to call Jillian a cheater rather than just letting his time come as it should have. The manipulation was so ridiculous and blatant that I’m pretty sure NBC gave the reigns to the producers of Big Brother for the week.

The winners of tonight’s challenge will receive $1,000 each. Each team will have to take balls, race them 250 feet, and bounce them to a teammate on the other side of the bridge, who must then bounce them into baskets of varying points. First team to 30 will win. As David gets into a rhythm, the red team starts running away with the challenge, reaching 15 points by the time the others have 8. They easily end up retaining this lead and winning.

Bob’s team is dominating, while Dolvett’s team is newly rejuvenated. Then there’s Jillian team, which is slowly getting decimated.

Now that they’re about half way through the process, they get to watch their original videos, allowing themselves to see a clear amount of progress that has been made over the course of the past couple of months. Everybody has a sad story, including David, who in his early 40s has already gone through the death of a spouse.

Season 14 winner Danni comes to bring them lunch. From Subway, of course. Since leaving the show, she has become a Subway spokesperson and run a marathon.

Now we get to why they brought Ruben back. He meets with well known music producer David Foster to do some singing. No way they risk missing this opportunity like they did before.

Hap: 340 pounds (-8, 2.30%)
Holley: 291 pounds (-5, 1.69%)
Matt: 290 pounds (-4, 1.36%)
Chelsea: 197 pounds (-5, 2.48%)
Bobby: 293 pounds (-5, 1.68%)
Blue Total: 1411 pounds (-27, 1.88%)

Jay: 226 pounds (-5, 2.16%)
Marie: 207 pounds (-6, 2.82%)
Tumi: 256 pounds (-11, 4.12%)
White Total: 689 pounds (-22, 3.09%)

Ruben: 401 pounds (-8, 1.96%)
Rachel: 195 pounds (-3, 1.52%)
Tanya: 220 pounds (-4, 1.79%)
Jennifer: 220 pounds (-4, 1.79%)
David: 317 pounds (-17, 5.09%)
Red Total: 1353 pounds (-36, 2.59%)

Red team had a lackluster performance until one person hit a homerun. It took 6 weeks, but the blue team finally lost a weigh in. Bob says he wanted to save his save for Chelsea, but he has decided she does not need protection. Matt has been saved. Why bother with a save if all three trainers use it the first chance they get?

The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 5

Leading his team to a loss in The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 4, Ruben fell below the red line and was eliminated.

Their challenge is a half hour cooking challenge, and the prize is a year’s worth of groceries. They must cook healthy meals that taste good. Red team cooks tapas that have 380 calories. White team has cooked ranch quesadillas with 420 calories. The blue team has also cooked quesadillas, hiding the veggies so that Biingo is tricked into eating them. Because they are able to get Biingo to overeat a food he claims not to like, the blue team wins the challenge.

Jillian hops in the pool and helps Craig overcome his fear of water. The red team’s last chance workout is not so happy. Tanya, who has been dragging behind the rest of the house, is sick and will not be joining them, though she does eventually get out of bed and perform her workout on her own.

Before the weigh in, an absurd announcement is made. Jillian broke the rules last week and gave her team caffeine supplements, which she defends by saying that this is healthier than letting them drink a lot of coffee. Their punishment is that they are given a 4 pound penalty at this week’s weigh in, 1 pound per person.

It doesn’t end there, though. Last week’s weigh in has been invalidated. Therefore, the blue team has immunity again. Furthermore, the person who was eliminated last week because he consistently pulled low numbers, Ruben, will be returning to the game. Yeah, the most famous contestant of the season is coming back, coincidentally.

It has been two weeks since the last weigh in, which will inflate these numbers a lot higher than they normally are.

Bobby: 298 pounds (-19, 5.99%)
Holley: 296 pounds (-19, 6.03%)
Hap: 348 pounds (-15, 4.13%)
Chelsea: 202 pounds (-13, 6.05%)
Matt: 294 pounds (-21, 6.67%)
Blue Total: 1438 pounds (-87, 5.70%)

Craig: 336 pounds (-14, 4.00%)
Marie: 213 pounds (-12, 5.33%)
Jay: 231 pounds (-13, 5.33%)
Tumi: 267 pounds (-13, 4.64%)
White Total: 1047 pounds (-52, +4, 4.37%)

David: 334 pounds (-13, 3.75%)
Jennifer: 224 pounds (-12, 5.08%)
Tanya: 224 pounds (-15, 6.28%)
Rachel: 198 pounds (-18, 8.33%)
Red Total: 980 pounds (-58, 5.59%)

With or without the penalty, the white team has lost the weigh in. As the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss on the losing team, Craig has fallen below the red line for the second time, and this time he has been eliminated.

The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 4

Tanya fell below the red line after not losing any weight in The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 3, but the second trainer’s save was used to spare her.

For the Halloween episode, it’s time for a temptation. The person who wins the temptation wins immunity for their entire team. There is a field of 100 pumpkins. In 99 of them, there are treats, which may be cash or food. In 1, there is immunity.

I’m not even going to try to keep track of this because clearly they aren’t trying very hard to let me. We’re up to round 10 in about 45 seconds, and they’re running through people who I mostly don’t recognize without bothering to say most of their names. In the end, the blue team, which consumed the fewest calories, wins immunity. The red and white teams ate over 2000 calories each in their loss.

Jillian usually flips out when someone on her team eats, but she is surprisingly tame this week, shrugging off most of what her team has eaten, particularly the girls who did not eat much since their strategy was to pile the calories on to the boys.

Over on Dolvett’s team, they are dropping like flies. Ruben (who lost 3 pounds) and Tanya (who lost nothing) seem to be falling apart. Regardless, the reality is that they lost so little last week that it seems entirely unlikely that they could lose to the white team this week.

Bob has brought in some 165 pound weight lifting females to show Holley she can be strong without being fat.

The blue team is immune as long as none of them gained any weight.

Holley: 315 pounds (-4, 1.25%)
Matt: 315 pounds (-4, 1.25%)
Bobby: 317 pounds (-4, 1.25%)
Hap: 363 pounds (-5, 1.36%)
Chelsea: 215 pounds (-5, 2.27%)
Blue Total: 1525 pounds (-22, 1.42%)

Marie: 225 pounds (-4, 1.75%)
Craig: 350 pounds (-7, 1.96%)
Tumi: 280 pounds (-7, 2.44%)
Jay: 244 pounds (-9, 3.56%)
White Total: 1099 pounds (-27, 2.40%)

Rachel: 216 pounds (-8, 3.57%)
David: 347 pounds (-7, 1.98%)
Jennifer: 236 pounds (-6, 2.48%)
Tanya: 239 pounds (-3, 1.24%)
Ruben: 423 pounds (-5, 1.17%)
Red Total: 1461 pounds (-29, 1.95%)

The red team’s weigh in started off on the right track, but Tanya and Ruben continue to struggle. As the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss, Ruben has fallen below the red line.

The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 3

Fernanda had the worst week on the ranch during The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 2, and since her weight was the only one to count for her team and there was a red line, she was eliminated.

They cannot use a single piece of equipment in the gym unless they pay for it first. Each team is given 500 Biggest Loser bucks. Blue team wins the dumbbells and kettlebells for $100. They also get jump ropes and rowers. White team wins treadmills for $250. Red team wins boxing equipment for $100. White team spends $180 on a mystery box, which contains large bags of flour and sugar. Wait, there’s more. They get a trade voucher, which they can use to trade their baking ingredients for anything else, and they pick the boxing equipment, leaving the red team with nothing.

Of course, at the end of the day, none of this ends up stopping anybody. Though having more equipment certainly helps, these trainers will be able to find a way around having little or nothing to workout with.

Then everybody starts crying for like 10 minutes about their past, families, and some other stuff probably.

And from there we jump right into the weigh in. I’m not sure anything actually happened this week.

Matt: 319 pounds (-6, 1.85%)
Hap: 368 pounds (-5, 1.34%)
Chelsea: 220 pounds (-3, 1.35%)
Holley: 319 pounds (-6, 1.85%)
Bobby: 321 pounds (-7, 2.13%)
Blue Total: 1547 pounds (-27, 1.72%)

Craig: 357 pounds (-4, 1.11%)
Marie: 229 pounds (-6, 2.55%)
Tumi: 287 pounds (-10, 3.37%)
Jay: 253 pounds (-10, 3.80%)
White Total: 1126 pounds (-30, 2.60%)

Jennifer: 242 pounds (-4, 1.63%)
Rachel: 224 pounds (-7, 3.03%)
David: 354 pounds (-6, 1.67%)
Ruben: 428 pounds (-3, 0.70%)
Tanya: 242 pounds (no change)
Red Total: 1490 pounds (-20, 1.32%)

Dolvett’s team had a disastrous week. With just two people to weigh in, they only needed to lose 9 pounds. It seemed like Ruben had it in the bag, but he only lost 3 pounds. Then Tanya lost nothing, putting herself below the red line. Dolvett uses his save to keep her in the game.

It seems like they’re all just going to use their save the first chance they get. Unlike singing competitions where they have to consider the person’s talent or popularity, here it’s pretty much set up where they’re just about forced to use the save right away.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 15 Episode 4, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
