The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 2

In The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 1, one of the heaviest contestants, Ben, decided he’d had enough and asked to be sent home. At the start of the show, Adrian and Daphne were also eliminated and not allowed in the house for at least a month.

The player with the highest percentage of weight loss of the winning team will be able to give immunity to one person on the losing team, pretty much guaranteeing they will be able to keep the person they came into the house with safe.

Kim & Kimmy and Emily & Joe volunteer to be the leaders. They are given the opportunity to win a 5 pound advantage with their bids. They also have the opportunity to give the other team a 5 pound advantage if they win the bid but fail to achieve the results. Alison reminds them that they lost 3.64% and 3.98% last week. With that in mind, Kim & Kimmy bid 3.8% (94 pounds) with their first bid. Black team does not bid. In seasons past, the average weight loss in week 2 is 2%. Everybody thinks the Kims are crazy, but they’re proud of what they just did.

Dr. H shows up to talk to the brothers, but then we’re interrupted for breaking news, for the 0 people who didn’t see it coming. Mitt Romney won New Hampshire. At least he won early and they didn’t preempt the results, for a speech that was still being written.

When we return, it’s time for a challenge. Every member of the winning team will get The Biggest Loser Meal Plan every day for 6 months. They will work to turn the anchor wheel and pull in the puzzle pieces, then solve the puzzle. Nancy offers to sit out for the red team. Her role is that of an annoying cheerleader. Both teams end up neck and neck at the end, racing to hoist their puzzles. In a photo finish, black team wins the challenge.

Dolvett seems to have learned from the master. Bob is not happy that his routine has been stolen to be used against him.

During the challenge, when they had about half a dozen pieces, Gail opted to take a break and pretend she was working on the puzzle. That didn’t get her very far. Now they head outside, and she decides to take a rest and sit on a tire. This will get her even less far.

Dolvett doesn’t think Mike is 150% dedicated, which would be kind of impossible. Mike’s alone in the house. Even his half brother just hangs out with the black team all the time.

Kim: 236 pounds (-3, 1.26%)
Kimmy: 206 pounds (-4, 1.90%)
Roy: 287 pounds (-5, 1.71%)
Lauren: 233 pounds (-4, 1.69%)
Nancy: 207 pounds (-5, 2.36%)
Conda: 278 pounds (-7, 2.46%)
Mike: 338 pounds (-7, 2.03%)
Mark: 274 pounds (-8, 2.84%)
Buddy: 372 pounds (-9, 2.36%)
Red Total: 2431 pounds (-52, 2.09%)

2% would have been a risky wager, but it would have been a reasonable risk. 3.8% was just dumb. Black team gets a 5 pound advantage as a result.

Gail: 308 pounds (-5, 1.60%)
Megan: 248 pounds (-4, 1.59%)
Cassandra: 220 pounds (-5, 2.22%)
Emily: 250 pounds (-4, 1.57%)
Chris: 226 pounds (-6, 2.59%)
Joe: 334 pounds (-8, 2.34%)
Jeremy: 369 pounds (-7, 1.86%)
Chism: 341 pounds (-8, 2.29%)
Black Total: 2296 pounds (-47, -5, 2.22%)

Thanks to the 5 pound advantage, the black team wins the weigh in. As The Biggest Loser on his team, Mark is safe. With the highest percentage of weight loss on her team, Chris also gives Roy immunity.

Kim lost the least and was part of the gamble that cost them the weigh in, so she would be a logical choice to get rid of. However, Conda hates Mike for no good reason and wants to make this personal. His lack of effort at last chance training is all the ammo the rest of the team needs.

Votes
Kim: Mike
Roy: Mike
Mike: Conda
Conda: Mike
Nancy: Mike
Kimmy: Mike

With 5 votes, Mike is not The Biggest Loser. Hopefully Conda will shut the hell up now. From his starting weight of 358 pounds, Mike is now down to 302 pounds but is still struggling to stop smoking.

The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 1

A new year brings us a new season of TV, at least for The Biggest Loser. Bob and Dolvett return to train pairs of family members who will be split up into opposite teams.

The pink team of Emily and Kim are the lone pair of strangers. One thing they have in common is that they are both former athletes.

One of the guys says he has 9 children. He is promptly topped by someone with 13 children. They say they don’t have time to lose weight. Uh huh.

Alison greets them with a challenge. The team that comes in last won’t make it through those gates. One member from each team will run a 40 yard dash, in which the first four teams will automatically advance into the ranch. Blue (brothers Mike Messina & Joe Messina), orange (grandmother and granddaughter Cassandra Sturos & Nancy Rajala), yellow (mother and daughter Gail Lee & Lauren Lee), and brown (brothers Ben Shuh & Allen “Buddy” Shuh) teams place in the top spots. The six people who did not participate in the first round will also compete in a 40 yard dash, complete with a puzzle in the center of the course, which will even up the odds and make it not completely physical. The first four teams will again advance. Grey (Issac “Chism” Cornelison & Mark Cornelison), red (husband and wife Roy Pickler & Christine Pickler), purple (Kim Stone & Megan Stone), and green (brother and sister Conda Britt & Jeremy Britt) are safe.

That brings us to a sudden death battle between pink team (strangers Emily Joy & Kim Neilson) and aqua team (brother and sister Adrian Dortch & Daphne Dortch). Each team has a platform. The last team standing wins. No more of those few seconds or few minutes battles. This is a test of wills that could go on for some time, or so you would think. As soon as they step up, their legs are all shaking. In the end, Daphne steps forward, eliminating the aqua team from the competition, and the pink team, which lost the last round in footrace, continues.

In one month, the aqua team will be allowed to come back into the game if they are able to lose 50 pounds as a team.

They are given two hours to work with both trainers, and after that they can pick who they want.

Bob makes an interesting observation. This season, relative to what we have seen lately, features perhaps the lightest cast. The only person over 400 pounds is Buddy at 403. Still, everybody is morbidly obese.

He gets his first crack at Roy, who looks like Santa, and collapses but recovers to let Bob know he’s on the nice list. Ben has a more serious problem, however, believing he is in Michigan training with somebody he doesn’t know.

Emily used to be an Olympic weightlifter. I’m not sure she’ll ever be thin, but that certainly shows she can be fit and dedicated. Her partner, Kim, was briefly a pro wrestler. During her wrestling days, she weighed 120 pounds and had 10% body fat.

Once they’re done training, the no partner twist is revealed. They can now choose which member of their team will train with Bob and which will train with Dolvett. Some of the teams have very clear opinions of who they want to train with, while some end up playing rock, paper, scissors.

Bob (black team): Jeremy, Emily, Joe, Chris, Cassandra, Buddy, Megan, Chism, Lauren
Dolvett (red team): Conda, Kim S, Mike, Roy, Nancy, Ben, Kim N, Mark, Gail

During last chance training, Dolvett says Bob’s team is over there killing it, while his team is the Bad News Bears.

Gail: 313 pounds (-9, 2.80%)
Chism: 349 pounds (-12, 3.32%)
Megan: 252 pounds (-7, 2.70%)
Chris: 232 pounds (-8, 3.33%)
Jeremy: 376 pounds (-13, 3.34%)
Joe: 342 pounds (-15, 4.20%)
Ben: 381 pounds (-15, 3.79%)
Emily: 254 pounds (-10, 3.79%)
Cassandra: 225 pounds (-14, 5.86%)
Black Total: 2724 pounds (-103, 3.64%)

During this weigh in, Conda reveals she can’t stand Mike because he’s cheering for Jeremy and apparently offends her by calling him Tank. She’s going to be a handful.

Roy: 292 pounds (-14, 4.58%)
Conda: 285 pounds (-9, 3.06%)
Mike: 345 pounds (-13, 3.63%)
Kimmy: 210 pounds (-9, 4.11%)
Lauren: 237 pounds (-9, 3.66%)
Mark: 282 pounds (-9, 3.09%)
Nancy: 212 pounds (-5, 2.30%)
Kim: 239 pounds (-13, 5.16%)
Buddy: 381 pounds (-22, 5.46%)
Red Total: 2483 pounds (-3.98%)

Bob’s team got off to a rough start, and they end up losing the weigh in after Dolvett’s last two team members put up big numbers. Megan says that, in all fairness, the person with the lowest weight loss should go home. That would be her, but she’s not ready. Ben offers to fall on the sword. After just one week, he’s missing his family too much and claims he has learned everything he needs to learn. He’s still the heaviest person on campus with probably the most health problems.

Everybody agrees to honor Ben’s wishes. With 5 votes, he is not The Biggest Loser. From his starting weight of 396 pounds, he is down 50 pounds to 346 pounds.

The Biggest Loser Season 12 Winner

Ramon won the marathon in The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 12, putting him in the finals with John and Antone. Tonight one of them will be The Biggest Loser Season 12 winner.

We start off with a performance of the theme song. Yeah, so whatever happened to Proud? I’ve got that and Shannon Noll’s Lift on my iPod. This new song, Brand New Book by Train, is not nearly as catchy.

Tonight’s finale will only be 2 hours long. You know what that means, right? Not enough time to weigh in everybody. Only three people can weigh in for the $100,000 at home prize. The others will get a bit of time on stage before being sent into the audience after their weight is revealed.

Johnny: 231 pounds (-97, 29.57%)
Becky: 150 pounds (-88, 36.97%)
Jessica: 174 pounds (-80, 31.50%)

Vinny will be weighing in.

Bonnie: 177 pounds (-77, 30.31%)
Courtney: 183 pounds (-87, 32.22%)
Sunny: 171 pounds (-106, 38.27%)

Patrick joins the weigh in.

Debbie: 206 pounds (-33, 13.81%)
Mike: 223 pounds (-86, 27.83%)
Joe: 215 pounds (-133, 38.22%)

Jennifer is the last at home contestant to join the weigh in.

Patrick: 236 pounds (-151, 39.02%)
Jennifer: 185 pounds (-145, 43.94%)
Vinny: 242 pounds (-184, 43.19%)

Jennifer is The Biggest Loser at home winner of $100,000.

At the conclusion of last week, John had a 5.55% lead over Antone. Not insurmountable, but it’ll make it difficult for them to catch him. He will decide the order of the final weigh in.

Dr. H has some stats for the finalists. None of them have severe fatty hepatitis like the used to, and they shrunk their livers an average of 25%. Ramon and John have been cured of diabetes. Their average combined body fat is 15%, a finale record. Lastly, as a group, they added 54 years to their lives.

Ramon: 201 pounds (-154, 43.38%)
Antone: 245 pounds (-202, 45.19%)
John: 225 pounds (-220, 49.44%)

John Rhode is The Biggest Loser season 12 winner.

The Biggest Loser will be back again for season 13 in 3 weeks. Anna Kournikova will not be returning, having had her share of run ins with both the cast and crew. Dolvett, however, will be. Seems they have found their replacement for Jillian. Yawn. I guess he’s okay, but he’s no Bob or Jillian. They will be joined by… Santa Claus. He will be on the ranch with Mrs. Claus, as all the teams are paired up with their families. Minus the being paired up part. One member of each team will train with Bob, and the other member will train with Dolvett.

The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 12

Now that A Michael Buble Christmas (wait, what?) is done, the final four return to compete. In an unusual show of voting based on popularity rather than taking out the potential threat this late in the game in The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 11, Sunny was eliminated.

Without enough time to fill in an entire episode, it looks like we’re in for a lot of filler tonight.

In addition to confronting his mom for letting his stepfather beat him, Vinny tops it off with a proposal to his girlfriend.

Unlike the others who are in the final four and are treating this like their jobs, Becky has gone back to the classroom and is working. Probably not the smartest way to win, but it has to happen eventually.

After some drawn out visits with the contestants at home, it’s time for the main event. The final four will all run a marathon. They will be joined by all the eliminated contestants. Whoever wins the marathon gets a ticket to the final three. In addition, there are cash prizes for the top 5 finishers. Bonnie sits out because she is having knee surgery next week.

Courtney starts off in the lead. Ramon and Jessica are together behind her. John is in fourth, and Patrick is behind him. Joe, Becky, Antone, and Sunny are running/walking together at the back. Jennifer, no longer on crutches, is in 10th. After about an hour and a half, Jessica’s stomach pain forces her to relinquish second place, and she tells Ramon to just keep going on his own. Courtney has been in the lead for 9 miles, but Ramon finally overtakes her.

15 miles go by, and the winds pick up significantly… in the middle of the desert with all the sand that entails. It’s no longer about running so much as hiding their faces. Awesome planning. Doesn’t look like it lasts long, though.

At the 18 mile mark, John catches Jessica. 20 miles down, and Dr. H pulls Vinny due to his leg pain. Joe meets the same fate about a mile later.

First: Ramon – 5:05:40 (wins $25,000 and a spot in the finale)
Second: Courtney – 5:09:01 (wins $10,000)
Third: John – 5:15:38 (wins $7,500)
Fourth: Jessica – 5:17:25 (wins $5,000)
Fifth: Patrick – 6:24:29 (wins $2,500)
Sixth: Sunny – 6:45:29
Seventh: Jennifer
Eighth: Antone – 7:15:29
Eighth (tie): Becky – 7:15:29
Tenth: Mike
Eleventh: Johnny
Twelfth: Debbie

The oldest contestants keep running throughout the night and keep it until they finish after about 10 hours.

At the weigh in, the original final four will now face the scales. Two people will be above the red line, while the other two will fall below and be eliminated.

Becky: 162 pounds (-10, 5.81%)
Vinny: 286 pounds (-28, 8.92%)
John: 267 pounds (-29, 9.80%)
Antone: 293 pounds (-30, 9.29%)

Having fallen below the red line, Becky and Vinny have been eliminated. That puts Antone and John in the finals with Ramon, as the testosterone level busts through the roof. As things stand currently, John has an edge, having lost 40%, but the others are doing well with Antone at 34.45% and Ramon at 32.86%.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 13, where we will find out who The Biggest Loser Season 13 winner is, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 11

For the second week in a row, the person who went home requested it, as Ramon was eliminated in The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 10.

Everybody suits up for the challenge wearing all the weight they used to weigh. As they dash to each station, they will be able to remove the weight they lost for each week. Reward is a 1 pound advantage. Antone takes off in the lead. As the person who was shedding the most pounds the fastest, John, who nobody wants to win, closes the gap with Antone and is on his heels before eventually passing him and overtaking the lead as they round the turn heading into week 7. They are neck and neck as they come around the final turn, and John extends his lead to win the challenge and the advantage. Sunny places third, followed by Becky and Vinny.

They’ve now made it to makeover week. In addition, they will receive $5,000 each plus Progresso Soup for a year.

They start off with a shopping trip through Beverly Hills. Vinny’s told to ditch the overalls. John has to add some color other than black or blue to his wardrobe. The ladies dress not like old women.

Then it’s off to the hair stylist for apparently their first haircuts in 3 months with the men getting shaved for a change.

Once made over, they round out their Hollywood experience with a walk on the red carpet.

No longer too big for her wedding ring, Becky is once again able to wear it.

After their makeovers are done, they head into the gyms for their final last chance workout. Win or lose, this is their last night there until the marathon.

Sunny: 201 pounds (-1, 0.50%) – Bob wants to know what she’s been doing this week
Antone: 334 pounds (-8, 2.42%)
John: 296 pounds (-9, -1, 3.28%)
Vinny: 314 pounds (-10, 3.09%)
Becky: 172 pounds (-5, 2.82%)

Antone and Sunny have fallen below the yellow line. After the week she had, Sunny should be the one going home, but Antone’s the bigger threat.

Votes
Becky: Sunny
John: Sunny

With 2 votes, Sunny is not The Biggest Loser. From her starting weight of 277 pounds, Sunny is down 96 pounds to 181 today.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 12, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 10

After falling below the yellow line with Becky in The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 9, Bonnie asked to be voted out.

The average American eats over 4500 calories on Thanksgiving. This week’s Thanksgiving temptation offers $500 per pound lost, a home gym, and a 3 pound advantage. Under each dish is a number. The person with the lowest number picks first. One person could conceivably end up with all three prizes. Sunny is the only one who hesitates, though everybody ends up eating. John and Vinny only take one shot. Sunny doesn’t have enough time to eat more than one dish. Becky’s 96 is not impressive, but her 38 is better. Sunny gets 85. Antone gets 81 and improves it to 46. John gets 90, not to be confused with 06. Ramon’s 79 is enough for third, and his first number of 52 is an even better third. Vinny gets a 10.

As the winner, Vinny chooses the 3 pound advantage, which this week is probably good enough to keep him immune. Becky picks the home gym. That leaves Antone with the $500 per pound lost. Three prizes for three black team members.

Bob says to mark his words. John will gain everything back because he’s never satisfied.

The trainers treat the contestants to a Thanksgiving dinner Biggest Loser style. All the taste with fewer of the calories and less fat. Everybody tells stories of home, even Bob, who talks about his sister having struggled with weight her whole life.

They will race 1 mile on Jacob’s ladder. Again they have a choice. 6 months of The Biggest Loser meal plan, plus 6 months to give away to an eliminated contestant. $2500 to give and $2500 to keep. Lastly, there is a 1 pound advantage to keep and a 1 pound disadvantage to give away. Ramon’s leading with John behind. John then takes the lead. Sunny is in third. After 40 minutes, Sunny takes second place about 100 feet behind John, but it doesn’t look like his lead that we later find out is nearly 10 minutes can be eliminated. An hour and a half of climbing passes, and John wins the challenge. Sunny places second, followed by Ramon.

John takes the 1 pound advantage, the last thing everybody else wanted. Sunny picks the meal plan and gives Bonnie the meal plan as well. Ramon takes the $2500 and gives a matching amount to Vinny. That leaves everybody with a prize this week.’

Vinny has an offer that’s the least painless way to go: take 1 of his 3 pounds away. If John doesn’t do that, everybody will turn on him. Too late. Before the weigh in, he makes his choice: Sunny. She tries to paint it as if this makes him a bad person. How dare he take a pound away from somebody (which he must do according to the rules of the game)?

John: 305 pounds (-5, -1, 1.94%) – saying his goodbyes already
Antone: 331 pounds (-8, 2.36%) – $4000 richer
Vinny: 324 pounds (-11, -3, 4.18%) – over 100 pounds lost
Becky: 177 pounds (-5, 2.75%)
Ramon: 268 pounds (-5, 1.83%)
Sunny: 202 pounds (-5, -1, 1.93%)

The 1 pound advantage/disadvantage proves to be huge, saving John and putting Sunny in danger. Sunny again complains about how it’s Thanksgiving week and John should just give her a free pass at the expense of his own time on the ranch. Hate the game if you want, but this is not John’s fault.

Votes
Vinny: Sunny
Becky: Ramon
John: Sunny
Antone: Ramon

Antone thinks that John should have voted to keep Sunny because he put her in danger. Really? You people all openly want him gone. I don’t get why he should do your bidding to keep your friends around to vote him out next week.

In the event of a tie, the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss goes home. With 2 votes, Ramon has been eliminated. In addition to his 110 pound weight loss from his starting weight of 355 pounds, he has also chopped off the horrible long hair and facial hair.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 11, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 9

Ending a week of twists, everybody jumped at the first chance to get rid of Joe in The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 8.

This week they will be competing in a pentathalon. First place prize is immunity; last place penalty is a 1 pound disadvantage. But first they’re going to singles.

Their first task is to rank the others based on how much they think they deserve to win the show. Vinny votes for his friends. Bonnie votes for the teachers. Ramon puts his biggest competition at the bottom. Sunny puts them in alphabetical order. John bases it on weight loss. Antone puts the biggest threats at the bottom.

The second event of five for the week is to run back and forth across a tennis court and place their covers over their opponents’ pegs. Once their three pegs are covered, they’re out. Antone and Sunny eliminate Ramon. Becky and Vinny get rid of John. Antone and John take out Vinny. Bonnie’s eliminated next. Sunny, who has been largely ignored so far, eliminates Antone. Then she finishes off Becky to win. Points are awarded based on the order they finished.

Sunny: 7
Becky: 6
Antone: 5
Bonnie: 4
Vinny: 3
John: 2
Ramon: 1

Dolvett finds himself struggling to push John, who doesn’t trust him, but it looks like his efforts are working as a sweaty John runs 9 miles an hour for 30 seconds.

Event number three is a trivia challenge.

What food group is the body’s best source of energy?
Grains and starches. Ex-NFL player Antone, who ate a lot of potatoes when he was training, is correct.

Which cheese has the least (fewest?) calories?
Mozzarella. Antone, John, Vinny, and Ramon all score a point.

Which of the following fruit contains the most sugar?
Grapes. Becky and Antone score a point.

How many calories must you cut from your daily intake to lose 1 pound a week?
500 calories. It’s simple math. 3500 divided by 7. Speaking of, math teacher Becky is the only person wrong.

2 tsp of sugar and 2 tsp of cream daily could add how much weight to the average person in a year?
10 pounds. That’s why I opt for skim milk and Equal. Becky, Vinny, and Antone are correct.

Which of the following foods has the most calories?
Onions. Twice as much as the other vegetables (mushrooms, asparagus, and broccoli). Antone is correct again.

How many calories can you save by using 4 oz. of lean ground turkey instead of 4 oz. of ground beef?
150 calories. Bonnie is correct, and Antone’s streak comes to an end.

After two events have been scored, the leaderboard is reshuffled. Antone’s strong trivia performance pushes him to the top, while Ramon remains at the bottom.

Antone: 11
Becky: 9
Sunny: 8
Bonnie: 7
Vinny: 7
John: 4
Ramon: 4

The fourth event involves hopping on a float and pulling themselves across a pool using ropes. Ramon finishes in 2:29. John completes it in 2:01 to take the lead. Vinny finishes in 2:08. Bonnie falls immediately after going 2.1 meters. Sunny takes the lead with a time of 1:24. Becky finishes in 2:10. Antone finishes in 2:09, making the difference between third and fifth just 2 seconds.

Antone retains the lead with Sunny bouncing back, while Ramon remains on the bottom.

Antone: 15
Sunny: 15
Becky: 12
Vinny: 12
John: 10
Bonnie: 8
Ramon: 6

Olympian Apolo Ohno joins them for the final event, a 1 mile run. Last place Ramon looks like he may be able to make a dent here. John’s also making a run for it. In third place, Sunny looks competitive enough that she should be able to overtake the leaderboard. On the other end of the scale is Bonnie, who will drop to last. Ramon finishes in a time of 9:10. John completes the course in 10:17. Sunny finishes in 11:10. Antone picks up the pace at the end to finish in 11:42, with Becky right behind him in 11:45. Vinny places sixth with a time of 14:42. Bonnie finishes in last place with a time of 26:28.

Sunny: 20
Antone: 19
John: 16
Becky: 15
Vinny: 14
Ramon: 13
Bonnie: 9

With four events tallied, there’s still the matter of the vote, which could potentially shake things up. Bonnie and Ramon are out of the running for the win, while Sunny and Antone will not lose. Unlike the other events, they will be scored based on the votes, from 0-7. Antone and Becky received votes from everybody. Sunny gets 5 votes. Bonnie, Ramon, and Vinny receive 4. John gets just 1, which does not bode well for his potential support down the road at the ranch. Whether they consider him a threat, not an ally, or some combination, he’s toast if he falls below the yellow line.

Antone: 26
Sunny: 25
Becky: 22
Vinny: 18
John: 17
Ramon: 17
Bonnie: 13

Antone wins the pentathalon and immunity. Sunny’s alphabetical order strategy seems to have backfired. I’ve seen that before. Bonnie receives a 1 pound disadvantage.

Antone: 339 pounds (-9, 2.59%) – over 100 pounds lost
Bonnie: 208 pounds (-5, +1, 1.88%)
John: 310 pounds (-9, 2.82%)
Vinny: 335 pounds (-10, 2.90%)
Sunny: 207 pounds (-9, 4.17%)
Becky: 182 pounds (-4, 2.15%)
Ramon: 273 pounds (-7, 2.50%)

For the first time this season, the yellow line is in play. The two remaining older team members, Bonnie and Becky, have fallen below the yellow line. Bonnie says she’s ready to go home, and she wants to see one of the three teachers win, one of whom is Becky.

Per her request, with 3 votes, Bonnie is not The Biggest Loser. From her starting weight of 254 pounds, Bonnie is down to 186 pounds today for a total of 68 pounds lost.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 10, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.

The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 8

After everybody split into new teams, Jessica was voted out in The Biggest Loser Season 12 Episode 7. This won’t end well, with her showmance still on campus.

Now we have to listen to Ramon complain (again). I hope this doesn’t go on for long. Vinny happily pokes him with a stick to stir the pot.

Each team will have one person represent them on the scale, and that person will be picked by their trainer.

Sunny says she’s getting tired, since they’re now in their eighth week.

Dolvett thinks Bonnie dodged a huge bullet. She’s not supposed to still be here.

Becky blames her father and his lack of acceptance of her for her weight gain, though she acknowledges he’s not the one who put the food in her mouth.

Today’s challenge is a cooking challenge that will be judged by last season’s winner Olivia and the author of The Biggest Loser cookbooks. The winning team’s recipe will be published in the new book, and they will also receive a 1 pound advantage, particularly important since only 1 weight will count for each team. They get 5 minutes to decide what they are cooking, and then they will have 30 minutes to cook, with the assistance of their trainers.

The red team cooks London Bridge, which I guess is supposed to be a clever play on words of some sort. Their dish is London broil. It’s rare. Rare enough that Olivia’s making faces. They also cook sweet potatoes and asparagus. The dish consists of 440 calories, 9 grams of fat, and very little sodium. 8% fat seems pretty light.

Blue team has cooked fajitas. Hardly sounds like a healthy dish, but they seem to have pulled it off. It is 300 calories and 11 grams of fat.

Black team makes pork and cole slaw. It looks like plenty of food on that plate, but it weighs in at only 210 calories. That low calorie account seems to be the thing that clinches the victory for them, as the black team wins the challenge. In addition to their prize, they get a lunch date with Olivia, who brings them gifts from home.

Dr. H is back with better news this time. But first, a lesson. Obese people want food more, but they get less pleasure from it, so they have to eat more to get the same pleasure as a lean person does. Now the good news: Ramon’s diabetes is gone.

After a particularly bad day of complaining when Jessica left, Ramon claims he’s over it, but he’s not.

At the weigh in, the trainers must make their picks. Bob chooses Becky for the black team, Anna picks Joe for the blue team, and Dolvett goes with John for the red team.

Bonnie: 213 pounds (-8, 3.62%)
John: 319 pounds (-10, 3.04%)
Red Total: 532 pounds (-18, 3.27%)

Dolvett didn’t make the right choice, but his second option was not bad either.

Antone: 348 pounds (-5, 1.42%)
Vinny: 345 pounds (-10, 2.82%)
Becky: 186 pounds (-6, -1, 3.65%)
Black Total: 878 pounds (-22, 2.44%)

Opting for the person with less to lose who could be safe with a smaller number, Bob made the right choice, though Vinny’s number would have been sufficient as well (with the 1 pound advantage).

Sunny: 216 pounds (-2, 0.92%)
Ramon: 280 pounds (-6, 2.10%)
Joe: 269 pounds (-2, 0.74%)

John dodges a bullet, as he would have been instantly eliminated had his team lost. Both as a group and with the twist, the blue team failed to put up the numbers. As the person with the highest percentage of weight loss on the losing team, Ramon is safe. Before we get to the vote, we get to listen to Ramon whine some more about how he doesn’t like his team. I get it, dude. Joe’s the obvious threat here.

Votes
Vinny: Joe
Bonnie: Joe
Antone: Joe

With 3 votes, Joe is not The Biggest Loser, surprised by the gameplay from his two friends. From his starting weight of 348 pounds, Joe is down to 230 pounds today. He’s even able to ride the rollercoaster (at Dollywood, which is apparently a real place) with his daughter.
