What thoroughly lame twist can we expect this year from Big Brother? There will be a Saboteur, somebody who will do as America instructs. So basically America’s Player, only not. It wasn’t bad enough they tried to ruin one season by having America completely determine the outcome?
“We’ve inserted a game piece into the show this season that will make life for the Houseguests harder than ever before,” stated Allison Grodner, Executive Producer of Big Brother. “This is a twist that will wreak havoc on the house and the audience will be a part of it.”
Although the houseguests will be aware someone is trying to sabotage them, who it is will remain a secret. The longer that person can survive, the more money they make.
CBS has unveiled a strangely unconfusing schedule for Big Brother 12. The 12th season will premiere on Thursday July 8.
That will kick off the rotation of the Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday (live eviction/HOH) schedule. The Wednesday schedule marks a departure from the typical Tuesday showing. Writers’ strike Big Brother 9 notwithstanding, this is the first time we’ve seen the show on Wednesday since 2003, and the first departure from the Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday schedule since Big Brother 5 and 6 wasted their time on Saturday night.
The good news is that the show’s schedule actually makes sense for the first time since All Stars. It’s on at 8/7c every show night. Weird.
Despite the fact that nobody in the house has the slightest clue how to play the game this year (even the brains were idiots), Big Brother 11 has continued to improve its ratings over previous seasons as the summer has progressed, thanks to the wacky/volatile cast. Combine that with the fact that Julie Chen (wife of CBS president/CEO Les Moonves) says she intends to keep hosting the show for years to come, and this announcement comes as no surprise.
CBS has announced plans to bring Big Brother back for season 12 for next summer. Although no details have been confirmed yet, I guarantee you there will be at least one horribly lame twist with the potential to derail the entire season.
