When mother and daughter fell below the yellow line in The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 12, Kimmy bowed out of the competition.
This week’s excuse: exercise is boring.
Their challenge is to load 150 boxes of food each on trucks. The first person to do that will have 30,749 pounds of food donated to their local food bank, 1 pound of food for every pound of weight ever lost on The Biggest Loser. They will also get a 1 pound advantage. Buddy will sit out due to medical restrictions. The challenge is ultimately a promotion for Newman’s Own, which I don’t think of when I think health food, though apparently they do have some healthier choices than the alternatives, but at any rate it sounds like a worthwhile company, as all of their after tax profits go to charity. This would seem to be Mark’s game to lose. Kim gets off to a strong start, but Mark finally passes her at the 122 box mark. Mark ends up winning. Then everybody else sits down. Unusual. To encourage them to finish, there is an added incentive: if they all finish, everybody’s hometown will receive a truck full of food.
Bob doesn’t get this week’s excuse because he doesn’t find exercise boring at all. Anyway, he plans to take them off the ranch. Dolvett has the same idea, taking his team to do a Zumba workout, which is apparently translated as bad dancing. As for Bob’s team, they are heading for a bike ride. He’s not sure how much fun it will be… but he promises it won’t be boring. Conda’s constant bitching is a testament to that. Megan never stops, flying off ahead of the pack.
They get to meet Jared, the guy who’s been replaced by the tagline $5 footlong.
Jeremy’s parents got divorced because of his father’s addictive personality. His lesson for the day: he has an addictive personality, too.
Megan had been following Bob’s directions. Loosely. So Bob makes her record herself on a diary cam. With that, she tells us she’s following his instructions exactly this week.
In their cooking challenge, they will have to come up with a recipe and find all the ingredients at the supermarket within 7 minutes. Then they will have 20 minutes to make their dishes. They will be judged on taste, creativity, and nutritional. The winner will receive $1,000 for every pound lost. Conda crosses the line with 3 minutes to spare, making a recipe that’s one of her favorites to cook. As for her brother, his cart is still completely empty. The rest of the contestants cut their shopping down to the wire, and Jeremy narrowly finishes with what as far as I can tell is peanutbutter and jelly. He goes a little more advanced: french toast. Without eggs.
Vinny, Antone, and Becky from season 12 (the final four, minus the winner) will be their judges.
Jeremy has cooked bread with bananas, jelly, and cream cheese. He has failed at his sole mission in this challenge: not embarrassing himself. Megan has learned to cook fresh fish while on the ranch, and she’s taking advantage of that new skill in this challenge. Conda made her favorite stew. Chris came up with her recipe quickly, but she took something of a risk by selecting chicken. Unable to complete her chicken, she’s done. Too much risk of illness for anybody to eat it. Mark and Buddy also go with chicken dishes that they are able to complete, but each of them make bad choices, feta cheese and regular mayonaise. Kim has never cooked the teriyaki filet she prepared, but she figured she would go for it anyway.
First place goes to Kim, who hates cooking. Then everybody mocks Jeremy. Antone tells Chris he didn’t care for her excuses, which makes her angry. His attempt to explain himself falls flat… and then Chris falls apart.
Kim: 164 pounds (-7, 4.09%) – $7,000 richer
Mark: 200 pounds (no change, -1, 0.50%)
Buddy: 269 pounds (-6, 2.18%)
Conda: 210 pounds (-7, 3.23%)
Jeremy: 260 pounds (-6, 2.26%)
Chris: 170 pounds (-4, 2.30%)
Megan: 191 pounds (-4, 2.05%)
In spite of being Bob’s focus this week, Megan falls below the yellow line again, a narrow 1 pound escape for Buddy, Jeremy, and Chris. She is joined by Mark, who lost no weight.
Votes
Jeremy: Megan
Conda: Megan
Chris: Megan
With 3 votes, Megan is not The Biggest Loser. From her starting weight of 259 pounds, she has lost 70 pounds and is now down to 189 pounds. She is now able to race her horse again, for the first time in 3 years, and she has also gotten engaged to someone who himself started a weight loss journey and lost 80 pounds.
Stay tuned to dinguRUE for another live recap of The Biggest Loser Season 13 Episode 14, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
Megan only lost two pounds after leaving the ranch. Very bad.
Hadn’t noticed, but it’s probably not a good sign of things to come. Still, I think she’ll do well by finale. The more likely issue is after the show’s over and the cameras go away. Most people gain back at least some of the weight, but if they find it a struggle within the show, it’s that much more difficult once it’s over.
