Following the black team’s trip to the elimination room in The Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 10, former red team member Sarah was eliminated. Probably should have tried her luck with the red team then.
This week, there is only one team, the blue team. Last week, they lost 64 pounds. If they can beat that this week, everybody will stay for at least one more week.
Now we pay another visit to Dr. H. Courtney’s body fat percentage is 35%. He tries to paint this as a positive, since it puts her in line with the average American woman. That said, this is not so much a testament to her (in spite of her effort thus far) but more a wake up call to the average American, considering morbidly obese and average are the same thing. Her mom’s body fat percentage is 23%. Moses is no longer going to die in 2025, and he’s added 19 years to his life. He promises to share what he’s learned with his community. Rulon has dropped from 62 inches down to 48.
At the pop challenge, they will be split into teams of two, one from the red team and one from the black team. Curtis Stone, who I see on my TV every other night (for which I’m sure Donald Trump would be more than happy to take credit), is joined by Lorena Garcia to judge the challenge. Their dishes will be cooked within 30 minutes and will be judged on originality, calories, and taste. The winning team will get The Biggest Loser meal plan from the time they leave the ranch right up until the finale.
Jennifer & Kaylee: turkey tostada, 350 calories
Olivia & Moses: baked cod, 170 calories
Justin & Irene: steak and cauliflower mash, 330 calories
Hannah & Ken: steak and salad, 230 calories; chocolate shake, 75 calories
Rulon & Marci: cod with cajun seasonings, 200 calories
Austin & Courtney: chocolate strawberry tortilla, 170 calories; chocolate almond shake, 75 calories
The top two teams were Kaylee & Jen and Olivia & Moses, with Olivia & Moses taking home the prize. Their entree was the lowest calories of the bunch and tasted really good.
Switching things up for this one week in which everybody’s on the same team, Bob & Jillian take the guys, while Brett & Cara take the girls.
Bob’s been looking forward to getting his hands on Olympic athlete Rulon. He’s there because he wants to have a family with his wife and not be dead in a few years.
Hannah hopes for redemption, feeling she now has the desire for a second chance at life.
Jillian wants to know why she can stop Austin from moving on the treadmill, all 115 pounds of her. For the first time, he’s doing something for himself, and she wants him to prove it to her.
Alison greets them for another challenge. This challenge will lead them underground for a series of trivia questions, once again split into teams of two. They will be pulling rope and digging their way through the questions. With each passing question, two new people will join to assist those already pulling. If the team completes the challenge in less than an hour and a half, they will get a 5 pound advantage. If it takes longer than that, they will get a 5 pound disadvantage.
How much weight was lost week 1? Rulon & Marci guess 481 pounds. Incorrect. The correct answer is 418 pounds. After 20 minutes, they finally get past the first question.
Who weighed the most when the season started? Don, not Dan. Hannah & Ken are correct. Hannah hears a pop in her hand, thinking perhaps she broke a finger, so Justin will get in there for her. They move on at just over 1 hour.
To date, The Biggest Loser US cast has lost more than 12 tons. True. The next question takes just 7 minutes to dig up.
How much did Arthur say he weighed at his heaviest? Courtney knows the answer to this, 646 pounds, feeling she has a connection with him since they both lost a lot of weight before coming to the ranch. They get through this question with about 12 minutes left, at which time everybody is in the game and must pull their way to the finish line, right back where they started.
In a close finish with just six seconds to spare, they win the challenge to gain a 5 pound advantage.
With this challenge win, they all have one common goal at the weigh in, to lose more than 59 pounds, which works out to an average of 5 pounds each. If they fail to meet that goal, two people will fall below the yellow line, and they will have to vote one of them off.
Jen: 191 pounds (-5, 2.55%)
Hannah: 176 pounds (-4, 2.22%)
Olivia: 185 pounds (-3, 1.60%)
Justin: 249 pounds (-5, 1.97%)
Rulon: 335 pounds (-7, 2.05%)
Ken: 270 pounds (-7, 2.53%)
Austin: 275 pounds (-8, 2.83%)
Courtney: 237 pounds (-4, 1.66%)
Irene: 178 pounds (-2, 1.11%)
Moses: 303 pounds (-6, 1.94%)
Marci: 162 pounds (no change)
Kaylee: 176 pounds (+2, 1.15%)
As a team, they fell short of their 60 pound weight loss goal by 11 pounds. The two people who failed to lose weight this week fall below the yellow line, so it’s a choice between Marci or Kaylee, one person from the red team and one person from the black team. Marci volunteers to fall on the sword. I have a problem with this offer, as I have had with each time the parents on the black team have made a similar offer. By sending herself home, Marci would be giving the red team the 6-5 advantage. Yeah, it’s all one big happy family, yada, yada, yada, but after this week, the numbers are back to mattering again.
