The Biggest Loser Season 10 Episode 8

The Biggest Loser Season 10 Episode 7 happened last week, which was news to me. In it, Anna was eliminated.

It’s no longer black vs. blue. They are going back to their individual colors, but this is not singles week. This week, they are competing as pairs, to be chosen by one person. At the end of this week, two people will be eliminated.

Mark’s worried he will be paired with a weak partner. Ada hopes to be paired up with one of the guys because the girls this year have been thoroughly lackluster.

Lisa, however, says there are times when she wants to go home, which she knows people are sick of hearing (I am). This is a slap in the face to Adam, who actually did want to stick around. She’s back to 60/40, wanting to be there 60%. She just can’t embrace this experience. If she can’t embrace the experience on the ranch, she’s going to have a hell of a time trying to do so when she goes home.

Everybody meets Alison for dinner. The assumption is that it’s a temptation. She seats everybody in the order of weight loss, a reminder some people may not have wanted to be pointed out. Their task is simple: eat the most calories at dinner. They will select an appetizer, main course, and dessert. While they have some indication based on the description what’s healthy and what’s not, this is all a guessing game.

Appetizers
Mark: 200 calories
Ada: 530 calories
Jesse: 460 calories
Frado: 200 calories
Aaron: 450 calories
Brendan: 1000 calories
Patrick: 200 calories
Lisa: 200 calories
Jessica: 200 calories
Elizabeth: 570 calories

The five people who ordered the tricolore salad (Mark, Frado, Patrick, Lisa, and Jessica) don’t seem to have any interest in tonight’s temptation. Everybody else appears to be in it, most notable being Brendan and his ridiculous 1000 calorie appetizer.

Main course
Frado: 1300 calories
Aaron: 2500 calories
Brendan: 2500 calories
Elizabeth: 1400 calories

So I guess Frado is in it then, sort of. Brendan and Aaron are the real players here, though. Brendan makes an offer to Aaron: stop eating right now, and I’ll give you Jesse if that’s who you want. For some reason, Aaron accepts, falling right into Brendan’s trap, but if he gets his way, it may be the right choice because at least he won’t be blamed.

Dessert
Brendan: 950 calories
Lisa: 1400 calories
Elizabeth: 950 calories

Regardless of whether he finishes, Brendan has already won, so he decides to stop at 3500 calories and not bother with the dessert. With no chance of winning, Lisa chows down on her hefty dessert.

Although he does not have any control and has instead handed all the control away to Brendan, Aaron gets his wish, and Jesse is his partner. Brendan’s best friend Frado is paired with the person with the highest percentage of weight loss for the season, Mark. Having asked to be paired together, Lisa and Elizabeth get their wish. Why would they want that? Brendan is paired with Patrick. That leaves Jessica and Ada as the final team, and the women have been set up to be picked off.

Ada doesn’t like these choices at all. She feels betrayed by somebody she trusted, not understanding why he kept his word to Aaron.

Bob calls Lisa out. She doesn’t want to be there anyway. That said, who is her poor, poor teammate? He feels sorry for Elizabeth, but Elizabeth got what she asked for. His warning for Lisa: give it all, or you’re gone. No more of this 60% nonsense.

Now to Brendan. What’s up with this stacking of the deck of the girls against the guys? His goal was simple: keep himself, Patrick, and Frado safe. Whatever happens to everybody else is not his problem.

The challenge is to make a tower of sugar cubes 5 feet high. They’ve gotta get them there one cube at a time. Reward is a week long trip to The Biggest Loser Resort with three guests. 20 minutes in, Jesse and Aaron are in first place, but their structure is not very stable and collapses. With a similar strategy, Lisa and Elizabeth have also had theirs collapse. They are not alone. After 35 minutes, there’s not much progress from anybody. 55 minutes in, Alison tells them they will get a sugar rush at 1 hour. They are granted two minutes to grab as much sugar as they can, using only their hands. This provides everybody with a good amount of sugar. Jesse and Aaron have no chance, but at least they are having fun with it, appearing as if they have a contact sugar high. Jessica and Ada are running away with this challenge, so long as their stack does not collapse. They are the first to reach 5 feet. Their stack remains, and they win.

One week, Lisa lost a lot of weight, which she credits Bob’s diet that week for. So she decided to cook the meals on this diet for Elizabeth. I didn’t think anything of it, but Bob and Jillian are furious. After that blow up at Elizabeth is over, it’s time for the weigh in.

Mark: 317 pounds (-12, 3.65%) – first player to lose 100 pounds this season
Frado: 276 pounds (-18, 6.12%)
Team Total: 593 pounds (-30, 4.82%)

Aaron: 380 pounds (-4, 1.04%)
Jesse: 280 pounds (-16, 5.41%)
Team Total: 660 pounds (-20, 2.94%)

Lisa: 234 pounds (-8, 3.31%)
Elizabeth: 205 pounds (-8, 3.76%)
Team Total: 439 pounds (-16, 3.52%)

In spite of Bob and Jillian’s complaining, these are some solid numbers for Lisa and Elizabeth (granted, they are to be expected since last week was pretty much just a waste), whether they want to be there or not. Lisa says she does want to be there, but she’s not allowed to say it in front of Bob. Jillian tells her to just go home, and Frado agrees. Shouting match between everybody ensues. Lisa’s argument is that she doesn’t want to be a quitter, but everybody else wants to keep her there because she’s weak.

Patrick: 311 pounds (-19, 5.76%)
Brendan: 280 pounds (-18, 6.04%)
Team Total: 591 pounds (-37, 5.89%)

Jessica: 228 pounds (-12, 5.00%)
Ada: 198 pounds (-6, 2.94%)
Team Total: 426 pounds (-18, 4.05%)

Brendan’s plan worked, and his alliance remains intact. Jesse & Aaron and Lisa & Elizabeth have fallen below the yellow line. The decision now comes down to whether to get rid of the threats or to take out the team that doesn’t seem to have their heads in the game.

Votes
Mark & Frado: Aaron & Jesse
Jessica & Ada: Lisa & Elizabeth
Patrick & Brendan: Aaron & Jesse

With two votes, Aaron & Jesse are not the Biggest Loser. Jesse does not take this personally from anybody… except Patrick.
