Hell’s Kitchen Season 8 Episode 8

Following a lame non-elimination ceremony, nobody was sent home in Hell’s Kitchen Season 8 Episode 7 because they finally had a good service after six trainwrecks. Tonight is the 100th dinner service for Hell’s Kitchen.

Jillian says that she didn’t think Sabrina did badly. So why vote for her when the instructions were to vote based on the service?

The teams meet at a market to create beef, pork, lamb, and chicken dishes. Each person is responsible for cooking one dish (Jillian and Gail will be partnered). They are given $60 and 20 minutes to shop. Russell considers shopping with his team to be like shopping with three children. On the other team, Sabrina wants to do lamb and lentils. Oh, and by the way, Sabrina wants to do lamb and lentils. Yeah, I don’t think they care. Blue team is on budget, but red team exceeds their budget by $6.97. They take out one chicken breast, blaming Sabrina, who told them over and over and over again she was doing lentils, while they completely ignored her.

After the shopping trip, they have 45 minutes to cook their dish. Let’s hope Sabrina has enough time then because her lentils take exactly that long. They ask if she needs help, but she doesn’t want it, hoping to prove she deserves to be there. Russell, who refused to help Rob at the last service, now wants to be the boss of everybody.

The meat dishes will now be priced by the judges.

Nona and Rob are up with the beef. Nona’s beef is very tender, but her broccoli leaves something to be desired. Rob’s food is very light and nice, but why are there so many onions? Nona gets $32, while Rob gets $26.

Boris and Gail cooked the pork. Boris’ color is good, but his pork is dry. Gail’s peaches are great, but her pork is a bit bland. Red team gets $28; blue team gets $26.

Russell and Trev are up for the battle of the chicken. This should narrow the gap. Russell’s chicken is juicy and flavorful, but the potatoes are undercooked. Trev’s skin is cooked nicely, but the carrots are undercooked. Trev gets $22, while Russell gets $26.

Vinny and Sabrina have the final dish, lamb. Sabrina’s lame is cooked really well, and the judge likes the red wine sauce. Vinny’s dish has plenty of flavor, although it doesn’t look very good. Blue team gets $23; red team gets $28.

Red team wins the challenge, with only Trev failing to impress. As much as they want to get rid of Sabrina, there’s clearly a weaker link.

For their reward, the red team will get a waterfront dinner. The blue team will clean up the place for a black tie dinner. They will also cover up the kitchens for fumigation. Russell blames his teammates for the loss. His win against the weakest competition counts for something in his mind.

Trev says he’s glad, feels he’s on the right team now, and he thinks he’s earned his spot with them. They disagree.

Boris is tired of Russell, who hopes Boris gets deported tonight. On the other team, Trev has a bad attitude (different than his normal bad attitude).

The VIP’s at this evening’s service are Rock, Christina, Danny (unrecognizeable with his male length hair), and Holli, the winners from seasons 3, 4, 5, and 7.

Boris is falling behind at the beginning. Rob insists on stepping in to help bail him out. In the other kitchen, Nona starts out fine. Problem is she makes the same mistake Vinny made last time, using the risotto, with the assurance of Gail that it will be okay.

Boris continues to struggle, but Rob continues to help him out, while Russell continues to stand and watch. Rock has decided he likes Boris.

Trev’s falling apart on garnish. He doesn’t know what he’s supposed to be cooking or what goes with what. When he does deliver, it’s not good. The winners think he’s a goner.

One diner on the blue side has returned “chewy” lobster. Vinny dismisses it as just one dish. Same table, same complaint again, three times altogether.

Although he protested before, Trev eventually demands help from Sabrina. He could use a hand from Nona, too. Ramsay says that Gail may as well get on garnish as well to round things out. We are amused.

Rob asks what he needs. He’d really like to know. Russell doesn’t care. He deliberately ignores him. I’ve never seen anything quite like this. This guy needs to be thrown out.

Still unable to get his act together, Trev can go outside and take some fresh air. That should improve things for the red team. Nona hops on garnish, and the team begins to get things done.

Vinny follows the lack of chicken from Rob with poorly cooked lobster. When Rob finally delivers chicken, it’s pink. That’s bad news. The blue team is dismissed.

Trev returns for the final table for the red team. He may have returned, but they didn’t need him, having been better off without him.

Obviously, the ladies won tonight. Oh, and Trev’s lucky enough to be on their team. The blue team will pick two nominees.

Rob says they all suck. Russell votes for Boris as usual, as well as Vinny. Boris votes for Russell and Rob. Rob votes for Boris due to him being behind (at least he has a reason) and Vinny. Vinny votes for Rob for inaccurate times and Boris because he doesn’t want to vote Russell. That brings us to Boris and then one other person. How do they break the tie?

Boris is the first nominee. They still haven’t broken the tie between Rob and Vinny. All three can step forward, while that jackass Russell remains safe. The person leaving Hell’s Kitchen is Boris.

It’s not over yet. Ramsay needs to hear from Trev. To be continued…
