When Sunshine and O’Neal fell below the yellow line together in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 15, she (some would say selfishly) begged to stay, and her father willingly fell on the sword for her and was sent home.
It’s makeover week. There are two limos waiting to take them shopping, and each person will be getting $1000.
Sam is no longer wearing an XXXXXX. He’s shopping for L’s now. Sunshine is unable to fit into clothes in the big and tall store (or whatever they call it for women) because they don’t have anything lower than size 12. Even after 183 pounds, Michael still has to to go the specialty store, frustrated trying to find stuff that can fit.
After they go shopping, they meet with Jonathan Antin from Shear Genius. Michael’s getting ready to lose a couple pounds in the chair. Daris has enough hair to trim that he can donate some to Locks of Love. And they get to (mostly) shave off everybody’s unfortunate facial hair as well.
Following their makeovers, they get to meet up with their families. Although this happens every season, everybody always seems so surprised. From there, they head with their families to a comfy show, with a live performance by Ashanti, who from what we’re told is an actress/singer/songwriter/etc. who used to sell a lot of albums.
Now that the makeover’s done, it’s time to get dirty. They see Jacobs Ladders suspended above a pool. They’ll continue to climb their ladders until they make a splash. Reward is a 1 pound advantage. First person to fall in gets a 1 pound disadvantage. Ashley’s a rung behind everybody else, and she is the first person to fall in the water after 3.5 minutes. Michael falls in at 5 minutes. Everybody else just keeps going and going. Sunshine starts to fall behind and drops at 45 minutes. That leaves grey team against Daris again. At 55 minutes, Sam falls, spoiling the tag team hopes. Both Daris and Koli say they’re feeling comfortable now. 80 minutes. 90 minutes. 2 hours. Still going. Then another 15 minutes. And another. Ali’s about ready to order out for pizza, or Subway. After 2.5 hours, Daris says “Ah, screw it,” and Koli wins the challenge.
Bob finds it unacceptable that Daris just quit the challenge, although he was physically able to continue. This is like tripping at the 1 yard line. Wanting to teach him a lesson, Bob beats him at the last chance workout, telling him to not worry about any pain or any falling off a rapidly moving treadmill.
Koli: 244 pounds (-15, -1, 6.18%) – over 150 pounds lost
Michael: 334 pounds (-9, 2.62%)
Daris: 205 pounds (-9, 4.21%)
Sunshine: 178 pounds (-9, 4.81%)
Sam: 238 pounds (-2, 0.83%)
Ashley: 238 pounds (-10, +1, 3.63%) – 136 pounds lost, a new female on campus record
That puts Michael and Sam below the yellow line. An interesting decision. Michael’s one of the biggest threats there, but he’s going to give an emotional “I need to be here” plea, as if the others don’t. As a firstish time offender, I’ll go easy on him, though. That said, everybody knows Sam isn’t going to win, but the two grey shirts double teaming them is starting to frustrate some people. Sam might be guaranteed easy pickings in the finale, but he’s also a free vote for Koli (and vice versa).
Votes
Koli: Michael
Sunshine: Michael
Ashley: Sam
Daris: Sam
In the event of a tie, the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss is eliminated. With 2 votes, Sam is not The Biggest Loser. From his starting weight of 372 pounds, Sam is now down to 236 pounds. He’s not trying to lose any more weight, having already reached his goal weight. He’s also found himself a new roommate, Stephanie from earlier this season.
