The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 12

Stephanie was sent packing in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 11, but we ended the show with on extra person since both Victoria and Melissa returned.

Melissa doesn’t get why the rest of the house is not playing the game still. Here we are in week 12, and they’re talking about some steel sharpening steel nonsense.

With the simple push of a button, somebody could win immunity. Each person gets a card, which gets them access to the scale any time they want. Each card tells them how much weight they have to lose. The first person to lose more than 2% of their body weight this week wins immunity. They only get one shot, and nobody gets to try once somebody else gets immunity. Last week, 7 out of 12 people did not reach 2% by the weigh in, and 3 of the other 5 made it by a pound. When they hit that button, everybody will know because they’ll hear the sound of a siren that sounds like a tornado warning. Furthermore, if they hit the mark successfully, they will have those extra days added to the following week.

Melissa’s wheels are spinning as usual. Bob warns her that if she plays the game, it can bite her in the ass, so she needs to tread carefully.

Dr. H says it’s perfectly safe for them to lose 2% of their weight in terms of fat. However, if they lose muscle, water, etc., it may potentially be dangerous.

Sunshine has decided that she’d rather hit below 200 pounds than weighing in early.

The evening of day 2, somebody hits that button. Way too early. It’s Victoria. She has to lose 6 pounds, but she has not yet hit that mark.

To win the challenge, they will need to carry 100 1-pound weights from the bottom of the swimming pool. Reward is a two week trip for two to The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge. The penalty for coming in last is a one pound disadvantage at the weigh in. When they’re done getting all their weights, they’re free to help a friend, or not. There are colored weights everywhere.

Sunshine takes the early lead, and Sam is right behind her. People start getting kicked in the head pretty quickly as everybody goes down for weights in the same spot at the same time. Sunshine hits 50 first. Sam is right behind her at 50 as well. Victoria is 48. The rest of the field is out of it with Michael and O’Neal competing for last at this point, although it’s pretty clear that once Sunshine finishes, she’ll boost her father to safety. Sunshine’s still got that lead at 90, as Sam retains his gap of a few steps. At 98, Sam finally passes her by a second, but she retakes the lead on the final leg to win the challenge. Her immediate goal is to save her father, who’s been running in last place throughout the challenge. Koli says he’s fine, and he sends Sam to help O’Neal as well. Victoria finishes third, an impressive showing for someone who just got to campus. Once O’Neal’s safe, they have another option to pursue: they can screw over Melissa, who’s been running third to last. That’s exactly what happens. She’s amused they’re helping one of the biggest players in the house. However, this shows that she may be playing the game, but she’s not necessarily playing it smart. All these people who have alliances are the ones who aren’t guaranteed to be dead in the water the first time they go under the line.

Sam and Koli wait until everybody goes to sleep to get in a good workout. They plan to hit that buzzer in the morning. There’s no question that Melissa will be pressing that button. She’s awake at 3:00 on the fourth day working out. That morning, Andrea wakes up to the sounds of a siren. It’s Sam. He has 6 pounds to lose. Not only has he made it, but he’s actually lost 10 pounds, or 3.82%.

Jillian wants Sunshine to be an independent woman, rather than living her life under her father. That encourages her to go to O’Neal and tell him she feels proud of herself for the first time and can do it on her own.

Koli: 276 pounds (-5, 1.78%)
Daris: 233 pounds (-4, 1.69%)
Michael: 372 pounds (-9, 2.36%) – over 150 pounds lost
Ashley: 264 pounds (-7, 2.58%)
Sunshine: 195 pounds (-7, 3.47%, immune)
O’Neal: 283 pounds (-8, 2.75%) – over 100 pounds lost
Victoria: 272 pounds (-11, 3.89%)
Andrea: 225 pounds (-2, 0.88%) – complaining it’s all for nothing
Melissa: 175 pounds (-3, +1, 1.12%)

That puts Melissa and Andrea below the yellow line. No point in even bothering with the formality of a vote. Neither can win, but this vote is personal. Andrea claims she realized this week that she deserves to be in the final four, although that begs the question what all that talk about the week being a waste of time was about. Melissa’s argument is that she’s the safer choice. In terms of potential weight loss, she’s certainly the lesser threat, even if her results of weight loss percentage throughout the season thus far are about the same as Andrea’s.

Votes
Koli: Melissa
O’Neal: Melissa
Daris: Melissa
Michael: Melissa
Victoria: Melissa

With 5 votes, Melissa is not The Biggest Loser. She says that her marriage with Lance has now been saved. 6 weeks later, they run a half marathon for her 40th birthday, apparently without a ride from a producer.
