Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 5

They wanted to vote out Darren in Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina Episode 4 but had to settle for Lady Lea instead after he used the hidden immunity idol.

Okkert’s starting to become the provider for his tribe following Hein’s visit. This may well prove a threat to Gys.

Timbila finds it awkward to have gotten rid of someone else other than Darren. They all say they’re mad at him because of what he said at tribal council. As if they liked him before.

Gys and Okkert are looking to get rid of either Sade or Hanna to break up their alliance. As the only non-Afrikaans speaker, Sade’s starting to feel like an outcast. She also realizes she’s useless at challenges.

The challenge is for reward and immunity. One tribe member will be a swimmer and make their way out to the raft. Then the remaining tribe members will pull that person and raft back to shore. The puzzle pieces will be used to build a ladder to get to the top of the tower. Reward will be chickens. Louw and Okkert are the swimmers. Both of the tribes are struggling to untie the knot to give their swimmers enough slack. Timbila is struggling a lot more, though, which is further complicated by Louw not being as strong a swimmer as Okkert, who at one point was one of the top athletes in the world. Okkert is the first to reach the platform and the raft, and he’s the first to get the raft undone. Their rope comes untied from the raft, but the wasted time is not enough to cost them the lead. Louw finally unlatches the raft, so his tribe can start pulling it in now that the other tribe is already on the beach. Chibudu’s established a lead that once again doesn’t look like it can be overcome, leading by about five steps. Chibudu wins immunity and reward.

Darren assumes he’s a goner again. Louw says that perhaps it might be good to keep him around since he’s the most skilled at the game, but that doesn’t seem to be a truthful statement. Just in case, he has a backup plan: Kaseran.

Ashley warns Kas that Louw’s trying to rally support against him. They’d like to keep ProVerb around as a swing vote, but they find him of no other use.

Darren has a last dying request for the tribe: just hold back for one more time.

At tribal council, Izak says there’s a group of 4 or 5 people. So who else is the odd man out? Darren says he’ll see Kas soon. Pro doesn’t have an understanding what’s going on within the tribe.

Playing with their minds one last time, Darren pretends he’s going for a hidden idol, only to open an empty pocket.
