The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 10

The last remaining mom was eliminated in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 9 when Sherry went home.

All of the remaining contestants are going home for a week. They’re all quite happy about this, but it’s usually bad news.

They don’t even have time to get settled in before being greeted by a huge box in the middle of their living room. Could be a thousand cupcakes. Could be Jillian. It’s an exercise bike, a massive mess of packing peanuts, and a mystery box. Yeah, that box would contain cupcakes, along with a DVD. They will be repeating the first challenge by riding 26.2 miles (this time without a partner). Reward is $10,000. So what’s up with the cupcakes? Each one contains 100 calories. For every one they eat, they can add 5 minutes to someone else’s time. O’Neal will not participate for medical reasons, but he hates that bike anyway, seeing as it sent him home the first time.

Some of them are honest about having sweet teeth, but I hate it when these contestants pretend they’re revolted by foods they used to love. Healthy eating is about balance. Cold turkey for life ain’t gonna cut it. Ashley has decided not to eat any cupcakes. Melissa is pushing Lance to give some minutes to Sam. Sam & Koli will not be eating. Michael and Andrea also target Sam. Now Melissa suggests that Lance target Daris. Sunshine opts to not eat. Stephanie as well. Lance ends up eating 17 cupcakes with his wife sitting there egging him on the whole time. Andrea ate 9. Michael ate 6.

Lance & Melissa, living out in the country an hour from the gym, have to make it work without. They find ways to exercise at home, such as the exercise machines they bought two years ago and used as clothes hangers.

O’Neal’s a firm believer of pushing himself, even if it means an injury. He insists he’s fine, and he’s the dad, so that’s it.

Ashley’s reunited with her mom and looking for payback against the blue team.

Sam wants to get rid of all that unhealthy and high calorie food, going shopping for something he actually is allowed to eat.

Ashley goes out to lunch, where she’s forced to salivate over what her family is eating, but she changes her order so that it’s good for her.

Andrea goes to the bowling alley. Good luck finding something to eat there.

Daris has hooked up with his friend Randi, heading out on his first date. He’s also confident to make a fool out of himself singing karaoke without any liquid encouragement.

Daris doesn’t like bikes much. Stephanie just doesn’t want to finish last. Their family members all get cell phones, which they will use to get minutely updates how the race is progressing. It’s not long before Sam & Koli take the lead. Sunshine’s about a mile behind Sam after 10 miles. Lance is running about even with her. Sam’s the first to reach 13.1. It goes without saying that this is Sam’s to win, as everybody expected during the temptation. Lance, however, has managed to overtake Koli, who proved to be a bigger threat than perhaps people expected. Sam completes the race in 1 hour and 17 minutes. That ain’t gonna come close to holding. I’d expect him around 2 hours. In 1:18:40, Koli places second. 21 seconds later, Lance finishes. Sunshine takes 4th place at 1:23:29. Daris finishes at 1:25:35. Andrea finishes at 1:36:35. Stephanie finishes at 1:37:05. Ashley finishes at 1:40:48. Michael considers it a win to just finish, and he completes the challenge in 1:41:30.

Allison tells them it ain’t over yet. A lot of cupcakes were eaten. Stephanie had 7 cupcakes added to her time, dropping her into last place. Sam had 10 cupcakes added, dropping him to 8th place. Andrea had 5 cupcakes added, which puts her in 7th. Sunshine received 6 cupcakes, which drops her to 6th. Daris received 4 cupcakes, putting him in 5th. Lance, Ashley, and Michael had no cupcakes added. Koli, likewise, did not have any cupcakes added, so he is the winner.

Daris says he had a few days that he didn’t feel like he got in what he should have. O’Neal agrees there were a lot of distractions. Lance also didn’t bother exercising sometimes due to guilt about not spending enough time with his family. As for Michael, his mind was on his grandmother, who’s not progressing, but at least he’s dealing with stress by exercising rather than eating.

O’Neal: 295 pounds (-7, 2.32%)
Sunshine: 208 pounds (-8, 3.70%)
Lance: 274 pounds (-8, 2.84%)

Koli: 287 pounds (-10, 3.37%)
Daris: 244 pounds (-4, 1.61%)
Blue Total: -45 pounds, 2.58%

Andrea: 232 pounds (-6, 2.52%)

Ashley: 276 pounds (-10, 3.50%)
Sam: 264 pounds (-14, 5.04%)
Black Total: -39 pounds, 3.86%

While it would be easy to point some fingers, blue team just got owned, so it’s hard to really blame anybody. Sunshine has the highest percentage of weight loss on her team and is safe.

Votes
Koli: Lance
Michael: Lance
Lance: Michael
O’Neal: Lance
Daris: Lance

As sensible decisions go, that was not one. With 4 votes, Lance is not The Biggest Loser. When he arrives home, he’s able to do stuff with his son, like climbing that mountain he’s been looking at for years.
