Survivor: Marquesas Episode 5

The tribe shuffle bit her in the butt, and Sarah was voted out in Survivor: Marquesas Episode 4.

Sean’s done. He doesn’t even want to bother trying to either work or fit in with anyone.

John says that you have to be honest throughout the game. He ain’t gonna win. So he asks Gabe whether he’d lie to win the game. Gabe’s not even there to play the game. He just wants to build a society with a bunch of different people.

Maraamu is happy to have Sarah gone. They’re all getting along for a change. Maybe they can actually win for once. By complete accident, they manage to get some crab meat, which means protein for all.

The reward challenge is to gather pieces of a tiki while blindfolded. Reward is to visit the losing tribe’s beach and raid the camp. Vecepia, Sean, Rob, and Zoe sit out for Rotu. Gabe is the caller for Rotu; Kathy is the caller for Maraamu. John is the first to return with a piece. Both Gina and Paschal return with one for Maraamu. Tammy’s also got the second one for Rotu. Tammy returns with another one for Rotu, and Robert’s got two. Rotu’s up 9-7. John returns with the last one for Rotu, or at least that’s what Gabe thinks anyway. Probst tells him there’s one more left. As he’s wondering where the remaining piece is, Maraamu gets their last piece and is working on the puzzle. Gabe finally figures out where the last piece is, but it’s too late. Maraamu wins reward. That was different.

They have two minutes to decide what they want to take, with the exception of one knife, one cooking pot, one water container, the magnifying glass, and any personal items. They take a massive amount of supplies. It’s not just three items like usual. It’s whatever they can get their hands on. This is obscene. The tribe that wins one challenge gets to catch up because of that one challenge, erasing everything the others have earned over weeks of winning. This marks Gina’s first win in 13 days, and she’s got blankets, pillows, lanterns, and another water jug to show for it.

Gabriel is trying to get along with the new members of Rotu. Not a feeling shared by the other four. John keeps pushing and pushing Gabe for an answer, an answer that’s not forthcoming, so he plans to vote him out. John makes a final four alliance with the other members of old Rotu.

The immunity challenge is yet another challenge that requires no physical strength at all, so it’s again something Maraamu may be able to win. It’s the signal challenge. They intend to use the blankets that they got in the lame raid. Gina wants to win because she wants one of her former tribemates gone. If you turn on your tribe that easily, what are the odds anyone’s going to trust you, since you can just do the same to them? Robert, John, Gabe, and Tammy sit out for Rotu. Robert’s not happy with the people he’s stuck depending on. They’ve built a black sign. You really think a ship’s going to see black? Granted, it’s not like they have white blankets any more. The captain’s attention wouldn’t be attracted by Rotu’s signal. It goes without saying, but Maraamu wins immunity. Whoever planned the raid challenge right before this challenge should have thought about what they were doing. One challenge win directly resulted in the other win.

John’s paranoid that the other three will join Gabe in a vote to create a tie, so he goes to Sean to offer him a deal. His offer to him: I’ll get you to the merge. Just to the merge? If I’m Sean, I’m going to deliberately try to force a tie. That’s exactly what Sean plans to do. John would deserve to be voted out for being an idiot and not just keeping this plan to himself. In addition to that, by voting Gabe out, he’s failed to clear this plan with the three ex-Rotu on the other island. 4 is not a big enough alliance to win with. The only problem with getting Gabe on their side is that he’s really not playing the game.

By a unanimous vote, Gabe has been voted off the island. He had a chance to save himself, but he failed to bother with it. He got out before he had to play the game, so he’s fine with being eliminated.

At the voting booth, Rob’s got a message for John: he knows exactly what he’s doing, and first chance he gets, he’s gonna get him.
