So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 Episode 13

The top 14 danced on So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 Episode 12, and tonight two more will go home.

Randi & Evan are safe. Karla & Vitolio are in the bottom three as usual.

Janette & Brandon are safe. Melissa & Ade are also safe. That leaves Kayla & Kupono in the bottom three. Mia is shocked because they gave the best performance last night, and it does not appear she will vote against either of them.

Caitlin & Jason are safe despite that creepy alien routine. Phillip & Jeanine are in the bottom three.

Karla, Vitolio, Kayla, Kupono, Phillip, and Jeanine will be dancing for their lives.

The judges are unanimous in their decision about the girls. Jeanine’s solo was the strongest of the evening, so she is safe. Kayla’s usually brilliant, but tonight she was not really dancing from the heart. Karla hasn’t quite captured the same star quality she had at the beginning, so she will be going home. She will remember that contemporary dance and all the friends she’s made.

The judges are again unanimous with the guys. Phillip is great at what he does, although tonight was a little desperate. He still has a lot of work to manage the other genres he does from week to week, but they’re going to give him the shot to keep doing that. Vitolio looks like a major star on stage but doesn’t really deliver anything apart from a great presence. Kupono’s solo was weak. Vitolio is joining his partner in going home. He will take with him the compliments from people how he inspires them.

  1. “Karla & Vitolio are in the bottom three as usual.” I see you have conveniently forgotten that Kayla & Kupono have been in the bottom three just as many times. Kaylas performance in her solo with her writhing and jumping is akin to someone having a Seizure on stage with the uncoordinated movements and lack of any real form while Kupono only stands there and tries to look pretty while smiling. These two have had the simplest and easiest routines given to them and still make amateurish mistakes and yet Kayla get saved because she “is the judges and choreographers favorites because of those long beautiful legs.” and Kupono because of his “Crazy and Wild clothes” and the fact he makes the costumes for his routines. Kupono and Kayla WILL be in the bottom 3 again this next week because of their weak performance and again despite being in the bottom 3 for thr 4th time will be spared even if Randi, Evan, Janette, Brandon, Philip, Jeanine, Melissa, and Ade are down there with them, and despite and of the above named competitors are so much better than they are simple because of favoritism, and despite these kinds of eliminations needing to be based primarily on that single performance with references back to the previous time they have individually performed and with penalties based on how many times they have been in said position. In a competition of skill, form, and endurance what kind of message are you sending to the other competitors when you send stronger competitors that coordinate their moves and push themselves to their fullest to raise the bar and make things more difficult over all over individuals that just stand there and smile, twirl once or twice, jump, hop around and writhe around in a mess on the stage instead of keeping the stronger competitors and raising the bar making it that much more difficult to stay out of the bottom 3?
