Biggest Loser 3 Recap: Tiffany Eliminated

This weeks episode of the Biggest Loser 3 kicked off with both the Red and Blue teams getting a bit of a training surprise. Both teams hopped into four gorgeous old Ford Mustangs and headed for the beach, where they would be training. Sand + Exercise = Way harder and lots of sore muscles. Ouchy!

But before leaving for the beach, Ken gets some really sad news from home and learns that his 19 year old son has been in the CCU (critical care unit) for the past three days, likely as a result of an infection due to surgery he received. He pulls Kim out of the room and she comforts him, gives him a big hug and tries to get him back in the game. After that both the blue and red teams get together and pray for Kens son. I’m personally an atheist, but the fact that everyone was willing to sit down together and pray for Ken’s son struck me as very awesome. These people really do care about eachother a lot, it’s a great thing to see people care for each other in a reality TV show, instead of the usual hate, venom and disdain.

The first beach workout for both teams was hardcore. Both Bob and Kim were pushing the red and blue teams to the max and working them like dogs. There was some definite shedding of poundage as a result of this workout.

Temptation Challenge:

  • 20+ sand castles are laid out in a grid, under each sand castle is either a chocolate bar, carrot stick or immunity.
  • Some of the contestants, mainly Pam, consider giving in, in the hopes of finding immunity.
  • In the end, both the red and blue teams refuse to give in and no one from either tribe takes part in the temptation challenge. Good work guys!

Once back from the tempation challenge the Biggest Loser 3 contestants get to have the very first Biggest Loser BBQ. The trainers say that the average calories taken in at a BBQ are around 2,500 and can get even higher, but those calories are required to have a good BBQ. Healthy romaine salads, veggies, fruits and turkey burgers are the nights specialty and everyone enjoys the down time of the BBQ. Once the BBQ is over, the teams get another gem of info, they’ll be sleeping on the beach for the night. Hehe, nice!

Home Contestant Feature:

Adrian from North Dakota has already dropped 4 sizes and is looking and doing really well. Good work Adrian, Keep it up!

Morning on the beach starts off with a nice relaxing Yoga lesson, which is taken better by some of the Biggest Loser contestants than others. The members of the blue team have no problem getting into the exercises and seem to enjoy it, where as the members of the red team can barely keep from goofing around, laughing and joking long enough to get a few stances in. This was a big mistake on their part.

Kim gets super pissed as a result of the red team not taking the Yoga seriously and works them like crazy, yelling at all of the contestants and not letting up one bit. Kim rides them so hard that a few of them mention how jealous they are of Bob, the blue team and the relationship they have. I’m guessing the next time they do Yoga they’ll take it a bit more serious, lol.

Challenge:

  • Each team must create a sand pile both large enough and strong enough for a single Biggest Loser contestant to be able to stand on the top and jump/reach for their teams flag, suspended 14ft in the air. That’s harsh, all they have to use to collect sand is sheets.
  • Reward: The reward for this challenge is a big one. Each member of the winning team will get a special care package from their friends and family back home. Man did I ever want Ken to get this one, what with his kid being in the CCU and all.
  • Bonus Reward: The winning team gets to select which memeber of the Blue team will sit out the weigh in. This could be a HUGE advantage for either team to have.

Home Contestant Feature:

Ken from North Carolina shows off his goal shirt and how he looks in it when it doesn’t fit. Then bam! It fits like a glove. He’s looking really good too. Good work home contestants, you’re really rockin’ it so far!

20 Mins into the challenge everything is pretty even, both teams have a LONG way to go before they get close to the flags.

The red team is the first to figure out that draping their sheet/bag thingy over top of their sand pile helps prevent it from crumbling when someone stands on top of it. Clever monkeys.

Both teams are using similar tactics, sitting in a circle around their dirt pile, using their backs to support the pile as a single Biggest Loser contestant climbs the pile, balances on top and reaches for the flag.

Ken from the red team is convinced he can jump up and get the flag, but he misses and ends up falling straight down on top of Wylie. It looks like Ken may have jarred Wylies neck a bit, Wylie even broken down in tears because of the shock/pain, but he shook it out and got back into action. Good work man! A 300lbs+ guy falling on your head would have to hurt.

The blue team is so close to getting the flag and the red team is right behind them!

Ken climbs to the top of the pile, balances himself, hops up and grabs the flag, winning the challenge for the red team mere second before the blue team! Man that was a close one, yay Red! Ken gets to see what his family sent!

Home Contestant Feature:

John Turner from Arizona is at 276lbs. He goes to the Dr’s, like he did at the beginning for the show, and the Dr informs him that he’s now considered a diet controlled diabetic and isn’t at a high risk anymore. Great work man! That is a huge improvement!

Both the blue and red teams return from the beach and are dragged straight into the gym by Bob and Kim. The blue team is down from losing but work their asses off in the gym and feel like they’ve got the weigh-in, in the bag.

Everyone ends up showing off their goal items, of which there are a lot of skinny jeans and t-shirt, but the most touching one to me was Brian and his wedding ring. He’s to big to fit his wedding ring on his finger anymore and one of his goals is to be able to wear his ring again. How sweet is that?

The last chance workout is an ass kicker and everyone is pouring sweat by the time they finish. This is going to be a tough weigh-in, both teams have worked their butts off something fierce in this episode. Speaking of which:

Weigh In:

  • The Red team choose to have Erik of the Blue team sit out of this weigh in. Good choice, he’s due for a big drop.

Blue Team Results:

  • 375lbs – Erik (down 16lbs)
  • 329lbs – Marty (down 16lbs)
  • 236lbs – Amy (down 8lbs)
  • 221lbs -Melinda (down 4lbs)
  • 236lbs – Tiffany (down 7lbs)
  • 277lbs – Brian (down 8lbs)
  • 291lbs – Bobby (down 12lbs)
  • Total Weight Loss: 55lbs (3.34%)

Red Team Results:

  • 231lbs – Pam (down 6lbs)
  • 206lbs – Heather (down 8lbs)
  • 385lbs – Nelson (down 15lbs)
  • 238lbs – Kai (down 12lbs)
  • 275lbs – Wylie (down 18lbs)
  • 320lbs – Ken (down 20lbs)
  • Total Weight Loss: 79lbs (4.60%)

The Red Team wins the Biggest Loser weigh in and Marty of the blue team is awarded immunity for being the Biggest Loser on the team.

Once back at the ranch the red team acts all glum and thoroughly convinces Kim that they lost. She nearly freaks when they tell her they were just BSing her and the totally won. This is starting to get old, but it’s still kinda funny, lol.

Bob joins his team at the ranch and puts a positive spin on their loss, raising everyones spirits by going from person to person and seeing how much weight they have lost in such a short period of time. Some of these people have really lost a lot very quickly, I wish I could do that. 🙂

Elimination Ceremony:

  1. Melinda votes for Tiffany
  2. Tiffany votes for Melinda
  3. Bobby votes for Tiffany
  4. Brain votes for Tiffany
  5. Amy votes for Tiffany

The remaining votes don’t matter and Tiffany is eliminated from the Biggest Loser 3.

Post Show Recap:

  • Since returning home from the ranch Tiffany’s weight has fluctuated a fair bit, but she’s been working really hard, even after hitting a plateu and has lost a total of 33lbs. Her goal is to lose an additional 50lbs. Good luck Tiff! Look forward to seeing how you look at the end of the season.
