The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 8

Vicki was unable to control her hunger in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 7, so a decision had to be made to get rid of her.

Stefan gets a visit from fellow vampire Lexi, his oldest friend. About 350 years old. So what are they doing for his 162nd birthday?

The sheriff is asking questions about Vicki’s disappearance. Everybody has their stories/lies straight. When they’re done, Elena has decided that being around Stefan is just too much. Again.

Bonnie’s grandma doesn’t want her giving that necklace back to anybody. That talisman will continue to protect her.

Jeremy’s doing homework. That’s different.

Damon arrives at the police station with the requested vervain. Sheriff Forbes tells him she suspects that maybe vampires can now walk around in sunlight, so they’re looking at anyone new to town.

Bonnie has a plan to get Elena’s mind off how she dumped Stefan. She rips open a pillow and throws feathers all over the place. Then she makes them float. Oh, that probably will not put her mind at ease. Now she’s gotta deal with a witch as well as vampires.

Caroline’s done with Damon. Well, not really. At his will, she agrees to throw a party so that Stefan and his BFF will come. He intends to solve this town’s little vampire problem. Also, he’d like his crystal back from that witch.

Stefan is suspicious, but Lexi doesn’t care. They’re going to that party.

Elena goes to visit Stefan, where she’s greeted by the blonde girl in a towel staying there. Lexi’s reaction: oh my God. How? Who? Don’t worry. It’s not Katherine. Looks a lot like her, though. Whatever the case, Stefan’s in love with her.

Despite feeling like a Native American giver, Caroline asks for her crystal back. Bonnie can’t give it back. Well, then, it makes her look fat. That’s not going to work. Caroline attempts to snatch it from her neck, but that doesn’t work for her any better than it worked for Damon. So Damon calls her stupid, shallow, and useless.

Then he wanders outside looking for some people in heat. He drinks the guy while the girl screams in terror.

Elena wants to know what Damon did to her brother. Why’s he acting different? He’s studying, not doing drugs, and not drinking. And this is a problem?

Lexi (aka towel girl… she’s been called worse) has a lesson for Elena. The love of her life was human, but love conquered all.

The cops arrive on the scene to find a corpse and a scared girl.

Matt agrees to take the now very drunk Caroline home. Her mom’s kinda standing right outside.

What’s Damon really doing in Mystic Falls? He has a diabolical master plan. How very cryptic of him.

The sheriff heads inside with the girl from the alley. She recognizes someone. Not Damon. Lexi’s drugged with vervain and hauled off. Might want to try a larger dose next time. She shakes it off, throws the cops around, and shrugs off some bullets. Then Damon stakes her.

Matt had planned to leave Caroline in bed to recover from her binge, but she doesn’t want to be left alone. She don’t have to ask him twice.

Stefan wants to kill Damon, although Elena begs him not to. Now she wants to talk to him, but he’s not interested. He won’t really kill him, though. Just scare him a bit.

In hear dream, Bonnie is warned that it’s coming. Whatever it is.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 7

Vicki joined the vampire crew in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 6.

Everybody thinks Vicki’s drugged. For once, she’s not on anything, but she could use a fix. She pays a visit to Ty, who’s lucky Stefan is around to save him. Damon’s there to mind control him into forgetting, then he has fun tossing him across the parking lot.

Nothing about that dead Logan guy in the paper. Somebody’s covered it up.

Stefan has a solution for Vicki’s hunger. What is it? Skunk? Saint Bernard? Bambi? Complete with the animal blood comes a lecture about how it’s wrong to feed on people. If she messes up by trying to feed and ends up killing somebody, she’ll have to live with that for the rest of her life, which would be eternity.

Bonnie’s grandma is a witch, which everybody knows, but it’s too absurd for them to actually believe.

Elena doesn’t want to take the risk that Jeremy will get hurt. If she’s going to enforce that, she will have to be willing to take the risk that her head will be ripped off.

Stefan’s planning to keep an eye on Vicki. He’ll need to keep an eye on his brother, too, then. Damon’s lesson is the perks of being a vampire, such as super fast speed, which can easily get her away from the watchful eye of the brothers. Oops.

Vicki returns home, where her brother isn’t going to make this an easier. Stefan drops by, but he’s not exactly invited in.

Jeremy wants to see Vicki, whether it means getting bit up or not. He gets a text from her and will go see her, regardless of his sister’s warnings. They’re headed to school. It’s Halloween. Perfect place for an addict vampire to hang out.

Damon’s also at school, where he meets up with someone who’s looking to secure some vervain from the now dead Zach. He also gets some information that anyone who showed up during the day was eliminated as a vampire suspect. So he should be good then. In his travels, he also meets up with Bonnie, who burns his hand when he tries to take the necklace she’s wearing.

With the aid of distraction from Matt, Vicki is able to hook up with Jeremy at the party. If he comes with her, they can be together forever. Or longer. Unable to control herself from getting all bumpy faced and biting him, perhaps now Vicki has lost the trust of Jeremy. Not before Elena ends up bloody and bitten, though. Stake through the heart should fix her. Unconcerned about what he’s just witnessed, Jeremy’s mostly just sad to see her go.

Damon did this. It’s all his fault. Elena confuses him for someone with remorse.

Elena’s plan is to make Jeremy forget. Stefan doesn’t have the ability to do it, so Damon volunteers. The new story is that Vicki left town, but it’s for the best. She, too, would like to forget, but she doesn’t want to lose how she feels about Stefan.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 6

Damon managed to escape from his cell in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 5, and Elena discovered that something’s not quite right about Stefan.

We pick up where we left off. Elena’s question to Stefan: what are you? He doesn’t really answer because she already knows. Is she ready for everything she knows to change? Okay, then. He’s a vampire. This response is enough to get her to run away. When he corners her, he tells her he’s innocent and that Damon’s the killer, but begs her not to tell anybody because knowing is dangerous.

Back to Damon chowing down on Vicki. He has a problem. Where’s his ring? He’ll be doing just fine until the sun comes up.

Sunlight aside, Stefan dismisses all the legends about vampires as merely myths. There are no other vampires in town, not any more. Once upon a time, the town was aware of vampires, and it didn’t end well for them. Elena can’t promise that she won’t tell anybody, so Stefan asks her to spend the day with him.

The sheriff and her guys show up at the scene of the cemetery in Damon’s aftermath of burnt corpses. The story that the news will run: drug deal gone bad. Vicki is not amongst the dead because Damon dragged her back home, where he has decided to let her drink from him and turn her into his new girl toy.

Stefan and Elena go to the middle of nowhere, or a place he says used to be his home, back in 1864 when he first turned 17 (and when he first met Katherine).

Going back to the past, we find out why Stefan turned into a vampire shortly after he met Katherine. That reason being that she herself was a vampire. Being a vampire, she was able to control both Stefan’s and Damon’s minds, forcing each of them to keep their relationship with her a secret. Forever. Or at least until her untimely burning at the hands of an angry mob.

The reason they’ve headed to Stefan’s childhood home is because that’s where the ring is. Either he gives Damon back his ring, or Elena’s in danger.

Damon’s not looking for love. It’s painful, pointless, and overrated, even if he’s still not over Katherine 145 years later. After listening to Vicki whine for a while, he’s decided she is so damaged and does not have one hint of self esteem. He thinks he knows what can help her. Death. Then he snaps her neck. Well, that was interesting. After she dies, Vicki wakes up and is told that now she has to feed to complete the process. Perhaps she should stop by Jeremy’s house. She’s got two choices: feed on human blood or die. Damon shows up to look for Stefan. He may come in, seeing as he’s been invited and all. For future reference, Elena may consider being careful who she invites in the house.

Vicki’s starting to remember and runs away, but Stefan can track her (for that matter, so can Logan with the watch he grabbed from Jeremy). He informs her that she’s got a choice to make. Then he gets shot by Logan with a wooden bullet, which won’t kill him but will stun him. Neither Vicki nor Damon want to see him get a stake shoved through him, though, so Damon comes to his rescue. As Damon’s grabbing his ring back from Stefan, Vicki has found a target to feed on, Logan. Then Damon grabs the watch as Vicki flees.

After learning that Vicki has become a vampire, Elena tells Stefan she’ll keep his secret, but she can’t be with him.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 5

The brothers went to the annual founders’ party, where Damon got drugged by Stefan in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 4. Although they have their identities mostly concealed, there are some in the town who are on to them and know that the vampires must be back.

Stefan knows exactly what will happen to his brother if he doesn’t feed on blood. He’ll become a living corpse. That’s just fine with Stefan. In 50 years, they can reevaluate.

Elena catches Vicki coming out of the bathroom. Aunt Jenna is unconcerned. Jeremy could be doing worse things. He normally is.

Caroline’s trying to recall what happened, but there are holes in her memory lately.

Stefan shows up at school. He tells Elena he was dealing with Damon. For 4 days.

Although Elena’s started to turn on Stefan, which I get the sense is going to be a recurring theme for quite some time, Matt’s come around and is reluctantly supporting him. Showing up an hour late because he’s dealing with Zach almost getting killed by Damon is not making a case for Stefan, nor is his continued vagueness. Their discussion is stopped by a guy who knows him and is amazed he hasn’t aged a day.

The sheriff is having no luck tracking down the vampires. They’re assuming that they’re looking for somebody who only comes out at night. That would be a bad assumption.

Stefan agrees to share some with Elena, starting with the history of Katherine.

Jeremy feels like he and Vicki are always getting high. Pretty much because they are. She’s enjoying it, so his protests fall on deaf ears.

When she slices her finger while cooking, Elena believes her paranoia has turned into hallucinations. What’s wrong with his face? Whatever it is, she’ll have to wait to find out, probably until the end of the season.

Damon’s only hope is that he will be able to control Caroline, presumably using the necklace he was going to give her, which she has since found and decided to wear. That crow will be following her around for a while.

At the car wash, Bonnie gets upset and proceeds to make a hose go out of control.

Jenna’s surprised to be having a good time with Logan, the guy who’s a news reporter by day and a vampire hunter by night.

Elena asks the guy from last night where he saw Stefan before. She wouldn’t know. It was years ago. When was this anyway? Early June. 1953.

Since they can’t hang out in his room all the time, Vicki takes Jeremy to her other favorite party place. The cemetery.

Elena wants a favor from Logan. She needs access to old news stories from the 1950s. It’s for a way past due report.

Caroline shows up at Damon’s cell. He’d like her to let him out, but she remembers that he bit her. Regardless, she’s gonna open the door. Zach shows up just in time get his neck snapped and have the door busted open. It’s good for Caroline that Damon does not have his ring because it means he cannot chase her out into the sun.

Bonnie’s powers are starting to get a little bit more impressive. When she gets upset, she starts a fire, one which lights a car in a blaze. Stefan saw, and he’s not having much difficulty believing it, but nobody else knows.

Elena shows up at the news station to look for an incident from 1953 at the old Salvatore boarding house. Logan’s happy to help, as long as he gets a good word in with Jenna. Matt warns Stefan that she won’t stop until she figures it out because she’s big on trust. Her search reveals a news clip with Stefan lurking in the background. If it’s not him, it probably should be.

Jeremy and Vicki’s visit to the cemetery turns out surprisingly less joyful than they had anticipated. He should go home instead of making her feel like crap by not letting her take prescription pills from his house.

When he gets his chance alone in Jeremy’s room, Logan does some searching and locates the watch.

Vicki’s wasting her life in the cemetery when she runs into a guy who doesn’t look good. He’ll be just fine when he bites her. She might want to look into getting used to that cemetery.

Elena has just one question for Stefan. What are you?

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 4

Stefan wanted to prove that Damon had some humanity left in him in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 3, but when his brother killed the coach for no good reason, that plan didn’t seem to have worked, no matter how much he still loves Katherine.

Elena wakes up and sees a news report of her death, then she sees Damon and panics. It’s a dream alright, Stefan’s dream.

Damon’s covered his tracks. They caught the animal who has been doing all that attacking. It was a mountain lion. A big one.

Elena invites Stefan to the founders’ party. Through his mind control, Damon also gets an invite from Caroline. He tells her she’s got to get rid of that dress she’s wearing, and when she takes it off, she’s covered in bruises. She’s in no danger of being turned into a vampire, though, at least not at this point. So is he going to kill her? No. Not yet.

Zach has a plan to get rid of Damon, a plan he’s growing in his basement. If he ingests that herb, it will weaken him. That’s their only hope since Stefan refuses to drink human blood.

Bonnie got Caroline to spill about Katherine, which Bonnie in turn is revealing to Elena. According to Damon, Katherine chose him, which caused Stefan to go mad and do horrible things.

Stefan’s plan of spiking a drink with vervain fails to catch his brother off guard. Now Damon has to go to the party angry. This won’t end well. Stefan is pleased with how things went, though, because Damon won’t expect him to try again so soon.

At the party, Elena is looking at a guest list from the original party long ago. Interestingly, there’s someone named Damon Salvatore on the list. Oh, yeah, Stefan Salvatore, too.

At Damon’s insistence, Caroline asks Stefan to dance, leaving Damon free to chat with Elena. He tells the story of how Katherine died, at the battle of Willow Creek. Whatever he may be planning, he’s not going to get anywhere with Elena tonight.

Ty’s invited Vicki to the party, where he hides out all night so that he doesn’t have to introduce the girl from the wrong side of the tracks to his parents.

Bonnie’s able to light a candle with her mind. As offensive powers go, that’s not one.

Logan, the guy from the TV news, is looking to patch things up with aunt Jenna. Since she hates his guts, that may take some work.

Elena wants Stefan to open up, but he doesn’t want to. So now they’re mad at each other again. Damon may not be making any progress, but he’s making a good effort at driving a wedge between them.

Damon grabs a crystal, one he put there a long time ago. Since it’s his, it’s not stealing, even if he is taking it from somebody else’s house.

Jenna reluctantly agrees to go to lunch with Logan. He says he’s growed up now and ready for a second chance.

After watching Ty’s mom yell at the help about unlit candles, Bonnie tries to light one, inadvertently lighting all of them instead. Now that’s a little more impressive.

While they’re in the bathroom, Elena finds out why Caroline’s always wearing scarves. She suspects Damon, so she threatens to turn him into Caroline’s mom, the sheriff. Then she goes to Stefan, who says he’s handling it. She’s just gonna have to trust him.

Jeremy’s on again off again relationship with Vicki appears to be on again, as she goes to see him after walking out of the party.

After she gets busted, Damon decides he’s so over Caroline. Upon drinking her, he realizes he’s made a mistake. She’s been spiked with vervain. Stefan’s captured himself a deadly beast, and all is well in Mystic Falls.

The rest of the town may be in the dark, but the cops know they’re dealing with vampires, which means they need to get the Gilbert watch, the one Elena’ given to Jeremy because he pouted about her giving it away (since it was supposed to go to the first born son).

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 3

After playing games about whether or not they were interested in each other, Stefan and Elena finally ended up kissing at the end of The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 2.

Following her encounter with Damon, Caroline wakes up with blood on her neck. She tries to sneak out without waking him, but he’s right in front of her before she notices him move. Then she tries to hit him with a lamp, which obviously isn’t going to do anything.

Bonnie now wants Elena to take it slow, after having been the one to tell her to go for it in the first place.

Tyler believes he can hit Stefan upside the head with a football while he and Elena are talking. He believes wrong. Stefan hears that thing coming, turns around, and catches it, then throws it back. Having seen this throw, Elena now wants to talk him into joining the football team. Yeah, he doesn’t really seem like a team kinda guy. Oh, and Matt and Tyler hate him.

When he’s done showing off his football skills, they go to history class, where Stefan again proves to Mr. Tanner that he knows more than him.

After class, Stefan decides to try out for the team. Tanner, also the football coach, just wants to see him get hit, so he’ll give him a chance. Matt and Ty will be happy to oblige.

Caroline shows up at practice and looks just fine, aside from the scarf she’s now wearing.

Stefan proves to be a formidable wide receiver. Even Matt’s impressed. Tyler, however, wants to see if he can injure the new guy. Well, he can try.

Bonnie’s obsessed with numbers today: 8, 14, and 22. Pointless discussion or some sort of clue?

While they’re eating dinner, Damon and Caroline show up. He’s gonna need an invite from someone who lives in the house. As much as Stefan may try to prevent this invite, he’s free to come in anyway.

Katherine died in a fire. It wasn’t exactly what you would call yesterday, though. The fact that she dated both brothers is not lost on Elena.

Stefan likes Caroline’s really nice scarf. Can he see it? No, she can’t take it off. She really can’t.

That night, Elena has a dream that she’s rounding second base with Stefan. When she takes off his shirt, he turns into Damon. As she wakes up, she fails to notice the crow in her window.

Following Damon’s advice, Elena has decided to quit cheerleading. It’s just not important to her any more. She shows up at the game with everybody else anyway. While there, she gets a necklace from Stefan. So what’s this necklace’s purpose?

Bored with the festitivies and angry that Stefan’s already a starter, Tyler decides to pick a fight with Jeremy. After some punches are thrown, Tyler learns that if he wants to fight, he’ll have to fight Stefan. He punches him. No impact. Then Jeremy gets up with his broken bottle and slashes Stefan’s hand. Obviously, this wound heals right away. He pretends that it wasn’t his blood, but Elena knows what she saw.

After that, Elena needs to find out what’s going on. If only she knew a psychic witch. When she touched Stefan, Bonnie got a feeling, a feeling of what she imagines death to be like.

When Damon meets up with Elena, he’ll bet she thinks about him and has even dreamed about him. Right now, she wants to kiss him. That mind control doesn’t work. Guess that explains the necklace.

Although Tyler still hates Stefan’s guts, Matt is coming around.

Stefan has managed to figure out the small bit of humanity still left in his brother. Damon loves Katherine and always has. Not that that humanity will prevent him from killing the coach for no reason.

Bonnie finally figures out what those numbers mean. Building 8, a car with 14 on the license plate, and the number 22 next to the trail of blood. Creepy, but not the most useful vision.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 2

The Vampire Diaries premiered last week as the largest launch ever by The CW, hopefully proving to the network that they don’t need pink shows (or Fox remakes from the 90s) to be successful. It also gave me a reason to watch The CW again, which I’d thought I lost when they cancelled Reaper. Episode 1 introduced us to the main likely to be on again off again love interests Stefan and Elena. At the end of the episode, we also met Stefan’s less than good brother Damon, who attacked (but failed to kill) Vicki.

A couple are out in the woods camping. She’s worried about it raining and him staying dry. It’s raining alright. Blood.

Things are changing for Stefan and Elena. They’re happy to wake up and greet the day so they can see each other. Awww.

Bonnie’s found out that she’s technically a witch. I knew it, and I await the British librarian.

Matt reveals that a vampire attacked Vicki, although he thinks that she was just drunk. Wait for it, dude. You’ll be a believer soon enough.

It’s the third day of school, and Jeremy’s already skipped six classes. That story about his parents having died four months ago isn’t going to cut it any more. The fact that he’s on drugs isn’t exactly a secret to the faculty of the school either.

Matt goes to visit Vicki in the hospital. What he didn’t anticipate is that Stefan overheard the whole vampire story and now wants to keep things quiet, so he uses mind control on both of them. Matt knows somebody was in that room. He just doesn’t know who.

Elena and Stefan just talked last night. Caroline just wants him to jump his bones already.

When Vicki wakes up, she doesn’t remember any screaming fit that she had because it never happened except in Matt’s mind. What she does remember is that she was attacked by an animal, a thought planted in her mind by Stefan.

Taking Caroline’s advice and going after the boy, Elena heads to Stefan’s house. That’s where she meets up with Damon. He warns her about “the last one,” Katherine. Stefan interrupts to thank her for stopping by and to tell her good riddance.

That whole animal attack story may not last very long, as Vicki’s now starting to have nightmares about the vampire who tried to kill her.

Elena’s realizing that Stefan is a complicated guy who likes to apologize a lot. Maybe she won’t be shacking up with him after all.

When she returns to the bar, Vicki knows that she knows Damon. She doesn’t know how, but she does know him. She’ll probably be more clear about how she knows him when he takes her up to the roof. He doesn’t need her to be dead, but his brother might. That animal attack story is now completely gone. The vampire one is back, but not the right one. Stefan is getting the blame for the attack. Damon’s plan is to see if he can get his brother to kill again, but it’s not working. With that in mind, Damon makes her forget everything that just happened. She just assumes that her being a druggie is what caused her current confused state.

Upon handing Elena’s cell phone number and e-mail address to Stefan, Bonnie wigs out, asks what happened to him, and walks away.

Aunt Jenna has decided she’s now an authority figure, so she’s ready to bust Jeremy for being a dealer, although she’s still worried that he’s going to get worse.

Rather than closing out the night by writing in her diary, Elena has decided that she’d better just go say all that stuff to Stefan. The talking doesn’t last very long.

As for Damon, he’s found his next victim.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of The Vampire Diaries Episode 3 Friday Nights, which airs Thursday at 8/7c on The CW.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 1

I tend to shy away from new shows, mostly because they often get cancelled so quickly. But I’ve gotta at least give a vampire show from Dawson’s Creek creator Kevin Williamson and the network that brought us Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel a shot. Since it is from The CW, I’m certainly hoping it at least sucks less than Moonlight did (admittedly, I only watched one episode of that, mostly because I could only get through one). Besides, since it is The CW, this show would have to average about three viewers to not at least get a full season.

This is the story of a vampire named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), who’s been invisible for a century, until now.

A couple are driving along through so much fog they look like they’re in London, when they run over a pedestrian. Don’t worry. He’s alive, in a manner of speaking. It was pretty well just a set up. Fresh blood to drink.

So why’d he return here anyway? He has to know her, her being Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrey). When she’s in the car with her friend Bonnie (Katerina Graham), she’s informed that Bonnie is a psychic now, or at least that’s what her grandma says. Well, that could come in handy. Her prediction for Elena: everything will be great.

Stefan’s plan is to enroll in Elena’s school, which totally works for a 27 year old. In addition to his ability to leap off tall buildings, he’s also got a mind control power that allows him to get access without a complete file.

Elena’s little brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen, grandson of Steve McQueen) is hanging out with the crackheads and stoned on his first day. After yelling at Jeremy, Elena bumps into Stefan for the first time as she’s leaving the men’s room, something which she can’t quite explain.

After school, Elena heads to the cemetery to write in her diary and visit her parents Grayson and Miranda. She must have said she’s fine 37 times today but didn’t mean it once. People don’t really want an answer to the question “How are you?” While there, she’s greeted by a creepy bird and excessive amounts of fog. Vampire guy to the rescue. They’re having a friendly chat, and he pretty much better bail since she’s bleeding.

Jeremy’s got himself a crush on Vicki Donovan (Kayla Ewell), who apparently just considers him her dealer, with benefits.

That night, Stefan shows up at Elena’s house to apologize for his disappearing act and return her diary. She tells him he doesn’t have to stand out there. He’s gonna need a little more of an invitation than that. They head to the local hangout, where her ex-boyfriend Matt finds it pretty apparent she must be have moved on pretty quickly.

When he returns home, Stefan’s accused of being responsible for the killing of the couple in the paper. He’ll be sticking around, though. If he doesn’t belong there, where does he belong? Then he pulls out a picture from 1864 of a girl, Katherine, who looks remarkably like Elena.

In history class, the teacher’s managed to stump everybody about a battle that’s one of the town’s most significant events. Everybody except the guy who lived it. There were 346 casualties, not including the 27 civilians, which is news to the teacher Mr. Tanner.

When Bonnie touches Elena, she sees a crow and fog. Maybe she is psychic.

Having just narrowly escaped being attacked by Tyler and then telling Jeremy to get lost because she doesn’t want to be used, Vicki heads into the woods. Alone. This won’t end well. As Jeremy’s stumbling about and running away from a lecture from his sister, he trips over a body with a bite mark in her neck, but she’s not dead.

If Stefan’s not doing the attacking, who is? That would be his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder, who looks a lot different than when he played Boone on Lost). So he’s the one with the creepy crow. They haven’t seen each other in 15 years, so why’s he there? Not answering the question, he knows what Stefan’s doing there: one word, Elena.

Bonnie doesn’t think she’s really psychic, but whatever she saw, she has a feeling it’s just the beginning.

What the arrival of Stefan’s brother does provide is an explanation of what that unusual ring he wears is. It protects him from turning into a big pile of dust in the sun.

Vicki’s in the hospital with Matt watching over her. When she wakes up, she just has one thing to say. Vampire.

Through their ordeals of the past days, Stefan and Elena have both realized that the bad things follow them, and it’s not just as simple as forgetting the past. They’re just waiting for something good to fight the bad.

As the episode concludes, Stefan gets an invite into Elena’s house. That’ll be good until he turns all evil and stuff.
