So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 13

The judges eliminated two more people in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 12: Bianca and Phillip.

With the World Series over, this week America gets its first chance to weigh in and vote.

Karen Hauer & Kevin Hunt
Style: Hustle
Choreographer: Maria Torres
Song: Come to Me by France Joli
Adam: Made it work for you. Saw Kevin for the first time. Karen performed with such beautiful restraint.
Mary: Karen was amazing, like a hustle queen. Surprised with how much attitude and performance Kevin gave to this. Still on the train.
Nigel: Absolutely delighted watching Kevin grow. Lovely routine that suits Karen, who adds something each week to the choreography.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-01

Ashleigh di Lello & Jakob Karr
Style: Jazz with a cane
Choreographer: Mandy Moore
Song: Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Adam: Ashleigh is so so good up there. Really starting to experience things together. Jakob has enormous strength and control with his flexibility.
Mary: Perfect partnership. Ashleigh’s stepping up to the plate every week. Jakob is strong and passionate.
Nigel: Worked as a unit. Ashleigh gets better every week. Representing ballroom dancers brilliantly. Jakob is an absolutely stunning dancer.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-02

Pauline Mata & Peter Sabasino
Style: Quickstep (aka the kiss of death)
Choreographers: JT & Tomas
Song: Hey Baby! (Shake Those Hula Hips) by Big Kahuna & The Copa Cat Pack
Adam: Story and character may have blown past some of the technical difficulties.
Mary: Not a train wreck. Wasn’t great, although the performance was amazing.
Nigel: Not technically perfect, but didn’t care. Fabulous performance.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-03

Kathryn McCormack & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Andy Blankenbuehler
Song: I Wanna Be Like You by Swingin’ Fireballs
Adam: Not sure what Kathryn’s character was. Too adorable. Huge step in Legacy’s growth.
Mary: Missing a little bit of chemistry. Legacy’s growing so much that Kathryn’s getting a little lost.
Nigel: A little disappointed with Kathryn. Slightly juvenile. Legacy has turned from a street dancer into a complete dancer.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-04

Channing Cooke & Victor Smalley
Style: Contemporary – toxic relationship
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey
Song: Be Be Your Love (Live at KCRW) by Rachael Yamagata
Adam: New partnership is going to reinvigorate you back into the competition. Danced beautifully, quality of movement, sensitivity.
Mary: Great new partnership. Phenomenal quality of movement.
Nigel: Not emotionally carried away, but thought it was danced very well.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-05

Ellenore Scott & Ryan di Lello
Style: Hip hop
Choreographer: Lil C
Song: Lost Boiz Anthem by Tha J-Squad
Adam: Ryan’s the most transformed dancer of the night. Did well considering, albeit not great.
Mary: Good but not great. Got a little sluggish.
Nigel: Not good at all. Didn’t come up to it, and personalities don’t suit the style.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-06

Mollee Gray & Nathan Trasoras
Style: Salsa
Choreographer: Gustavo Vargas
Song: Quimbara by Celia Cruz & Johnny Pacheco
Adam: Get ready to boo me. Bad luck of the draw. Exposed all of your weaknesses.
Mary: Not your brightest moment. A lot of things missed. Nathan was not suave enough. Mollee looked uncomfortable.
Nigel: Didn’t go right from the start. Missing chemistry.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-07

Noelle Marsh & Russell Ferguson
Style: Afro jazz – frog with an African princess
Choreographer: Sean Cheesman
Song: Frog Dance by Mickey Hart & Planet Drum
Adam: Totally committed to the characters. Filled with spirit.
Mary: Crazy. Crazy good. Noelle was so dynamic and powerful. So much more out of Russell than expected. Russell’s the king of afro jazz.
Nigel: Russell’s a star. Noelle did a really good job.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-08

Nigel thinks Ryan and Ellenore are in danger. Mary thinks Nathan and Mollee are in danger. Adam agrees with both of them.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 12

The first two contestants were sent packing in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 11. Ariana DeBose was the first girl to go home. Then, Brandon Dumlao, who wasn’t ready for the show and shouldn’t have been given only a day and a half to prepare, was also eliminated.

Paula Abdul still isn’t sitting next to Nigel. Noelle, however, is ready this week.

Noelle Marsh & Russell Ferguson
Style: Hip hop with tennis rackets
Choreographer: Jamal Sims
Song: Move Shake Drop Remix by DJ Laz, Flo Rida, & Casely
Adam: Ramble ramble. Felt like it was overwhelming you a little bit.
Mary: Russell won the match. Couldn’t tell Noelle just recovered from an injury.
Nigel: So fast that they didn’t really get hold of it. Not sure that’s gonna be strong enough for a first performance for Noelle. Better than last week from Russell.

Jakob Karr & Ashleigh di Lello
Style: Viennese Waltz – just married couple
Choreographer: Melanie Lapatin & Tony Meredith
Song: At Last by Etta James
Adam: Can still do no wrong. Madly in love.
Mary: Lift sequence was very good, but Jakob’s dancing could be better. Ashleigh is lovely and gorgeous. Closer and closer to the top 10.
Nigel: Jakob is such a beautiful dancer. Ashleigh is proving people wrong.

Bianca Revels & Victor Smalley
Style: Broadway – dancing in church
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Maybe God Is Tryin’ to Tell You Something from The Color Purple Soundtrack
Adam: Danced well, but that’s not really the point. Wanted to see them lose it.
Mary: Good but didn’t really go there.
Nigel: Characters weren’t strong enough. Victor looked like a fish out of water. Didn’t sit comfortably with Bianca either.

Mollee Gray & Nathan Trasoras
Style: Bollywood – warrior prince going to war, but his princess is not happy about it
Choreographer: Nakul Dev Mahajan
Song: Azeem O Shaan Shahenshah from the Jodhaa Akbar Soundtrack
Adam: Such an exciting couple. Mollee is coming into her own. Such maturity.
Mary: Adored the beginning, and it just kept getting better. Outstanding partnership.
Nigel: Mollee’s maturing. Tremendous stuff from Nathan.

Channing Cooke & Phillip Attmore
Style: Samba
Choreographer: Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin
Song: Maracatu Funk by The Samba Squad
Adam: Could see you struggling. Wonderful personal interactions.
Mary: Felt like hard work. Phillip wasn’t really helping Channing trying to get to the tricks. Channing was coming to life out there.
Nigel: Phillip has all the right movement but didn’t utilize it. Chemistry didn’t work. Looked like Channing was nervous in the lifts.

Karen Hauer & Kevin Hunt
Style: Hip hop – mechanic looking under hot girl’s hood, whatever that means
Choreographer: Tabitha & Napoleon Dumo
Song: Ice Cream Paint Job by Dorrough
Adam: Karen had more confidence than Kevin in his style, and tore that up. Kevin was fantastic, which was expected.
Mary: Karen’s on the hot tamale train in first class. Kevin’s supposed to be great in this style and is phenomenal. Also on the hot tamale train.
Nigel: Kevin was really good. But Karen’s a real pleasure to watch.

Kathryn McCormack & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Contemporary – woman living in fear
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey
Song: 2 Steps Away by Patti LaBelle
Adam: Legacy’s a different man than ever before. So proud of both. So special.
Mary: Legacy is really dancing out there. Kathryn just keeps nailing it.
Nigel: Legacy is growing, and Kathryn is proving people wrong with that great routine.

Pauline Mata & Peter Sabasino
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Wade Robson
Song: Little Green Bag by George Baker Selection
Adam: Committed.
Mary: Danced well but won’t take you anywhere.
Nigel: Routine that won’t be forgotten, whether it’s appreciated or not. Peter’s a bit tight in his shoulders. First time Pauline’s danced to the full extent.

Ellenore Scott & Ryan di Lello
Style: Argentine Tango
Choreographer: Miriam Larici & Leonardo Barrionuevo
Song: Violentango by Astor Piazzola
Adam: Hard to dance in a dress caught in your heel. Stillness and maturity from Ellenore. Great partnering from Ryan.
Mary: Remarkable that Ellenore didn’t even fuss with her dress. Phenomenal living that routine through Miriam. Ryan played the part, too. Outstanding technique. Have to stand up one more time.
Nigel: Don’t know another couple on the show this season that could have done any better.

The four dancers in danger come from three couples. Noelle is first. Phillip is also in the bottom four, as are Victor and Bianca.

Starting with the girls, the judges don’t think either girl came up to the best they can do in the duets, and they are not unanimous. Bianca has grown across the seasons. Noelle danced for her life, as asked, so she will be staying. Bianca Revels has been eliminated.

Next up are the guys. Phillip has been eliminated. In what had been billed as the season of tappers, two of the three have been cut tonight.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 13, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 11

The top 20 were revealed in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 9. Since that time, Billy Bell has left the show due to illness, and Brandon Dumlao has taken his spot. Tonight they will all dance before the judges eliminate two of them.

Nigel’s apparently begging for Paula Abdul to come on the show to do some guest rambling judging. The empty chair with her name on it will suffice.

In addition to Billy Bell’s aforementioned problems, Noelle has done something to her leg and will not be dancing tonight. Free pass to next week, but she will need to be better by next week to remain.

Channing Cooke & Phillip Attmore
Style: Jive
Choreographer: Jason Gilkison
Song: Rockin’ Robin by The Jackson 5
Adam: Phillip did well, which was expected, but Channing’s strong performance surprised him.
Mary: Good but still want more. Legs got a little bit lazy. Phillip got a little lazier as it went on.
Nigel: Phillip was good as expected considering his tap background. Channing needs a little work. Thought Phillip wasn’t so much lazy as out of energy. Lack of chemistry.

Ashleigh di Lello & Jakob Karr
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Hit Me with a Hot Note (And Watch Me Bounce) from the Sophisticated Ladies Original Soundtrack
Adam: Incredibly smart choreography. Jakob’s spreading the gospel of dance. New standard of excellence. Ashleigh will have difficulty being partners with him. Just needs to watch her lines and hands, but she’ll be just fine if she does that.
Mary: More than just fine. Phenomenal, sexy, sultry. Didn’t think Ashleigh was capable of that. As for Jakob, can I get an Amen?
Nigel: Ashleigh proved why the judges had faith in her. Dancing with one of the most gifted dancers ever. If Ashleigh keeps dancing like that with Jakob, he’s gonna take her into the finals with him.

Ariana DeBose & Peter Sabasino
Style: Hip hop
Choreographer: Tabitha & Napoleon Dumo
Song: Black & Gold by Sam Sparro
Adam: Not dancing like each other. Focus on the similarity of musicality. And get buck.
Mary: Good beginning and end. A little bit sloppy in the middle.
Nigel: Didn’t ever find it. Peter got a little bit closer than Ariana. Disappointed.

Noelle Marsh (Melanie Lapatin fills in for her) & Russell Ferguson
Style: Foxtrot
Choreographer: Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin
Song: Vagabond Shoes by Vic Damone
Adam: Continues to defy explanation. Incredible, amazing, effortless, beautiful, fantastic.
Mary: Hat’s off to you. Respectable job. It factor.
Nigel: Living proof of why it’s so important to focus on the arts. So many things that weren’t good as far as technique, but done really well.

Bianca Revels & Victor Smalley
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Travis Wall
Song: Wasted Time by Me’Shell Ndegeocello
Adam: Impressed again by Travis. Bianca is at a distinct disadvantage because of her style. Good but needs to watch her shoulders and toes. That was Victor’s dance. Found the character of the music so beautifully.
Mary: Bianca did a fabulous job and sold the passion and chemistry between the two. Victor took it to another level.
Nigel: Most connected between partners so far. Both are growing. Confident.

Karen Hauer & Kevin Hunt
Style: ChaCha
Choreographer: Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin
Song: Push It (Glee Cast Version)
Adam: Karen, yikes. Pretty hard to watch anything else. Kevin did a great job visiting her world. Last lift series was awkward.
Mary: Karen was sharp, rhythmical, and sexy. On the hot tamale train. Kevin got 2 out of 3, not sharp enough to be on the train.
Nigel: Kevin danced that very well indeed. Karen’s got this in her blood.

Ellenore Scott & Ryan di Lello
Style: Contemporary Jazz
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Song: Arcadia by Apparat
Adam: Sonya rocks. Two of the most exciting dancers, albeit not the most technical.
Mary: Chemistry was crazy. Ryan was focused on his partner 100%, which is tough for a ballroom dancer.
Nigel: Ryan was a total surprise.

Pauline Mata & Brandon Dumlao
Style: Smooth Waltz
Choreographer: Jason Gilkison
Song: You Light up My Life by Whitney Houston
Adam: Some beautiful performance moments. Brandon needs to improve on some things but did well all things considered.
Mary: Very dynamic chemistry. Brandon really has to expand his quality of movement. Pauline was so elegant and beautiful.
Nigel: Felt a little like a prom couple. Beautifully done but not strong enough at all. Didn’t get enough from Pauline either.

Kathryn McCormack & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Hip hop
Choreographer: Dave Scott
Song: On & On by Missy Elliott
Adam: Fantastic chemistry. Amazing opportunity to learn from each other.
Mary: Yabba dabba doo. Legacy’s learned to dance. Kathryn was right on the money, too.
Nigel: Legacy brought this to life. Kathryn could be a little better but brought it together.

Mollee Gray & Nathan Trasoras
Style: Disco inspired by Mexican wrestling
Choreographer: Doriana Sanchez
Song: Turn the Beat Around (Pablo’s 12″ Remix) by Gloria Estefan
Adam: Most adorable couple. Infectious energy. Very sexy lifts, none of which seemed that dirty at all. Big fan of that number.
Mary: Really hard and really pulled off. Charisma off the charts. Gonna be here for an awfully long time.
Nigel: Bring the fun to this competition.

The judges have put Ariana, Brandon, Pauline, and Russell in danger. The Russell choice draws boos. It is quite thoroughly confusing.

The girls go first. All three of the judges are unanimous. They would like to see a little more passion from Pauline. Ariana DeBose will be going home. She needs more charisma in her work.

The guys are next. They were again unanimous. Russell is urged to keep dancing and learning other styles. Brandon has been eliminated. But Nigel will ask that the rules be changed so he can come back next season, as it should be. Giving him a day and a half to catch up after being cut because he wasn’t ready clearly did not work.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 9

Vegas week concluded with So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 8, and tonight we find out who the top 20 dancers are.

Nathan Trasoras, who got through last season when he was still 17, is the first person to get into the top 20.

David Hovhannisyan was shown briefly in the LA auditions as part of a going to Vegas montage. He has been eliminated.

Kathryn McCormack is a new face, and she will be joining the top 20.

Channing Cooke needs to work on her chemistry with a partner, but she has been voted into the top 20. Ellenore Scott and Ariana DeBose join her.

Billy Bell made Adam cry during his final solo. Juilliard is willing to let him out and hold his scholarship so he can be on the show, and the judges are willing to oblige.

Amber Jackson was warned about her performance in her first audition, despite her strong technique. She’s going to have to work on her ability to connect with the audience and try again.

Krumper Russell Ferguson has surprised the judges by being able to do more than they would have expected. He will advance. Hip hop dancer Kevin Hunt will also be advancing.

Bianca Revels is the first tap dancer to get the news. She’s been on this show a few times now, the last time saying she was not going to return after she got cut at this stage. This time, she will advance to the top 20. The next tapper, Phillip Attmore, who was Ryan Kasprzak’s roommate on tour, is also going to the next round. The final tap dancer, Peter Sabasino, has also joined the top 20.

Victor Smalley, who chopped off his hair because the judges said it was too distracting (and they were right that the new look is a lot better), has joined the top 20. Jakob Karr has as well.

Noelle Marsh and Mollee Gray were inseperable roommates in Vegas. They fear they will be separated. Mollee is up first and is told she dances too young, but she joins the top 20. Noelle has also made it.

Pauline Mata injured herself and was unable to finish Vegas week. Nonetheless, she has made the top 20.

B-Boy Jonathan “Legacy” Perez has made it to the top 20, despite the stupid nickname.

Paula van Oppen will also advance.

There are four people left in the holding room for two remaining spots. Two of those people are husband and wife.

The guys go into the room first. Ryan di Lello is up against fellow ballroom dancer Gene Bersten. Ryan advances.

The girls are next. Karen Hauer also auditioned with her husband, Matthew, who was cut previously. She, too, is a ballroom dancer and squaring off against Ashleigh di Lello. Karen Hauer is in the top 20.

Wait, there’s more. Ashleigh di Lello is also in the top 20. No, it’s not a lame extra person twist. I think they learned their lesson with Anoop Desai.

Paula turned them down. Seriously? Why even bother getting this far then? Her explanation is that she’s been offered a contract for a movie. I sure hope it’s a worthwhile movie and not some made for TV one that will play at 2AM. I wouldn’t bet on it.

To summarize, the top 10 girls are:
Ariana DeBose
Ashleigh di Lello
Bianca Revels
Channing Cooke
Ellenore Scott
Karen Hauer
Kathryn McCormack
Mollee Gray
Noelle Marsh
Pauline Mata

And the top 10 guys are:
Billy Bell
Jakob Karr
Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Kevin Hunt
Nathan Trasoras
Peter Sabasino
Phillip Attmore
Russell Ferguson
Ryan di Lello
Victor Smalley

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 8

Vegas week started in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 7, and we get back to the rest of it tonight.

Karen Hauer is in the first group to perform. She’s told she can go and sit down, which apparently means she’s through to the next round. Her husband Matthew is in the next group. He has been cut.

By the end of the first day, Iveta Lukosiute and Willem de Vries are eliminated.

Mollee Gray and Russell Ferguson are in the same group. Mollee is warned that she’s dancing like a little girl. Russell, who’s a krumper with no formal training, is given compliments from the judges. Both of them advance to the next round, although Mollee’s limping as she gets off the stage.

Russell’s group of himself and four contemporary dancers draw a Broadway routine. They are given nothing but positive comments and make it through another round.

Mollee’s group is unaware of whether she will be returning from the hospital or not. After two hours, she returns to say she has a bad sprain but can still dance. They put together a routine where she’s able to dance but spends much of the time sitting. Whatever the routine, it falls flat for the judges, but it’s enough for them to get through the group round.

The next round is Mia time, which this season apparently means meditating and hugging.

Kevin Hunt is in the first group and this year hopes to not get cut on the final day of Vegas again. He moves to the next round after amazing the judges. Mollee and Russell are also safe.

Legacy was given another chance after dancing for his life. He says that something inside of him has changed after working with Mia, and she responds that he’s perfectly imperfect, which translates into a ticket to the next round.

A Tyce Diorio Broadway routine is the next step.

Pauline Mata was also cut on the final day of Vegas previously. During the rehearsal, she lands funny at the end, and ends up with an ankle swollen so bad that she can’t go on stage to perform the routine.

Ashleigh Di Lello has managed to survive this far despite the initial criticism she’s received, although she’s still in her husband Ryan’s shadow. She’s told that she has grown the most this week and gets a unanimous vote from the judges. After his wife makes it through, it’s Ryan Di Lello’s turn, and she’s perfectly fine with him having on as few clothes as possible. Like Ashleigh, he also receives all the votes.

Dominic Pearson was eliminated in Vegas week in season 4 due to an injury. His confidence is soon shattered by the judges, who only give him two votes. Nigel complains that he’s crying, although he’s certainly not the first one to break down tonight.

Pauline is back from the hospital on crutches. She has been told to stay off her sprained ankle for two days. As she waits to find out her fate, the remaining dancers are given one final chance to do a solo before the judges make their decision on the top 20. It seems we’ll have to keep waiting to find out what happens to her because they’re not talking yet.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 9, which airs Tuesday at 9/8c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 7

The auditions concluded in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 6 with Hayley Cloud, Iveta Lukosiute, Ashleigh and Ryan Di Lello, and Leigh Asay. Now it’s Vegas week.

Nathan Trasoras first auditioned last year… when he was 17. He ended up with a ticket to Vegas then. Ellenore Scott follows him and keeps the judges in a good mood.

After the first 10 solos, the judges have some results. Nathan and Ellenore, along with Justin Kenney and Ivete Lukosiute, advance to the next round. Shelby “Skip” Skipper and Ashleigh and Ryan Di Lello also advance.

Thomas Hamilton and Allison Becker are in the next group. Neither will be advancing.

Willem de Vries and Jacob Jason are back same sex dancing. The judges have decided to split up the pair, eliminating Jacob but keeping Willem.

The first stage of the process has cut about 25% of the dancers, eliminating 41 out of 152. The next genre is hip hop.

Nobody believes that Teddy Tedholm is ghetto, but it doesn’t matter because he’s safe. B-Boy Jean Lloret, however, gets cut despite the style, unable to get the choreography.

Ryan Kasprzak, who has the most recognizeable name on the stage, is getting his shot again, after having made it so close last year when the judges supposedly had to pick between him and his brother Evan. The judges are split 3-3 on him, which is enough to keep him safe.

Cha cha is the next morning with Louis van Amstel and Anya.

The first casualty, Billy Bell, has been whacked upside his face by Christina Santana. He won’t be allowed back on stage until he stops bleeding.

Krumper Russell Ferguson is paired with Iveta Lukosiute. Both of them are moving forward, and they get a standing ovation from Adam Shankman.

Billy’s nose finally stops bleeding, but he’s missed almost all the rehearsal. Legacy is also in his group, but I have to wonder whether somebody with a stupid nickname can get to the top 20. He is dancing with Paula van Oppen. Legacy has been asked to fight for his life. Billy, Christina, and Paula, however, advance.

Ryan Kasprzak is in the final group of the day, hoping he can outdo what he did yesterday in hip hop, which he realizes is his worst genre. He’s told that the feel of his effort today was too strong, so it’s not happening again this season.

John Litzler is also dancing for his life. Nigel gives a no due to lack of emotion. Mary says yes. Adam also says yes, but he doesn’t feel his heart. The rest of the panel follows this up by saying no.

Legacy is the last remaining dancer to perform. His B-Boying is great, but he’s gonna have to do more than that. He gets a yes from all the judges.

Teddy Tedholm and Shelby Skipper have been eliminated.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 8, which airs Tuesday at 9/8c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 6

In So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 5, we saw Jonathan Litzler, Justin Keney, Kimalee Piedad, and Diana Drexler. Salt Lake City is the last stop on the audition tour.

Bryan Foyer looks like he quite possibly is going to injure himself. Mia calls him one of the strongest B-Boys. They give him a yes to choreography.

Tristy Mirci was in 25 car accidents (as a passenger) over 3 years. Memo to anyone who knows her: stop driving with her. Nigel suggests that these other drivers were dance critics. He can’t believe she’s danced for 3 years because somebody must be robbing her.

Hayley Cloud had a herniated disc following a bad landing during one of her routines. She says she’s recovered and ready to go again. Mary likes the confidence. Mia challenges her to do a handstand, which she can do for 5-8 minutes. Nigel likes that she’s a competitor and is sending her to Vegas.

Ariana Rowley is a local burleseque performer, whose goal is to bring a little bit of Vegas to Salt Lake City. She plans to show the judges something they’ve never seen before (and don’t want to see now). Well, Nigel’s at least entertained by this stripping. For whatever reason, Mia wants to see the choreography, which Nigel jumps right onboard with.

Ballroom dancer Iveta Lukosiute came from Lithuania, which was under Soviet control. Nigel doesn’t think he’s used this word very often: vivacious. Looked fantastic, danced brilliantly, and had of the more enjoyable couples auditions ever. Mary and Mia are trying to avoid crying as they send Iveta to Vegas.

After 15 minutes, Bryan has decided to stop choreography, planning to get some lessons and come back next year. Without the stripping, Ariana does not get as much love.

Pascal Nayigiziki quickly generates a look of “Why is this guy wasting my time?” from Nigel. Nobody knows what he’s doing up there, not even Pascal. Despite that, he gets what seemed to be the longest audition of the night. Where has he been training? Aw man, where hasn’t he trained?

Ashleigh and Ryan Di Lello used to be competitors, but now they’re married. Mary loved Ryan’s masculine leadership role, but Ashleigh’s a little bit fake. Mary’s wondering where the chemistry is from this married couple. Mia agrees. Nigel as well. Despite the negative comments, Ashleigh’s told she’s a good dancer, and both will be going to choreography.

Leigh Asay and Josh Murillo audition together, having partnered up about two weeks ago. She’s so involved in it that she loses a toenail. Oh, I did not need to see that. They’d like to see Josh do the choreography. As long as she can still walk, Leigh can come get a ticket to Vegas.

Josh will not be going to Vegas. Ryan will be. What about the wife? Yes, Ashleigh will be joining him.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 7, which airs Wednesday at 9/8c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 5

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 4 brought us Billy Bell, Anthony Hart, Amber Jackson, and Thomas Hamilton. Tonight we head to New Orleans. Nigel’s pretending he’s a doctor again, so Lil C and Adam Shankman join Mary.

Shelby “Skip” Skipper wants to put bounce music on the map. Mary’s never seen that before, but she loved it. Lil C thought it was buck. He will be going straight to Vegas, not something I would have anticipated from this particular style.

Jonathan Litzler is a contemporary dancer with some acrobatic background. Adam calls that one of the best auditions ever. Even without the tumbling, it was still great. Mary is running out of adjectives. I’m sure Lil C will let her borrow one.

Alison Nance, Calvin Turner Jr., and Edward Spots are also heading to Vegas.

Eric le Blanc is apparently on something. He says energy drinks. He wants to be on the hot tamale train, but Mary’s not gonna just give it away. Eric’s not expecting to advance, but Mary and Lil C will let him go to choreography.

Justin Kenney survived a car wreck but ended up dancing again three weeks later. He dances hip hop and breakdancing, although he can’t do some of the stuff he used to do on his head. Mary says he took it to a whole nother level with his power moves. They will be sending him to choreography.

Eric promises he’ll be back, but his run for this season has obviously been terminated. The judges agree to take a gamble on Justin and send him to Vegas.

Kimalee Piedad competes in theater arts that’s sort of like ice dancing. Her partner’s not auditioning, even if he should be. Mary thought that was just fabulous. Adam felt that was stunning but is curious what she’s like on her own with a different partner that may not be so skilled in lifts. He’d like to send her to choreography, but the other two want her to go straight to Vegas.

Popper Micah Mixon grew up on mayonaise sandwiches, sometimes with bread. Dancing was the only good thing he had. He’s never had any formal training, which impresses Mary. Adam said that was not new, but it was fresh. He will go to choreography.

Jakob Karr thrills all the judges. Mary calls it fantastic. Adam says he freaking rocks. Lil C calls him phenomenal.

Diana Drexler’s grandfather passed away yesterday, but she’s still there to pursue her dream. Mary enjoyed the passion and honesty. Adam doesn’t think he could have done that after what happened. She will be going to choreography.

Micah has been cut. Diana, however, has made it.
