So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 21

Nathan Trasoras and Noelle Marsh were voted out in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 20. Tonight the top 8 compete.

Ashleigh walks out with her arm in a sling. She says she’s ready to go, but they won’t clear her to dance. They want to do the MRI before allowing her to dance (they couldn’t do that before going on air?). Although she is not performing, she will still be able to receive votes for any fans who want her to advance.

Kathryn McCormack & Ryan di Lello
Style: Disco
Choreographer: Doriana Sanchez
Song: Last Dance (Samantha Ronson Remix) by Donna Summer
Adam: So much fun. Suited for someone of Ryan’s stature. Watched Kathryn become a better dancer by being on the show.
Mary: Just peaking at the right time. Ryan had perfect on point partner work.
Nigel: Style suited Kathryn. Ryan felt a little stiff.

Mollee Gray & Jakob Karr
Style: Viennese Waltz
Choreographer: Jason Gilkison
Song: Ordinary Day by Vanessa Carlton
Adam: Could have watched that for two more hours. Mollee’s blooming and peaking.
Mary: Jakob’s partnering work was fantastic. Mollee was priceless and is gaining confidence every routine.
Nigel: Everything fit together like a beautiful jigsaw puzzle. Both excellent.

Ellenore Scott & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Travis Wall
Song: Machine Gun by Portishead
Adam: Passionate, exciting, and awesome.
Mary: Ellenore was so dynamic and fearless. Legacy was amazing.
Nigel: The most dangerous routine of the season. Real props for that.

Russell Ferguson (accompanied by Shane’s assistant Rachel)
Style: Hip hop
Choreographer: Shane Sparks
Song: Too Much Booty 2 (Bobby J Remix) by Soundmaster T & Jah-Rista feat. Korveil
Adam: Smoking out there. Super high performance level and great energy.
Mary: Hard hitting, so on point.
Nigel: Gave Shane everything he wanted, plus a performance.

Kathryn McCormack & Ryan di Lello
Style: ChaCha
Choreographer: Jason Gilikson
Song: Put Your Hands on Me by Joss Stone
Adam: Very connected. Kathryn is surging. Ryan was so hot in there.
Mary: On fire. Chemistry, power, effortless. Two tickets on the hot tamale train.
Nigel: Kathryn looked like a Latin ballroom dancer. Magical together.

Mollee Gray & Jakob Karr
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Joey Dowling
Song: Easy Street (Samantha Ronson Remix) from Annie (original TV soundtrack)
Adam: Really showed off and had great performances. Mollee was great, and Jakob’s one of the best dancers ever on the show.
Mary: Mollee really captured the style. Best partnership for that dance.
Nigel: Mollee should go to Broadway. Jakob is like Joel Grey.

Ellenore Scott & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Hip hop
Choreographers: Tabitah & Napoleon Dumo
Song: People Are Strange (District 78 Remix) by The Doors
Adam: Didn’t push them.
Mary: Slightly disappointed. Didn’t really hit.
Nigel: Style over substance.

Following his solo, Ryan asks that people vote for his wife. I don’t think he has anything to worry about. For someone who started off as the underdog, Ashleigh’s proved to be a favorite.

Russell Ferguson (accompanied by Nakul’s assistant Alicia)
Style: Bollywood
Choreographer: Nakul dev Mahajan
Song: Spirit of Rangeela from Rangeela (original soundtrack)
Adam: Blew joy out of every pore.
Mary: Bursted on the stage and excited everybody.
Nigel: Magnetic quality that draws the audience in.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 19

Karen Hauer and Victor Smalley were voted out in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 18, bringing us down to the top 10. All the old couples have been broken up, and tonight they will start dancing with new couples but for individual votes.

Noelle Marsh & Ryan di Lello
Style: Hip hop
Choreographers: Tabitha & Napoleon Dumo
Song: Give It to Me Right by Melanie Fiona
Nigel: Noelle certainly was sexy this week. Ryan did everything very strongly but didn’t feel the funk.
Mary: Great chemistry. Noelle seemed like a different dancer tonight. Ryan had it all going on.
Adam: Noelle was smoking. Ryan was a great partner.

Ashleigh di Lello & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Gary Stuart
Song: Poison by The Prodigy
Nigel: Congratulations on the effort.
Mary: Took a lot of athletics. So many great moments.
Adam: Saw no fear. Probably the best ending moment of any number of the season.

Kathryn McCormack & Nathan Trasoras
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Spencer Liff
Song: Choreography by Danny Kaye
Nigel: Both found that style perfectly. Chemistry was a little isolated.
Mary: Kathryn was marvelous. No trouble for Nathan.
Adam: Nathan was really confident. Kathryn brought a little maturity out in him.

Ellenore Scott & Jakob Karr
Style: Quickstep
Choreographers: Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin
Song: Four Brothers by Manhattan Transfer
Nigel: Fun routine. Jakob had good body line but needs to be careful with his feet. Very good together.
Mary: Conquered some tough stuff.
Adam: So fantastic. Been wanting to see this couple all season.

Mollee Gray & Russell Ferguson
Style: Lyrical Jazz
Choreographer: Mandy Moore
Song: It Must Have Been Love by Roxette
Nigel: Mollee is a young woman now. Russell’s moving like a real contemporary dancer.
Mary: Mollee fed off Russell’s strength and elevated herself. Russell comes through every time. Favorite couple tonight.
Adam: Russell’s a beautiful contemporary dancer and an extraordinary partner. Shake up last week worked for Mollee. Like a coming out party.

Noelle Marsh & Ryan di Lello
Style: Smooth waltz
Choreographers: JT & Tomas
Song: Jeaux d’eau from O (Cirque du Soleil soundtrack)
Nigel: Would love to see a little more softness in Noelle’s neck and shoulders, but the rest of it was captivating.
Mary: Noelle is breathtaking in this routine. Ryan dominated that in the right way.
Adam: Breathing with you. It was that good. Power partnership.

Ashleigh di Lello & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Hip hop
Choreographer: Dave Scott
Song: Slow Down by Bobby Valentino
Nigel: Didn’t feel it. Not enough dancing in there.
Mary: Didn’t work.
Adam: Not challenging enough.

Kathryn McCormack & Nathan Trasoras
Style: Rumba
Choreographers: Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin
Song: Walk on By by Aretha Franklin
Nigel: Nathan’s sour face spoiled the chemistry. The dancing was good, although it lacked ballroom considering it was a rumba.
Mary: Not believable. Some really fabulous moments, along with awkward ones.
Adam: Kathryn danced like a competitor.

Ellenore Scott & Jakob Karr
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Nigel: Brilliance. Rewritten the rules when it comes to chemistry. Favorite routine of the season.
Mary: The new dream team. Delivered and then some. Jakob’s one of the best dancers in the competition. Found a way to connect with each other.

Mollee Gray & Russell Ferguson
Style: Jive
Choreographers: Anya Garnis & Pasha Kovalev
Song: Land of 1000 Dances by Jimmy Barnes
Nigel: Only couple that could have followed the last routine. Fun couple working together.
Mary: So much fun. Brought to life.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 18

The top six couples performed in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 17, and tonight two more will go home.

Karen & Victor and Ashleigh & Jakob step forward first. Karen & Victor are the first couple in danger, as Ashleigh & Jakob are safe. Mary is unsurprised by this placement.

Mollee & Nathan and Kathryn & Legacy are up next. Mollee & Nathan are the second couple in danger tonight, as Kathryn & Legacy join the top 10. As the judges said last night, Adam’s looking forward to them both getting more mature partners.

The final pair of couples is Ellenore & Ryan and Noelle & Russell. The third couple in danger is Ellenore & Ryan. Noelle & Russell are in the top 10. Nigel has nothing but good things to say about Ellenore and Ryan, who are having trouble obtaining a fan base.

That leaves Karen, Victor, Mollee, Nathan, Ellenore, and Ryan dancing for their lives. Four of these people were in the bottom last week, and two of them lost partners then. Ellenore & Ryan were safe last week, although they were in the bottom the week before (along with Karen).

Starting with the girls, the judges are unanimous with their decision. Mollee for the first time showed the judges someone actually fighting for their place on the show (that solo was awesome). Ellenore is not given any advice because the judges can’t think of any need for improvement. Karen’s told that her solo felt like she was waiving the white flag. She has been eliminated from the show.

The judges are not unanimous with their decision for the boys. Victor is told he’s grown as a person, and his solo was terrific as well. Ryan’s challenge is to compete with contemporary guys in solos, although his partnership work is tremendous. Nathan is a brilliant dancer, but hasn’t grown enough for Nigel’s taste. If Nigel had his way, he would be going home tonight. However, Nigel does not get his way. Instead, Victor has been eliminated.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 19, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 17

Channing and Kevin were sent home in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 16. Tonight the 12 remaining dancers compete to make the top 10. Each couple will get two chances to perform tonight.

Ellenore Scott & Ryan di Lello
Style: Lindy hop
Choreographer: Carla Heiney
Song: I’ve Got to Be a Rug Cutter by Boilermaker Jazz Band
Adam: Amazing Ryan got through all those lifts after having hurt his back. Ellenore gets better every week.
Mary: Captured the right feel.
Nigel: Ryan’s tall but managed to get down into the floor.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-01

Kathryn McCormack & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Song: So Deep by Hot Chip
Adam: If you keep dancing like this, you’re going all the way.
Mary: Really outstanding dancing. Walking right into the top 10.
Nigel: Kathryn was incredibly sexy. Legacy has some surprisingly good musical instincts.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-02

Karen Hauer & Victor Smalley
Style: Tango
Choreographers: Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin
Song: Montserrat by Orquesta del Plata
Adam: This partnership really ended up working out.
Mary: Looked tremendous with the high difficulty level. Karen’s still on the train, but Victor’s picking up steam.
Nigel: Intense chemistry and beautiful to watch. Victor needs to be careful about walking like Donald Duck, but everything else is fabulous. Karen has the quality that you just have to watch her.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-03

Mollee Gray & Nathan Trasoras
Style: Hip hop – the day Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone
Choreographer: Jamal Sims
Song: Ring-A-Ling by Black Eyed Peas
Adam: Can tell how much Nathan loves doing hip hop. Could see a little of the stress on Mollee.
Mary: Picked up steam as it went along. Fun, mostly synchronized.
Nigel: Looking forward to you both moving on to a more mature partner.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-04

Noelle Marsh & Russell Ferguson
Style: Samba
Choreographers: Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin
Song: Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira
Adam: Too nice. Didn’t enter into the character of the samba.
Mary: Felt a little bit shallow and like skating across the floor, but the performance was phenomenal.
Nigel: Needed more sensuality from Noelle. Felt a little homogenized (isn’t that what they do to milk?).
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-05

Ashleigh di Lello and Jakob Karr
Style: Lyrical jazz – a moment of everything being content
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Song: Time Flies by Lykke Li
Adam: So beautiful. Incredibly sad to see this partnership break up. Ashleigh’s grown, part of it due to her partner. No trace of ballroom on her any more. Jakob is surreal.
Mary: Jakob’s a confident, passionate technical genius. Ashleigh is no longer a surprise because she’s grown so much.
Nigel: Ashleigh has also given Jakob something very special in their partnership.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-06

Ellenore Scott & Ryan di Lello
Style: Broadway – temptation of fame
Choreographer: Spencer Liff
Song: Razzle Dazzle from Chicago (original Broadway cast)
Adam: Nailed it. Full of character and flavor. Ryan was great, but Ellenore was a rock star.
Mary: Ryan just dug in. A true professional dancer. Ellenore is unique and is the it girl.
Nigel: Loved the choreography and loved the characters, too.

Kathryn McCormack & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Viennese Waltz
Choreographers: Jean Marc Genereaux and France
Song: Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Adam: Extraordinary attempt by Legacy. Mostly fantastic. Kathryn is so gorgeous tonight.
Mary: Both gonna be okay. Legacy’s feet were just smacking around the stage. Kathryn’s just gorgeous. Never caught in a bad moment.
Nigel: A lot of things going on there really weren’t as good as they could have been, but everybody’s hearts have already been stolen. Kathryn stole the evening. Not certain both are safe yet in this tough night.

Karen Hauer & Victor Smalley
Style: Hip hop
Choreographer: Laurieann Gibson
Song: Moving Mountains by Usher
Adam: Enormous amount of commitment and danced great.
Mary: Okay but not memorable.
Nigel: Didn’t feel the chemistry or the synchronization. Nothing positive.

Mollee Gray & Nathan Trasoras
Style: Cancan
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Cancan Suite by Offenbach/Ponchielli
Adam: Perfect couple to get this style. Nathan was utilized a little better, but a really good routine for both.
Mary: Would have never known Mollee’s got an injured ankle.
Nigel: Done with all of the energy and enthusiasm that routine demanded.

Noelle Marsh & Russell Ferguson
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: A Case of You by Diana Krall
Adam: Just gorgeous. Aren’t going anywhere.
Mary: Very special and clever routine. Out of this world.
Nigel: Noelle just committed to everything. Russell’s technique gets better every week.

Ashleigh di Lello & Jakob Karr
Style: Cha cha
Choreographers: Jean Marc Generaux and France
Song: Cha Cha Heels (Ralphi Rosario Radio Edit) by Rosabel feat. Jeanie Tracy
Adam: Ashleigh’s world, and we’re all just visiting. Jakob made himself seem like a ballroom dancer. Couple of the night.
Mary: Blown out of the ballpark with both numbers.
Nigel: Jakob’s foot work was good. Waltzing through to the top 10.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 18, which airs Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 16

The top 14 dancers performed in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 15, and tonight two more will be sent home.

Ashleigh di Lello & Jakob Karr are safe. Karen Hauer & Kevin Hunt are in the bottom three. Adam is not surprised.

Ellenore Scott & Ryan di Lello are safe. Noelle Marsh & Russell Ferguson and Channing Cooke & Victor Smalley step forward next. Channing & Victor are the ones in the bottom three.

Mollee Gray & Nathan Trasoras and Kathryn McCormack and Jonathan “Legacy” Perez are the last two couples. Mollee & Nathan are the final couple to join the bottom three. This week, Nigel is surprised by their standing there.

The six people who will be dancing for their lives are: Karen, Kevin, Channing, Victor, Mollee, and Nathan.

The judges are unanimous on both decisions tonight. Mollee proved that she can dance like a woman, and she is safe. Although her technique is good, Channing’s personality is not coming out. Karen, however, is a performer, so Channing has been eliminated.

The guys go next. Nathan learned a lesson in the past week, and he is safe. Victor needs to do more than just pirouette. Kevin’s up against two guys who are really great dancers, though, so he has been eliminated from the competition.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 17, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 15

Pauline Mata and Peter Sabasino were sent home in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 14.

Ashleigh di Lello & Jakob Karr
Style: Hip hop
Choreographers: Tabitha and Naploeon Dumo
Song: Whatcha Say by Jason Derulo
Nigel: Jakob comes up to scratch and adds to the choreography every week. Ashleigh’s growing at a much faster pace than imagined.
Mary: Ashleigh is a star tonight. Jakob, too.
Adam: Jakob’s about as sure a bet for the top ten as there ever was. Ashleigh is also a top contender.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-01

Karen Hauer & Kevin Hunt
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Spencer Liff
Song: If My Friends Could See Me Now from Sweet Charity (2005 Broadway Revival Cast)
Nigel: Didn’t enjoy Karen’s performance as much as usual. Not enough humor brought to the work. More than Kevin, though.
Mary: Needed to be so much more. Seemed nice and fairly safe. Karen faired better than Kevin.
Adam: A bump in the road but good for the show.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-02

Noelle Marsh & Russell Ferguson
Style: Foxtrot
Choreographer: Eddie Simon
Song: Baby (You’ve Got What It Takes) by Michael Buble (with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings)
Nigel: Russell’s vastly improved in two weeks. Noelle’s successful at making herself seen.
Mary: Russell still looked like that was effortless. Noelle looked smooth and elegant.
Adam: Understood the task and stepped up to it. Fantastic.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-03

Channing Cooke & Victor Smalley
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Blackbird by Bobby McFerrin
Nigel: First time it looked like Channing actually enjoyed the performance. Victor’s really matured. Not growing much higher as a dancer.
Mary: Victor’s so good but is going to have to dig deeper. Fun to see Channing just let it go.
Adam: Channing will do great if she keeps growing. Victor’s still great but needs to find a way to totally let himself go.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-04

Kathryn McCormack & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Paso doble
Choreographer: Tony Meredith
Song: Pursuit by Ka (Cirque du Soleil soundtrack)
Nigel: Kathryn certainly changed this week and brought fantastic maturity this week. Legacy’s passion and hunger will push him into the top 10.
Mary: Kathryn played that just right. Legacy’s just crazy again this week. The character was just perfect.
Adam: Kathryn killed it. Legacy’s stamina is absolutely spectacular, which shows great growth from Vegas.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-05

Ellenore Scott & Ryan di Lello
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Travis Wahl
Song: Your Ex-Lover’s Dead by Stars
Nigel: Ellenore is one of the sharpest tools in the box this season. Ryan is the best ballroom dancer that has ever done contemporary.
Mary: Ellenore is having star quality moments. Ryan’s timing on catching her in the lifts was perfection.
Adam: SYTYCD has kicked in just now.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-06

Mollee Gray & Nathan Trasoras
Style: Pop jazz
Choreographer: Laurieann Gibson
Song: Bad Romance by Lady Gaga
Nigel: Dug much deeper with this performance. Mollee is one of the most committed dancers ever. Nathan’s possibly one of the most talented young men, but he has got to grow.
Mary: So good to have the dream team back. No chills, but really good.
Adam: This competition won’t come easy to Nathan. Both need to be more than just cute.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-07

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 14

The top 16 performed in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 13. Tonight, two more will be sent home based on America’s votes.

Ellenore & Ryan are the first couple to join the bottom three, as the judges were anticipating.

Channing & Victor are safe. Kathryn & Legacy are also safe.

Peter & Pauline are in the bottom three. Ashleigh & Jakob and Russell & Noelle are safe.

Karen & Kevin round out the bottom three. As much as the judges called out Mollee & Nathan last night, they’ve got too much of a fan base to be shut out by one bad performance.

The six dancers who will dance for their lives are: Ellenore, Ryan, Peter, Pauline, Karen, and Kevin.

The judges did not think that anybody gave them a decent enough performance to stay in the competition. With that said, Nigel wants the audience to shut up.

Nigel suggests that Karen is intimidating and, as a result, might not get the votes she deserves. Ellenore needs to be careful she does not lose her competitive edge. Having been pretty close to the edge in recent weeks, it’s Pauline Mata who ends up getting the boot. The judges call her dancing advanced classroomy, whatever that means.

The judges are again unanimous with the guys. Although his partnering is good, Ryan really needs to improve on his solos. Peter has yet to show his star quality. Kevin’s improving every week, so they will invest in him a little longer. It’s the end of the road for Peter Sabasino, putting an end to the third tapper in two weeks.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 15, which airs Tuesday at 8/7c on Fox.
