So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 21

The top 4 danced in So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 20. Tonight one more person will be eliminated as we narrow things down heading into the finals.

So basically this is like an episode of American Idol. As much filler as possible.

The first of the top two dancers is going to be revealed now. Following her very strange bottom three appearance last week, Lauren Froderman’s fans have rallied to put her in the top.

The next person in the finale is Kent Boyd.

That leaves Adechike Torbert and Robert Roldan in danger. The final person through to next week’s finale is Robert. Adechike has been eliminated.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 22, which airs Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 20

Style: African Jazz

Number: 1-888-6-BEST-02

Robert Roldan with Anya
Style: Viennese Waltz
Choreographer: Jonathan Roberts

Number: 1-888-6-BEST-04

Lauren Froderman with Ade
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Sean Cheesman
Song: Hide U (John Creamer & Stephanie K Remix) by Kosheen
Nigel: Really strong work. Masculine work done in a feminine way. Hope we’ll see you in the finale.
Tyce: Could have been a little more ferociousness at the end. Spectacular dancing.
Mia: Strong female dancer. As a whole, it was amazing.
Adam: I wanna hire you.

Adechike Torbert with Kathryn
Choreographers: Desmond Richardson & Dwight Rohden
Song: Fearless Love by Melissa Etheridge
Nigel: Showcased your talents. Lost a little wind at the end.
Tyce: Put a piece of yourself on the dance floor. Have a lot more to go.
Mia: You have the potential. Glimpses of it, but found the exhaustion coming through.

Robert Roldan with Dominic

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 19

The top 6 danced (again) in So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 18. Tonight two will be sent home.

Lauren had to go to the hospital for dehydration, but she is fine now. Hopefully she doesn’t get injured like everybody else.

Kent Boyd and Jose Ruiz are first. Let’s face it that Kent ain’t going home no matter how much the judges don’t like his facial expressions. Jose, however, returns to the bottom three.

Billy Bell and Aechike Torbert are the next pair. Billy Bell again returns to the bottom three.

Robert Roldan and Lauren Froderman are the final pair. By some miracle, Robert is safe, and Lauren is in the bottom three. Is she being Punk’d?

Jose Ruiz, Billy Bell, and Lauren Froderman will be dancing for their lives.

The judges have made a unanimous decision, which they say is the hardest decision ever on this show, although the answer is obvious. Lauren needs to stay. Either of the other two should have been cut last week. Jose has mastered routines really well, surprising the judges as to how well he has done. Billy has been in the bottom three for the last 5 weeks, in spite of his talent. This is Lauren’s first trip to the bottom three, and she is safe. Jose Ruiz and Billy Bell have been eliminated.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 18

Because they just make the show up as they go, nobody was eliminated in So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 17. Toni Redpath is this week’s guest judge.

Kent Boyd with Anya
Style: Cha cha
Choreographers: Jean Marc-Genereaux & France
Song: My First Kiss by 3oh!3 feat. Ke$ha
Nigel: Ended up as a man. Could take a little more control with your strong hands.
Toni: Better than the first time. More grounded, better footwork, but sacrificed your posture.
Mia: Moved your hips the right way, but felt a little crunchy, as opposed to soft shelled.
Adam: Super solid performance but needed to dance like a tall person and relax.

Robert Roldan with Kathryn
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey
Song: Heaven Is a Place on Earth by Katie Thompson
Nigel: Loved the connectivity. Robert is growing and maturing to be better than expected.
Toni: Yes, I would want to be the woman dancing with you.
Mia: Really mature and selfless allowing the story to just go forward.
Adam: Supported each other magnificently. Killed it.

Adechike Torbert with Courtney
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Manteca by Dizzy Gillespie
Mia: Great performance, but you have to find a balance of style to go with the power.
Toni: Looked like fun.
Nigel: Enough energy and fabulous moves, but not enough abandon.

Jose Ruiz with Comfort
Style: Hip hop
Choreographers: Marty Kudelka & Dana Wilson
Song: Try a Little Tenderness by Otis Redding
Nigel: Not your style in this. A little uncomfortable in places.
Toni: So absorbed in the character.
Mia: No swag. Did not tap into Marty’s gift. Kooky.
Adam: Something that should have been darker and more intimate became fun.

Lauren Froderman with Allison
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Who’s Got the Pain from Damn Yankees 1994 Original Broadway Cast
Adam: Lauren’s an all star already.
Mia: So solid. Nothing to critique. Ahead of everyone.
Toni: Strong is sexy. Hit the facial expressions just right.
Nigel: First time we’ve seen this on American Idol, or whatever show this is. Hit everything at the right level. Will be in the finale.

Billy Bell with Ade
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey
Song: Mad World (Alternate) by Michael Andrews feat. Gary Jules
Nigel: Quite brilliant. Most mature I’ve ever seen from you.
Toni: Some pieces transcend dance.
Mia: Sheer perfection. Favorite performance from you this season.
Adam: Just born on the show. Dropped into the zone.

Jose Ruiz & Kent Boyd
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Spencer Liff
Song: From This Moment on from the Kiss Me Kate Soundtrack
Adam: Fantastically executed. Seeing it coming down between Kent and Lauren. Born to do this. Jose is unbelievable for a hip hop dancer.
Mia: Fantabulous. Kent needs to live in this world. Even the faces work. Jose kept up.
Toni: Kent is a contender.
Nigel: Nothing Kent hasn’t done brilliantly. Worst thing for Jose was having to do it with Kent. May be Jose’s last week here.

Lauren Froderman & Adechike Torbert
Style: Foxtrot
Choreographers: Jean Marc-Genereaux & France
Song: Fever by Beyonce
Nigel: Did some things better than a ballroom dancer but some things didn’t sit right.
Toni: Fantastic ballroom choreography but didn’t look like it.
Mia: Feel a disconnect when Adechike steps away from his partner. Lauren’s grace, sensuality, and presence make it look like she’s done it a million times.
Adam: Just more proof Lauren can master anything. Adechike looked very concerned making sure his partner was safe, which he should be, but it shouldn’t show.

Robert Roldan & Billy Bell
Style: Bollywood
Choreographer: Nakul dev Mahajan
Song: Ganesh from Bombay Dreams Soundtrack
Nigel: One of the best Bollywood routines with two guys. Robert’s hands were fantastic.
Toni: I like burgers more than pizza, and Robert’s a big cheesy hamburger. Really love what he does.
Mia: Everything right in that. Hopefully nobody got injured.
Adam: Huge night for Billy. Robert was brilliant.

Jose Ruiz: 1-888-6-BEST-01
Lauren Froderman: 1-888-6-BEST-02
Billy Bell: 1-888-6-BEST-03
Kent Boyd: 1-888-6-BEST-04
Robert Roldan: 1-888-6-BEST-05
Adechike Torbert: 1-888-6-BEST-06

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 19, which airs Thursday at 9/8c on Fox.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 17

5 of the top 6 performed in So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 16. For the third week in a row, one person was out due to injury.

Having opted to sit out, Billy Bell is automatically in the bottom three.

Lauren Froderman is safe. So is Kent Boyd.

Adechike Tolbert, Robert Roldan, and Jose Ruiz are the next group to step forward, and they’re pretty much the underdogs at this point. Two of them will be in danger. The person who can relax is Adechike.

That leaves Billy Bell, Robert Roldan, and Jose Ruiz in the bottom three.

Unlike the last two weeks, Billy Bell is fine. He could have danced (and probably should have), so he should be good to go next week should he survive. That means the judges are actually going to have to make a decision. A couple of the judges don’t feel as though Robert is growing. They, likewise, think Jose has stopped growing, except in his own area. Billy made the decision for the first time in the show’s history that he wouldn’t dance, despite being cleared by the doctors. The judges have decided that nobody is going home this week. Lame. So much for them having to make a decision. Two people will be going home next week.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 16

Once again, injury was the deciding factor in So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 15, as Ashley Galvan was sent home. Tonight the top 6 perform, and we are greeted by special guest judge Kenny Ortega, the man responsible for High School Musical.

To start off the show, we’re told about ANOTHER injury. This time it’s Billy Bell. He’s okay to perform if he feels okay. He declines. Based on how things have been going, he probably would have ended up in the bottom three anyway, but dancing may have at least bailed him out.

Lauren Froderman with Twitch
Style: Hip hop
Choreographers: Napoleon & Tabitha Dumo
Song: My Chick Bad by Ludacris & Nicki Minaj
Adam: Who are you? Tore it up. Listen to the music so beautifully.
Mia: So aggressive but kept your sexy girl in there.
Kenny: Enough energy to power Los Angeles. Funky, sexy, fantastic.
Nigel: Bad, nasty, buck, and sick. (So good then.)
Number: 1-888-6-BEST-01

Jose Ruiz with Allison
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Song: Eternal Suhshine of a Spotless Mind Theme by Jon Brion
Adam: Beautiful but difficult to critique your dancing. Not much dancing going on.
Mia: Pedestrian contemporary, which most people can handle. Done so well, but not much growth.
Kenny: Exquisite partnering.
Nigel: Weaknesses were covered up, which was clever.
Number: 1-888-6-BEST-02

Robert Roldan with Lauren
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Wasted Time by My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult
Adam: Smoking. So good. Command the stage, great partner. Watch your hands.
Mia: Like a breath of fresh air. Strong dancing. Watch your head when you do jumps.
Kenny: Liquid movement.
Number: 1-888-6-BEST-03

Kent Boyd with Kathryn
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Song: Tightrope by Janelle Monae
Adam: Definitely made the show more special. Kicked ass.
Mia: Strong dancer. Sometimes your face is so animated it can be juvenile.
Kenny: Awesome. The guy to beat.
Nigel: Outdanced the all stars two weeks in a row.
Number: 1-888-6-BEST-04

Adechike Torbert wit Comfort
Style: Lyrical hip hop
Choreographer: Napoleon & Tabitha Dumo
Song: Fallin’ by Alicia Keys
Adam: Like watching a movie. So intense, beautiful, horrifying.
Mia: More real than any contemporary piece. Unbelievable.
Kenny: You have to have it within you, and you really do. Like if Wesley Snipes could dance.
Nigel: Moved to another level. That’s honesty in a dance routine.
Number: 1-888-6-BEST-05

Lauren Froderman & Robert Roldan
Style: Samba
Choreographer: Dmitry Chaplin
Song: Drummer Boy (SYTYCD Remix) by Debi Nova
Adam: Robert had clean lines and great partnership. Lauren could have a future in ballroom.
Mia: Robert looks like a samba dancer. Lauren had a heaviness to her movement.
Kenny: Robert’s partnering was amazing.
Nigel: Robert’s upper body reminds me of Dmitry. Lauren made contact with the audience, as well as her partner, although it could be attacked technically.

Adechike Torbert & Jose Ruiz
Style: Paso Doble
Choreographer: Dmitry Chaplin
Song: The Arrival/Rampage/Continued Existence by James Dooley
Adam: Loved the commitment. Put a lot of strength into it. Jose still needs to work on his legs and feet. Adechike could use more abandon.
Mia: Okay. Legs were flailing, but the focus was there.
Kenny: Interesting exercise. Credit for giving it your all.
Nigel: Valiant effort, but there’s a lot to learn.

Kent Boyd with Twitch
Style: Stepping
Choreographer: Chuck Maldonado
Song: Pro Nails (Rusko Remix) by Kid Sister
Adam: Thank you for kicking ass.
Mia: Disgusting, filthy, gross, sick, amazing. You are the one to beat.
Kenny: Awesome.
Nigel: Managed to combat everything that has been thrown at you.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 15

6 of the top 7 performed in So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 14. Tonight one more will go home.

Due to her injury, Ashley Galvan is automatically the first member of the bottom three.

Kent Boyd and Lauren Froderman go first. Obviously, neither of them are in danger, whether Cat tries to trick them or not.

Billy Bell and Adechike Torbert are next. Billy is in the bottom three.

Jose Ruiz and Robert Roldan are the final pair. Robert is safe, and Jose is the last person in the bottom three.

That leaves Ashley, Billy, and Jose in the bottom three, two of whom were spared from having had to face the judges last week due to Alex’s injury.

The judges have made their decision. Jose seems to be fighting to remain. Billy is going in the right direction, but he needs to keep going. Ashley has been examined by two doctors. She needs 3-5 weeks rest. Because of that, she has been eliminated.

Stay tuned to dingoRUE for another live recap of So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Episode 16, which airs Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.

Adam: Probably going to be one of the performances of the season.
Number: 1-888-6-BEST-04

Billy Bell with Anya
Style: Jive
Choreographer: Louie van Amstel

Adechicke Torbert & Kent Boyd
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Dee Caspary
Song: You Only Disappear by Tom McRae
Nigel: Tremendous. Really good work yet again. Fabulous leap from Adechike. Kent, thanks for not going over the top. Remarkable chance of being this year’s champion.
Mia: Kent is an unbelievable dancer. Praying that this week was going to be great for Adechike, and it is.
