America’s Got Talent Season 4 Episode 5

America’s Got Talent 4 Episode 4 brought us dancer Hairo Torres.

Nasty Nate Watkins believes he’s better than Prince, Cher, and Ozzy, which is apparently supposed to mean he thinks he’s good. He fancies himself a singer. Based on his singing ability, it’s obvious why they call him nasty. Piers and David buzz. Sharon wants to watch the train finish wrecking. Hoff calls him simply the worst. If he wants to go to Vegas, he’d better drive there.

Sheldon Wesley, creator of the Footworks Fitness aerobic step program, is there with his partner Alexandra Stratigos to turn the step into a drum. It’s probably a fun workout, but it’s just not an act.

The final contestant of the day in Hollywood is 49 year old nurse Terri Willis, who looks like she will be a complete disaster, but she could surprise us. She says she is the 7th cousin to Celine Dion, and she sings her song Because You Loved Me. It’s a resounding no. So concludes the worst day in the history of America’s Got Talent and David Hasselhoff’s life.

Perhaps high school student Bri (apparently last nameless already) can turn things around on day two. She sings and plays keyboard, which she found to overcome her bad stuttering problem that she was born with. She sings Burnin Up by the Jonas Brothers. Sharon’s happy to see her show her own personality in the song. Piers thinks she has raw talent. Hoff says she’s got a big career ahead of her. She’s headed to Vegas, and not just because she lives there.

TJ is there with his little mamas. Little dude got skills whether he’s any good or not. TJ & the Little Mamas is a group of 6-9 year olds that dances hip hop and jazz. Hasselhoff calls them an inspiration to all the kids in America. They’re going to Vegas.

Monsieur Pedicure (is that the best you could do?) does an unusual dance that he discovered last summer. He calls his talent different and unique. Translation: bad. He is a toe dancer. Oy. He dresses his toes then proceeds to wiggle them. Oh, now that’s just plain pathetic. Hoff says this is the new worst act in history.

Mario Ferreira and his wife Jennifer Romas-Ferreira look like they probably do something like driving spikes through their feet. They promise sexy and dangerous. She does a bunch of pointless acrobatic moves whlie he saws stuff. Finally we get to the meat of the trick. He juggles chainsaws. Hoff calls them terrific. Piers thinks they were born to be Vegas performers.

Lawrence Beaman is a singer from Mississippi. He sings Old Man River from Show Boat and gets a standing ovation. Piers calls that an amazing, stunning performance. Sharon thinks he’s a class act. David says he’s brought class, grace, and talent.

America’s Got Talent Season 4 Episode 4

Last night on America’s Got Talent Season 4 Episode 3, we got a look at Thia Megia and Kevin Skinner.

Divani (no last name apparently) will be singing. It ain’t gonna be pretty. She sings Queen of the Night. She won’t be the queen of this night. Only Piers buzzes her, but she stops half way through because there is too much booing.

Jolie & Lester have come here with their Granny and Jethro and have brought a guitar, a pot, and a lawnmower. She plays the guitar and sings while Nick throws vegetables at Lester so they can be ground up in the mower. Yeah, I don’t think this was supposed to make sense.

A group of orphan Annies, 27 in all ages 8-14, from the Lake Houston Performing Arts Center is up next. They shake their groove thing. Sharon thought it was just perfect. Hoff thought they lit up Houston.

Pam Martin is here with Viva, a dancing dog. She is a dog trainer, which brings hope for a good routine. Sharon thought she was fabulous. Hoff says it was the best dog dance act he’s ever seen (has he seen a lot?). Viva Las Vegas.

Marti Brill thinks he’s a magician. Outlook not good. He’s been a professional magician since he was 5 apparently. Piers is yawning and buzzes. Sharon follows suit. David figures he’s got an hour to fill. Piers calls him the most annoying man in Miami.

Joseph Constantine and his wife KC are illusionists. She hops into a box and then disappears. Hasselhoff thought it was very nice, but they’ve seen that act at least 6 or 7 times already. Piers says that was the best example of that act they’ve seen, though. Despite their sob story about having hit hard times, Hoff has to reject the act like he rejected all those that came before it. Piers and Sharon, however, say yes. They’re definitely going to need to step it up if they hope to continue beyond the next stage.

It’s the final act of the night, and the trend has been for the final act to be great. Hairo Torres is a breakdancer. Piers would like to see more of that because he’s one of the more original acts they’ve seen. Hasselhoff thought it was incredible.

Kevin Skinner America’s Got Talent 4

When we heard he was an unemployed chicken catcher, nobody expected very much from Kevin Skinner, but once he started singing and playing his guitar, it silenced his critics pretty quickly. Here he is performing If Tomorrow Never Comes by Garth Brooks on America’s Got Talent season 4. I’ll see if I can dig up a better quality video, but this should suffice for now.

America’s Got Talent Season 4 Episode 3

America’s Got Talent Season 4 Episode 2 brought us performances by Alizma and Arcadian Broad.

Carol Lugo, 62, wants to prove it’s never too late to follow your dream. If only her dream were one she were capable of succeeding at. She has come to dance. Kudos for not breaking a hip, but that was just not what you would call not bad. Sharon calls her wonderfully bizarre. Hasselhoff calls her awesome, probably because she can dance better than he can. The judges all say yes. Yeah, it’s all quite weird.

Jay Mattioli is a magician and has been since he was a kid. Now it’s do or die time. He’s a high energy guy. His first trick is to make a microphone float, and he follows this by disappearing inside a box. Piers likes that he has star quality. Sharon found him to be very modern. Hasselhoff thought it was very cool.

Franklin Sane is a county judge, which is good because that’s what he looks like. I’m expecting this guy to do something totally off the wall, but all he does is sing badly. Piers and Hasselhoff buzz pretty early, but Sharon lets the misery continue. Speaking as one judge to another, Piers tells him he can’t sing. He has performed in front of audiences before, such as prisoners.

8th grader Thia Megia sings I Am Changing by Jennifer Holliday. Hasselhoff says that nothing’s gonna stop her now. Sharon found her to be a great emotional singer. Piers calls her the best singer in the competition so far.

Jeffrey Johns makes an effort to sing while sitting on a giant chair. Piers and Hoff buzz him. Hasselhoff calls it the weirdest act ever. Piers calls it stupendously irritating.

The Fab Five, a group of five sisters ages 23-35 who are now apparently all housewives, do a tap dancing routine. Hoff thought they did a great job. Sharon is impressed by their energy and thought they were fab.

Kevin Skinner used to be a chicken catcher. Now he’s come to the big city of Chicago because wants to be a country singer and guitar player. I wasn’t expecting that. He’s good and gets a standing ovation. Piers says there’s a moment in every season where someone surprises everybody and blows them away. That was one of the most emotional, powerful performances he’s seen in a while. Sharon thinks he’s a lovely person and very genuine.
