American Idol Season 11 Episode 19

The judges voted out Jeremy Rosado in American Idol Season 11 Episode 18. Tonight the top 12 will perform, or at least 11 of them will. Jermaine Jones has been eliminated after they were too lazy to do spend a few bucks on a background check and have since uncovered his criminal record and outstanding warrants. Tonight’s theme is songs from the years the contestants were born (1983-1995).

Phillip Phillips
Song: Hard to Handle by The Black Crowes
Randy: After (kidney stone) surgery, sounding like that, I don’t even know what’s going on. Sound amazing.
Jennifer: So natural. Great song for you.

Jessica Sanchez
Song: Turn the Beat around by Gloria Estefan
Steven: Don’t stray too far from ballads. Rhythm was a little shady.
Jennifer: Lagged a little bit behind.
Randy: Song didn’t allow you to show your big old voice.

Heejun Han
Song: Right Here Waiting by Richard Marx
Randy: Pitchy all over the place. Felt like you were out of breath the whole time. Wrong kind of song for you.
Jennifer: Could tell you were struggling, but got really beautiful towards the end.

Elise Testone
Song: Let’s Stay Together by The Rippingtons
Jennifer: Feels good when it’s right, and that was right.
Randy: Elise is back.

Deandre Brackensick
Song: Endless Love by Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey
Jennifer: You can sing anything, but Jimmy steered you wrong. Not the right song.
Randy: Paled in comparison. Boring and very safe.

Shannon Magrane
Song: One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men
Jennifer: Terrified for you, but you did a beautiful job.
Steven: Sing your best when you don’t try so hard.

Colton Dixon
Song: Broken Heart by White Lion (a song nobody knows)
Jennifer: Colton’s a lover. You look pretty when you sing.
Steven: Wrong song for your voice and your passion.
Randy: The song didn’t matter because you performed it dope.

Erika van Pelt
Song: Heaven by Bryan Adams
Steven: Too busy all over it.
Jennifer: The arrangement left us wanting more.
Randy: 8 out of 10. Be careful not to make too much out of a great song.

Skylar Laine
Song: Love Sneakin’ up on You by Bonnie Raitt
Steven: Haven’t heard you sing a song bad yet.
Jennifer: Really killed that.

Joshua Ledet
Song: When a Man Loves a Woman by Michael Bolton
Randy: Phenomenal. Incredible on every level.
Jennifer: Best thing I’ve ever seen on American Idol.
Steven: Most beautiful performanc I’ve ever seen.

Hollie Cavanagh
Song: The Power of Love by Celine Dion
Steven: A little pitchy here and there, but beautiful.
Randy: Blew it out the box.

Randy says Joshua is safest, and Heejun is in trouble. Jennifer agrees Joshua is safest and also Hollie and Phillip, but she declines to name names who is going home. C’mon, Jennifer. Pick a name. Joshua is safest, and so are a bunch of other people, but he also won’t name names. It’s like watching Paula and Nicole.

American Idol Season 11 Episode 18

The top 13 performed in American Idol Season 11 Episode 17. Tonight the judges will listen to what America has to say and ignore it, making their own choice instead.

Hollie Cavanagh, Elise Testone, and Jessica Sanchez are first. We can safely assume Elise is in danger while the other two are safe.

Heejun Han, Colton Dixon, and Jermaine Jones are up next. Another obvious result in which Jermaine is in danger but the other two are safe.

Erika van Pelt, Shannon Magrane, and Skylar Laine are the next group. Erika and Shannon round out the bottom three for the girls.

Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Jeremy Rosado, and Deandre Brackensick are the final group of guys. Phil is safe. Jeremy once again fails to get America’s vote. Deandre is safe, which leaves Joshua in the bottom three guys.

Jermaine, Jeremy, Shannon, and Elise find themselves at the bottom. Steven asks if any of them deserve to leave. He answers Jeremy. Jermaine is safe. Shannon is also safe.

Now we head to the judges, who must decide whether to eliminate Jeremy or Elise. The most sensible pick here is Jeremy because the public is trying to send the judges a message. And so it goes. Elise is safe, and Jeremy Rosado has been eliminated.

Steven: Fit you like an Armani suit.
Jennifer: Would love to see you connect with the song more.
Randy: Didn’t love the chorus, but did love the verses.

Erika van Pelt
Song: I Believe in You and Me
Randy: Amazing voice, unbelievable tone.
Jennifer: Had goosies before you even started singing. But feel like you’re playing it a little safe.

Colton Dixon
Song: I Wonder

Jennifer: Showed your vulnerability.

Jennifer: Soul. Weird ending.

Randy: Proved you can sing any song.

Heejun Han
Song: All in Love Is Fair
Jennifer: I love you.
Randy: Not perfect but really good.

Hollie Cavanagh
Song: All the Man that I Need
Randy: Nailed it.
Jennifer: Might have a sing off between two girls in the final.
Steven: Nailing it every time.

Jeremy Rosado
Song: Ribbon in the Sky
Steven: Velvetty smooth.
Jennifer: Love to hear your interpretation of songs.
Randy: Not your best. Not believable.

Jessica Sanchez
Song: I Will Always Love You
Randy: Best vocal of the night. One of the best singers in the competition.
Jennifer: Just amazing.
Steven: You may be the one.

Phillip Phillips
Song: Superstition
Jennifer: Made it your own and killed it.
Randy: Probably the most different artist up there. Drive your own car in your own lane.

Randy calls Joshua and Jessica stand outs but refuses to answer who are in trouble. Jennifer says Shannon is in trouble. Steven is worried about Elise and Shannon. He likes Jessica and Jessica.

American Idol Season 11 Episode 16

The girls followed the boys performances earlier in the week in American Idol Season 11 Episode 15. Tonight the first eliminations take place, and then they do something else to fill in part of the rest of the unnecessarily long 2 hour show.

Chase Likens, Phillip Phillips, and Jeremy Rosado are called to center stage. Jeremy has not made the top 10. Chase is also not in the top 10. Phillip is.

Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanagh, Brielle von Hugel, and Hallie Day are next. Brielle is the first girl to get the bad news. Hallie has also been cut. Jessica and Hollie are safe.

Joshua Ledet, Heejun Han, and Adam Brock are the next trio. Here the result is clear. Adam has been eliminated. The other two are safe.

Baylie Brown, Chelsea Sorrell, Skylar Laine, and Shannon Magrane are the next group of girls. Shannon has made it. Skylar is also in the top 10. Apparently the other two have been eliminated.

Aaron Marcellus, Creighton Fraker, and Reed Grimm are the next group of guys. Aaron has been eliminated in spite of the judges giving him a standing ovation. Creighton has also been eliminated. Reed has, too.

Elise Testone, Erika van Pelt, Haley Johnsen, and Jen Hirsh are the last group of girls. Haley is out. Erika is also out. Elise takes the final spot, with Jen being eliminated.

Deandre Brackensick, Eben Francketwiz, Colton Dixon, and Jermaine Jones are the final group of guys. Deandre has been eliminated. Colton, the clear pick of the four, joins the top 10. Jermaine is the last person to join the top 10, with Eben being eliminated.

The 15 eliminated contestants now have a shot at the wild card. Each of the judges will pick one contestant from the six wild card singers.

Jen Hirsh
Song: Oh Darling by The Beatles
Randy: Showed your big old pipes.
Jennifer: You really did sing for your life.
Steven: Love somebody with a big voice.

Jeremy Rosado
Song: I Know You Won’t by Carrie Underwood
Jennifer: One of the most beautiful voices I’ve heard in a long time.
Randy: Love what you just did up there.
Steven: Always had the biggest heart.

Brielle von Hugel
Song: Something Like You by Adele
Steven: Just didn’t hear it this time.
Randy: In a little bit of trouble.

Deandre Brackensick
Song: Georgia on My Mind by Ray Charles
Randy: That’s how you put it in to try to stay in this.
Jennifer: Just feeling the fire from you.

Erika van Pelt
Song: Edge of Glory by Lady GaGa
Randy: Singing like she’s gotta have it.
Jennifer: Love somebody who can fight through the tears and still deliver.

Reed Grimm
Song: Use Me by Bill Withers
Randy: Truly unique and very different.
Steven: Love the artist in you.

A couple of really bad choices by the judges there. I just hope they don’t repeat them again.

Randy picks Erika van Pelt. Jennifer chooses Jeremy Rosado. Steven rounds out the top 13 with Deandre Brackensick. So I guess we get to hear that annoyingly excessive falsetto one last time.

American Idol Season 11 Episode 15

The top 12 boys plus 1 wild card performed in American Idol Season 11 Episode 14. Tonight the girls get their shot.

Erika van Pelt
Song: What about Love by Heart
Jennifer: Feel like you could have gone a bit further.
Randy: First time I heard this whole kind of Adele vibe.

Song: One and Only by Adele
Jennifer: First person who came out here and let loose.
Randy: One of the greatest singers in this competition this year.

Brielle von Hugel
Song: Sitting on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding
Steven: Great sense of the blues.
Jennifer: True performer.
Randy: Key was a little too low for the first half of the song, but you got in your sweet spot in the middle.

Hallie Day

Randy: First time we’ve had a rocking performing great country singer. Reba mixed with Kelly Clarkson.

Jennifer: You really do have skills. Not the perfect song.
Randy: Bit of a nightmare. Pitchy all over the place.

Shannon Magrane
Song: Go Light Your World
Randy: That’s what it’s all about.
Jennifer: Sing with such passion for a 16 year old. Gave me goosies.

Steven: Perfect voice, perfect pitch.

Elise Testone
Song: One and Only by Adele
Steven: Blew it out of the water.
Jennifer: One to watch.
Randy: Hope America gets you. One of the best voices here.
