Survivor: Worlds Apart Episode 9

Hali found herself as the next in the predictable line in Survivor: Worlds Apart Episode 8 and was eliminated.

As Dan continues to antagonize Shirin, Mike makes a deal with her. Meanwhile, Rodney continues to talk about planning to turn on his tribe, eventually, once he’s finished doing whatever Mike says.

At the reward challenge, they are divided into two teams of five, who will race across a series of obstacles in the water and then do a ring toss. Reward is a trip to the chocolate cafe. Mike and Rodney are about even. Dan and Will lack about the same amount of grace. Tyler takes a bit of a lead over Carolyn, and then Shirin ends up getting handily beaten by Jenn and lapped by Joe. But then her team makes it interesting on the ring toss. Mike, Shirin, Dan, Sierra, and Tyler win reward.

Jenn wants to give people a reason to kick her out. She has an offer for Joe. If he lets her win immunity, she’ll give him the necklace.

It’s an endurance challenge again. This time, they will balance with a block wedged between their heads and the platform above them. It would seem based on everything else that Joe is the favorite here, but he’s the first to show signs of weakness. Carolyn drops, and Will follows right behind her, then Shirin. Rodney is next to fall and immediately after that Dan falls as Jeff reminds them to be mindful of everyone else because the challenge was designed in a way that they can shake everybody else. Sierra falls next. Joe has been struggling the whole time and finally loses immunity for the first time. Mike is next. After half an hour, only two remain. Jenn has been strong throughout the challenge but finally fails as Tyler wins immunity.

Joe is the obvious target since he is now finally vulnerable, but they have the numbers to split the vote.

Shirin and Jenn have their own plans. If she and Joe vote Jenn out, which she wants, they can send her home and keep Joe in the game. So Shirin’s master plan still leaves the blue team in control with 7 people. How does that help her?

As for Joe, he makes a fake hidden immunity idol and makes a deal more or less with Mike to give it to him.

Jenn argues at Tribal Council that she doesn’t quit. No, she just lays down and dies.

Before the vote, Mike pulls out his fake hidden idol and asks Jeff to verify whether it is real. He cannot do that until it is played. Afterward, he plays it. Why? I guess the lie was not very convincing. It helps that he already has the real idol.

With 5 votes, Joe has been voted off the island. He proved to be a bigger challenge threat than tolerable, so getting rid of him only makes sense. Trusting Shirin to vote with them was pretty dangerous, though. The seemingly random Dan vote came from Jenn, who did not want to pile another one on to Joe.
