After it was announced that Brad Womack would be The Bachelor again, I opted to not bother watching the show. (Is the pool of choices really that shallow, ABC?) Having wasted the last season Brad was on, it seemed even more pointless to bother watching than usual. Sure, each The Bachelor couple always breaks up within a few months, but at least they make an effort, rather than dumping everybody and saying there’s no point in even bothering trying to date. A couple million people agreed with me, putting an end to the show’s record ratings, but the viewership was still respectable.
Not wanting to become the most hated man in America (again), this time Brad was bound and gagged to choose someone.
In the end, The Bachelor 15 winner was 24 year old (Brad is 38) hospital event planner Emily Maynard. Brad opted for her over 28 year old executive assistant Chantal O’Brien.
Although they are back together for now, Brad and Emily have already broken up, and they are not going to get married nor move in together any time soon. The clock is ticking. This will be the shortest lived relationship in the show’s history (Jason “Sorry I proposed to you, but I thought you were the other girl” Mesnick’s season notwithstanding), which in itself is saying something.
The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and even Bachelor Pad will be returning over the course of the next year on ABC.
