Katherine being back in town in The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Episode 1 did not lead to good. Damon went all morbidly crazy and proceeded to unsuccessfully grant Jeremy’s wish of becoming a vampire (by killing him). Then Katherine decided to send a message by smothering Caroline.
Caroline isn’t exactly dead, though. More undead really. At least a hospital is a suitable place for somebody who wants to get their blood fix.
Elena plans to pretend she’s just a normal girl living a normal life. That means no conversations about vampires or Damon.
Tyler says he has a tendency to go blind with rage, with no real pattern to when he loses himself. His uncle Mason has strength that’s not exactly human. Though the Lockwoods were affected by the vampire device, they were not affected by vervain, an indication that their family secret is not that they are vampires.
Going from blood bags to hospital employees, Caroline is completing her transformation quickly. The doctor says she’s good as new, and she can now head home.
Now that she’s a vampire, Caroline remembers what Damon did to her. She is not happy. More to the point, she has a message from Katherine. Game on.
Damon compels someone into picking a fight with Tyler, knowing he won’t walk away from the fight. Perhaps uncle Mason will intervene. As expected, he does, and then his eyes start glowing. When the fight is said and done, the guy has a bloody nose, then Caroline happens upon him, turning him into a snack.
Damon’s advice is to just kill Caroline. That’s how the story will end anyway. May as well just skip to the last chapter. When Damon attempts to implement his plan, Elena gets in the middle. Whatever happens, it’s on her. Seeing as everything that happens is Damon’s fault, Bonnie tries to burn him alive. She comes close before Elena now opts to save him.
Elena’s realizing that her life isn’t exactly normal. I noticed.
Mason hopes to find a family heirloom. It’s under lock and key, though, and only Tyler seems to be aware where it is.
Jeremy goes to Damon’s house to kill him. But he’s had a change of heart. What’s killing him going to do?
