Seeing as Frank quit, we were presented with a thoroughly anticlimactic final two in The Bachelorette Season 6 Episode 9: Chris Lambton and Roberto Martinez. Tonight one of them will become The Bachelorette Season 6 winner. You know, probably.
Roberto is the first to get to meet Ali’s family, her mother, father, sister, and brother. Her mother says that whatever he’s done throughout this process is what Ali needs to make her happy. Afterward, Roberto asks her father for his blessing, which he receives after saying he does love her. Then the whole family gets up to learn salsa dancing.
Chris gets the second date with the family. He’s hopeful this will have the same impact that his hometown date did. They’re quickly finding things in common, with their Massachusetts connection kicking things off. Ali’s mom says that a slowly developing relationship may well be a strong one. As with Roberto, Chris asks for permission from Ali’s father, which he receives.
Ali’s father felt that Roberto seems a little more open to moving forward than Chris is. Her brother and sister felt differently, that Chris is planning to propose in three days. Her mother thinks they both love her.
With the family out of the way, the guys get one last date. They take a jetski to some stingrays, which they think may possibly be safe. Then it starts to rain, which they take as the cue to start making out. After drying off, he gives her their first picture. Just in case she didn’t know already, he’s falling in love with her. She’s never, ever, ever felt this good about a relationship or a person.
The way Ali’s talking, I’m half expecting Chris Harrison to be on the other end of the knocking on Chris’ door. Nope. It’s Ali. She’s acting weird. Just because they like hanging out doesn’t mean it’s supposed to be. She’s in love with somebody else (like Frank was). Apparently, kissing in the rain was all it took. Wow, no need to have a rose ceremony then. This wasn’t an easy decision, and yet, it seems like it was. At least she’s not leading him on any more. After this happens, he sees a rainbow, which he takes as a sign from his mom that he’s going to be okay.
With that out of the way, I think we can pretty safely assume that Roberto will be proposing to Ali. After they find 20 minutes of filler, Roberto does indeed propose to Ali.
After the final rose, they announce that they will be moving in together in San Diego. They don’t have a date set yet for the wedding, which is a good sign. For the first time, we get to hear Ali stop saying she “gave up everything”. It goes without saying she didn’t. And now she finally realizes it.
The Bachelor will be returning for season 15. No word yet on a bachelor, but my money’s on Chris. In the meantime, Bachelor Pad premieres next week.
