Survivor: Marquesas Episode 4

The numbers game caught up to Hunter, and he was voted out in Survivor: Marquesas Episode 3.

Rather than being grateful for still being in the game, Gina says she’s surprised she’s still there and doesn’t understand why they’d vote out one of their strongest members. Cut off the head of the snake, and that solves your problem with the snake. While Hunter was a very good contributor to camp, he didn’t seem to understand that there’s more to Survivor than surviving the elements.

The other tribe is just peachy. They think of themselves as a family.

The tribes meet Jeff for… an activity… of sorts. Pick a disc at random. I smell a tribe shuffle.

Rotu: Zoe, Gabe, John, Vecepia, Rob, Sean, Robert, Tammy
Maraamu: Gina, Neleh, Kathy, Sarah, Paschal

Neleh, Vecepia, Rob, Kathy, Sean, and Paschal switch tribes. With a group of all women and Pappy, new Maraamu is going to be hurting if the challenge is anything physical. Paschal and Neleh have managed to stick together. Boston Rob’s still got his buddy Sean, but he’s left without a woman, as Sarah is going to have to fend for herself. Gina’s luck probably improved the most, since she was probably the next to go if her old tribe lost again. However, it’s not a huge step in the right direction because new Maraamu consists of 3 ex-Rotu members to 2 ex-Maraamu members. New Rotu, meanwhile, consists of 3 ex-Maraamu members compared to 5 ex-Rotu members.

The big change for the new members of Rotu is that they’re going to be expected to work more and joke less, and unlike the scenario with Hunter, they’re going to find it difficult to rally the numbers.

It takes little (no) prodding to get Gina to reveal the cracks within her old tribe. Like Frank from Africa, she’s probably just shooting herself in the foot.

Tammy’s plan: get rid of Sean and Rob first vote if they decide not to work. I don’t know. Looks to me like they’ve been working a lot.

Gina hopes that Kathy’s aggressiveness will wear on Neleh and Paschal.

Sean has no plans to be kissing butt. He tells Gabe he’s not going to overexert himself knowing he’s probably the next to go anyway, and the fact that Gabe seems to want to respond to this statement doesn’t phase him anyway because he just keeps rambling. His only hope is to just win the next couple challenges and wait for the merge. Vecepia has no intention of participating in this drama. She’s the next logical boot, but Sean’s mouth may well be his downfall.

Kathy could see Rotu backing off on the challenge and allowing Maraamu to win just so they can get rid of someone. I don’t know that it really matters because Rotu’s got the numbers on both new tribes, an unusual situation that means someone from ex-Maraamu is probably going home regardless.

The immunity challenge is to unscramble a woven tapestry. Sean, John, and Rob sit out for Rotu. Rotu looks like they’re getting it, but Maraamu is just standing around looking confused. Working together well, Rotu wins immunity.

It’s safe to say that Sarah’s gone. Without Rob to protect her, it was only a matter of time, and she’s just not blending with anyone on her tribe. Her only hope is that Kathy being overbearing will be her undoing, but it just wouldn’t be a wise move to give up the numbers.

By a unanimous vote, Sarah has been voted off the island. If not for the shuffle, she probably could have gotten pretty far despite her limited skill set.
