Melissa and Ade were eliminated in So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 Episode 21, and tonight the final four perform.
Tonight everybody will be dancing with everybody else. Adam Shankman joins the judges. In case you missed it the first 12 times, there are 3000 fans in the audience for tonight’s show.
The top 4 dancers start off dancing to a Wade & Amanda Robson routine where the guys are jocks hitting on cheerleaders who turn out to be more than they can handle. The judges offer no feedback, presumably realizing it’s pointless to do so.
Jeanine Mason & Evan Kasprzak
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Routine: A man is trying to keep his girl, who’s over him and beating him up.
Song: Heartbreaker by MSTRKRFT featuring John Legend
Adam: Really great. Never saw Jeanine coming or Evan in the top 4.
Mary: Good partnership. Jeanine stood out a little bit more. Evan held his own.
Nigel: Jeanine’s got the strength to be able to do this. Evan has to take over now.
Brandon Bryant
Song: Dies Irae by Karl Jenkins
Adam: That is competing. Threw that down on the floor. Very take no prisoners kind of a thing.
Mary: Gave me goose bumps. Athletic, dynamic, defy gravity. Born to dance.
Nigel: Brandon is amazing. Just wiped out the opposition.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-01
Kayla Rodomski & Brandon Bryant
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Bye Bye Love from the All That Jazz soundtrack
Adam: That was so good. Always saw you two ending up here. Just like heaven. Nothing Kayla can’t do. Brandon was an animal out there.
Mary: Rock stars. Frontrunners from the beginning. Never disappoint.
Nigel: Superb. Work well together. Filled the stage. The show is beginning now.
Jeanine Mason
Song: Por Una Cabeza by The Tango Project
Adam: Are you kidding? Did you know you were going to be able to do that? Just killed it.
Mary: Growing every time. That was the best thing you have done on the show.
Nigel: You’re in the final two.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-02
Evan Kasprzak & Brandon Bryant
Style: Pop Jazz
Choreographer: Laurieann Gibson
Routine: Battle for the top spot.
Song: Nasty by Janet Jackson
Adam: Evan got a little dusted on that one. Couldn’t get rid of the natural sweetness. Brandon got dirty and won the battle.
Mary: Brandon did a little bit better job.
Nigel: Mr. nice guy in nasty boys doesn’t sit comfortable. On top of that, Brandon also outdanced Evan.
Kayla Rodomski & Jeanine Mason
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Mia Michaels
Song: The Four Sections: IV. Full Orchestra by Steve Reich
Adam: Like watching two thoroughbreds racing. Absolutely beautiful.
Mary: Laid your heart and soul out there. Never gonna forget it.
Nigel: Jeanine has peaked at the right time.
Evan Kasprzak
Song: The Best is Yet to Come by Michael Buble
Adam: Like a variation on the audition piece. Either gonna make people crazy or be like “I’ve seen that.”
Nigel: Haven’t grown as much as I would like. Not as strong as Brandon and Jeanine.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-03
Evan Kasprzak & Kayla Rodomski
Style: Jive
Choreographers: Tony Meredith & Melanie Lapatin
Song: T.R.O.U.B.L.E. by Travis Tritt
Adam: Not sure that was a finale level routine. Very strong showing for Evan.
Mary: Evan’s still not strong in doing the jive. Everything was kind of safe. Kayla stole the show.
Nigel: Where has Kayla’s personality been all this season? Both did very well together.
Kayla Rodomski
Song: Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by Eurythmics
Adam: The solo was fine but didn’t really show anything. However, throughout the season, Kayla has joined the special club of being among the best dancers ever on this show.
Mary: Gifted. Exquisite. Loved the solo.
Nigel: Justly deserves the opportunity to be voted as America’s favorite dancer.
Number: 1-888-TEMPO-04
Jeanine Mason & Brandon Bryant
Style: Paso Doble
Choreographer: Louis van Amstel
Song: Tesujin from The Matrix Revolutions soundtrack
Adam: Filled out every single in between with intensity and movement. Killer.
Mary: Couldn’t be more spot on.
Nigel: Edging the other two out.
Who’s going to win?
Nigel’s the only one to man up. The winner will be Brandon or Jeanine.
