This weeks episode of Aamazing Race 10 stars off as usual, with a brief recap of what went down in last weeks Amazing Race 10 episode.
Peter & Sarah were the first team to finish the last leg of the race, as such, they were the first to head out on this leg. They both leave at 6:54am and head for Hanoi, Vietnam where they will search for the “Hanoi Hilton” Prison.
All teams get $0 to start this leg of the race and will be left to rely on whatever money they have left over from previous legs. They are also not allowed to beg or sell anything to make more money. This will certainly prove to be a lot harder for some teams than others.
In order to get to Hanoi, Vietnam via Mongolia all teams must go to the Ghengis Chan hotel where they will buy plane tickets to Vietnam. Big downer for the teams in the lead, the travel agent doesn’t open until 9:00am, at which time almost all the teams have arrived and are battling it out for a spot with one of four vendors, which also doesn’t matter, since everyone gets on the same flight.
Dustin & Kandice cut the line on Tom & Terry and the boys whine and cry like 3 year olds for a few mins before making some snarky comments, giving up and waiting back in line.
All the teams get booked on the 1:00pm flight to Beijing, where they will connect to Hanoi, Vietnam.
Duke & Lauren are falling behind at the airport because, for some stupid reason, Duke decided he wanted to wait for a lady he met on the plane to get help finding where they need to go. Big mistake, as waiting for her to get back to the cab uses up precious time and, to top it off, she wants to be taken to her brothers house before they head to where they need to go. The kicker, her brothers house is 30mins out of the way and they’re no going to have enough money to pay the cab driver. HA! Idiots.
All teams eventually end up arriving at the Hanoi Prison, which doesn’t open until 8:00am, giving every team time to catch back up again. Laaaame!Once the prison opens the goal for all teams is to find John McCain’s flight suit somewhere in the prison, as it was this prison that John McCain spent 5 years in as a POW during the Vietnam War.
Tom & Terry some how manage to find the flight suit before everyone else, where they are closely followed by the remaining teams.
Erwin & Godwin get their next clue and stop for a moment of silence to pay their respects to all the people involved in the Vietnam War and all the people currently fighting in wars. Good on them. Good kharma will come their way.
The next stop on this leg of Amazing Race 10 is the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Most teams are able to take cabs, except Duke & Lauren who have no cash left and were lucky enough that their last cab driver didn’t demand the full price and let them go for the $11 they had. As such, they are forced to run the 1km or more distance to the Old Quarter.
The market in Hanoi’s Old Quarter see’s the first Road Block for this leg of the race. All teams must hop on a bike loaded with flowers and ride around the market trying to sell flowers. Each team must earn $80,000 in Vietnamese money before being given the next clue.
The first team to complete the Road Block is Peter & Sarah. With the next clue in hand they have to take the public bus to a Budhist Temple in Vac Village.
Peter & Sarah manage to find the bus station quite quickly but end up getting on the wrong bus and are forced to get off the bus and find another bus stop. Sitting around waiting for the next bus to come burns a lot of their time and drops them to last place.
David of the Kentucky Team keeps talking about how his dad served in the Vietnam war and how he only tells a few stories cause he doesn’t like to tell others. It’s really got him weirded out to be in Vietnam.
Erwin & Godwin are the first team to arrive at Vac, where they must complete a Detour:
Fuel:
- Throw wet coal and sand into a machine and compress the sand and coal into bricks.
- Repeat 30 times over, and make sure the bricks are the right height!
Fowl:
- Build a traditional bird cage
Erwin & Godwin made a bunch of bricks but found out they were all to small and were forced to redo each and every one of them. This doesn’t manage to slow their lead down though, as they are the first to finish the Detour.
Erwin & Gowdin make a short run out into some rice patties to find the pit stop marker and bam! They’re team #1. Yay! For being team #1, they both win a home entertainment center.
Tom & Terry managed to get to the pit stop spot in 2nd place, but wait! They cheated. They piggie backed on motorcycles earlier in the leg of the race and that is against Amazing Race 10 rules. As a result, Tom & Terry are forced to step to the side of the pit stop mat and wait 30 mins as a penalty. Rough!
The final rankings for this leg of the Amazing Race 10 were:

Duke & Lauren come in last and are the team eliminated from this leg of the Amazing Race 10. I almost feel sorry for them, but in the end, it was Duke’s stupid decision to wait for the girl at the airport that ended up screwing them for time in the end. Running out of cash and not being able to afford a cab didn’t help much either.
