Tonight’s episode of The Amazing Race 10 starts off as usual, with a brief recap of the last episode, and then we get into the meat of this episode.
All teams start off based on the time they finished the last leg of the race. That means the former models Tyler & James are the first time to head out at 9:04pm. The first leg of the trip sees all teams getting to a bus stop as quick as possible to throw their names on a list for either the 12:00am or 2:00am bus to the capital city of outer Mongolia, where all teams will take in a show at a local temple.
The first five teams to the bus depot get on the 12:00am bus and the second five are left sitting around waiting for the 2:00am bus.
As the teams are sitting around waiting for their bus’ the kentucky team of David & Mary pass the time by socializing with the asians and gays sice they aren’t used to being around or even seeing either. Hooray back-woods Kentucky team! Luckily they don’t seem to be racist or homophobic and actually like the asians and gays, yay!
Peter & Sarah decided to pass the time by trying to get money out of the locals who are infatuated with Sarah’s prostetic leg, alas, they fail miserably and get nothing for their efforts.
The first batch of teams arrive at the Temple, which offers shows every 10 mins. Each team must enter the temple, watch the show and then grab the next bit of info from one of the performers.
The next leg of the race sees all the teams hopping in some old Russian military jeeps and driving 43 miles to Terejl.On the trip to Terejl, Tyler & James’ jeep blows a tired and when they try to replace the tire the jack turns out to be broken, or so they think at least. As they get passed by a few teams a bystander stops to help and them shows them that their jack wasn’t broken, they were just using it wrong. Doh!
Peter & Sarah are the first to reach Terejl where they have to hop on some little horsies and ride a short distance to the next challenge.
Over to David & Mary we go, who manage to get their jeep stuck in a big mud pit on the way to Terejl. The team is forced to wait as a second car comes for them. Lots of time lost here.
Back to the horsies where Kim is riding like a mad-woman, as her mini-horse loses it a bit and runs her straight into a tree branch. Fwap! On her ass she goes. The best part of the whole thing is that Rob didn’t even get off his horse to help her or see if she was okay… now that’s love people.
As Kim is waiting to have her horse brought back to her, one of the girls from either the cheerleaders or mrs’ america’s teams (I forget which) get’s thrown from her horse and dragged for a little bit. The little horsies are really hanging a beating on the girls today.
Peter and Sarah are the first to reach the Detour. In this detour, the teams have two options to choose from:
Take it Down:
- disassemble a mongolian nomads hut
- fold all the parts up properly and binde them with straps
- load all the parts onto a camel’s back and secure everything properly so the camel stands and nothing falls off.
Fill It Up:
- load some buckets onto a cart lead by an ox (can’t remember the real name of the animal)
- lead the ox a stream
- unload the buckets and fill them with water from the stream
- load the buckets on the cart and drive the oxe back to the start point
- pour the water buckets out into a well kind of thing
- repeat until the mongolia nomad says the well is full
Peter & Sarah start off with the Take it Down challenge but can’t figure out how to do the knots properly. They end up giving up and head to the Fill it Up challenge, where their luck is just as bad. Their ox runs away not only once, but twice and they are forced to give up and go back to the Take it Down challenge again. Talk about shitty luck.
Dustin & Kandice take the Fill it Up challenge and are the first team to finish. One big problem though. They have to take their mini-horsies back to where they started and they can’t ride the horses without their mongolian helmets, and you guessed it, one of the girls lost hers. *cue sad sack music*
Once the teams finish the Detour and return to the start they are off on their next leg of the race, which will take them to the Hotel Mangolia.
On the way to the hotel, Erwin & Godwin’s car breaks down and they’re dead in the water until a local offers some help and manages to get the heap started again.
Kellie & Jamie and Lyn & Karlyn aren’t quite as lucky, as they couldn’t even get their cars started to leave the detour. Another local comes to the aid of Kellie & Jamie and manages to get them going on their way. It takes a little while, but someone comes to help Lyn & Karlyn as well and they go on their merry way.
Road Block!
This episodes road block was actually pretty cool. Each team had to light an arrow on fire and shoot it roughly 140 yards, hitting a target and igniting a fire. A cool challenge, but a hard one for anyone without enough strength to use a bow and arrow.
Peter & Sarah are the first to show up and Peter gives it a go, hitting the target and igniting a fire on his first shot! That was pretty damn impressive. As the rest of the teams filtered in the ranking came out:

Kelly & Jamie are the third team to be eliminated from The Amazing Race 10. Good try girls, but you just didn’t have what it takes. You probably shouldn’t have pullled a U-Turn on that road eh? If they would have kept going straight they would have beat Lyn & Karlyn to the Road Block and may have been able to beat them in the challenge.
