The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 20

Having gone crazy for human blood in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 19, Stefan found himself caged up by Elena and Damon.

It’s so hard to see him locked up like this, which she could have avoided by not locking him up in the first place.

Stefan is remembering when he and his brother were shot as Katherine was dragged away. Lucky thing he’s wearing his invincibility ring. There’s a catch. When he died, he had Katherine’s blood in his system, since she’s been compelling him to drink it for weeks. Damon, too, has been drinking, albeit willingly. They aren’t vampires yet, but they will be soon enough if they complete the transition by feeding.

Anna’s decided to go through the torture of high school in order to hang out with Jeremy. Good luck with that.

Alaric has been doing some digging on Uncle John. John has been receiving calls from someone, who Alaric believes is Isobel. Sharing this information with Damon, they both decide they don’t trust each other. Alaric tried to kill Damon. To be fair, Damon did kill Alaric. Nonetheless, they’re going to go together to track down Isobel.

John’s question for Elena: what does she think her mother would say if she knew she were dating a vampire?

Stefan just wants it to end, so he doesn’t intend to survive.

Pearl meets John, who plans to change her mind about giving him the device… with his charm.

Alaric would like to not kill anyone tonight, although if that were true he wouldn’t have brought Damon along. Finding the blood in the fridge, they know they have company, a vampire named Henry who was in the tomb.

Elena opts to not be afraid that Stefan could break through the bars and kill her. Taking it a step further, she unlocks the cell, daring him to do his worst if he pleases.

John has been helping Henry out. Henry doesn’t know an Isobel, but he helps keep an eye on the others from the tomb. When Henry gets a call from John, Damon grabs the phone. Is he going to answer that? Nope, they’re going to kill Henry.

John’s idea of charm is to pretend that Jonathan loved Pearl, then tell her that he hated her and wanted to be the one to drive a stake to her heart. So much for the pleasantries. She gave the device to Damon. With that, may John rot in Hell.

Stefan’s father was there to see his sons get shot. He pulled the trigger himself. Well, Stefan had decided to not complete the transition and just die, until his father’s blood started spilling when he tried to kill him for a second time.

Alaric doesn’t want to waste any more of his life searching for answers that he really doesn’t want.

Pearl has decided to leave. Too much history. It’s Anna’s decision if she wants to stick around for the boy.

Elena blames Damon for making it his life’s mission to make Stefan’s life miserable.

Back to the past, Stefan has brought his brother a present, a girl to feed on so he, too, can complete his transition. After hearing this story, Elena goes downstairs, where she discovers Stefan is now missing.

Waiting for Jeremy when he wakes up, Anna’s just there to say goodbye.

Emily sensed that Stefan’s heart is pure, even in death. That will be his curse.

For all the drama to the contrary, the conclusion is obvious. Stefan has decided he’s got an unlife to live.

Harper is going with Pearl, or at least he would be if she weren’t just shot through the heart while exiting her house. Anna returns home to find both of them on the ground.

Damon hated Stefan, and he still does. Not because he forced him to turn. Rather, because Katherine turned him, too. It was just supposed to be Damon.

Sitting at the bar, Alaric turns around. There’s Isobel.

Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 11

In one of the most awesome moves ever, Parvati blindsided the whole cast in Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Episode 10 when she gave away both of her hidden immunity idols to keep her tribe safe and eliminate the not so bright giving your idol away to the other tribe JT.

Russell considers Parvati not telling him about the idol to be a lie. He’s digging his own grave if he doesn’t get over himself. Parvati finds Russell’s panic to be amusing.

The Heroes were too stupid to listen to Rupert in the first place. Now his only hope is to try to get Sandra to open that door they slammed in her face once already.

Not trusting Sandra, Russell wants Candice to jump over to the Villains. A good choice. Unlike the other Heroes who talk about loyalty and integrity and all those other things that are just plain lies in a game of Survivor, we’ve seen Candice flip before to get away from a tribe that she hated (and vice versa).

The reward challenge is Survivor shuffleboard. Reward is to go to the home of Robert Louis Stevenson, which is now a museum, for a screening of the movie Treasure Island and a night’s stay. Candice, Parvati, and Jerri are the black team. Rupert, Russell, and Sandra are the red team. Colby, Danielle, and Amanda are the blue team. Candice starts things off. Russell manages to beat her mark. Jerri knocks him closer. Rupert gets the red team closer still. Danielle knocks Rupert out of the way, but that still gives red the lead. With the final shot of the game, Colby lands right on the X to win the reward for the blue team.

A rather boring trio to be at the reward. No chance these guys are going to make a move to bond with Danielle. One thing they are all focused on, though, is the fact that they assume a hidden immunity idol has been replanted. Danielle finds it in the bowl of popcorn. Amanda acts suspiciously, wanting Danielle to move over on the bed. When Danielle doesn’t move over, Amanda spots the clue on the ground and takes it. Chick fight ensues. Colby thinks it would only be fair that Amanda give the clue back. So much for keeping it a secret.

Danielle shares the clue with the other Villains. Russell finds the idol, and he has no plans of letting his tribe know he’s got it because he is the king. He does, however, tell Candice, promising her final three.

Sandra’s talking to Colby. If she makes a move, that would still be 5-4, with her at the bottom regardless, in either scenario hoping to make a climb up that ladder. They have decided that Danielle has the idol, but that it doesn’t matter since she won’t think she’s in danger. Russell warns her that she can flip if she really wants, but they have 6 votes currently. Whatever the case, Sandra has to decide how desperate she is to get rid of Russell.

For the immunity challenge, each person will have 150 wooden tiles that they will use to build a house of cards 10 feet tall. Jerri, Russell, Danielle, and Colby are building a nice house of cards. Colby’s comes tumbling down. Jerri’s got the lead at 6 feet, with Russell at 5 feet and Danielle at 4. Sandra’s next to collapse. Jerri and Russell are approaching 8 feet with caution. Jerri hits 9 feet first. Nobody else is close to her and Russell, and many of them are just watching the show. In a close finish, Jerri wins immunity, her first ever.

Sandra will be voting for Russell. She’s been wanting to get rid of him for 30 days and is doing it for Boston Rob, Tyson, Courtney, and even Coach, who she doesn’t care about.

Russell wants to get rid of Amanda because she’s an aggressive strategic player.

Candice is aware that either move she makes could be the winning of the end. At least she’s not with a bunch of babies like on Cook Islands where they sent her to Exile Island over and over and over again to seek revenge.

In true Russell style, he marches right up to Sandra to confront her once he hears from Candice that he’s the target, telling her that Candice told him the plan. Now Sandra’s worried that they’re hanging her out to dry.

Based on, well, something entirely unclear, they are now going to vote for Parvati instead. With Candice sitting right next to him, Colby says that, if this doesn’t work, it’s her fault.

Candice and Sandra are now attempting to come to some sort of unified conclusion so that either way they are both still in the majority.

Russell will be playing his idol.

With 6 votes, Amanda has been voted off the island, the first time she’s had her torch snuffed in three seasons. It sure would have made things interesting if Sandra flipped, but for sheer stupidity alone, the Heroes deserve to be getting picked off.

American Idol Season 9 Episode 34

Idol gave back and back and back some more in American Idol Season 9 Episode 33, finally concluding with the elimination of Tim Urban 25 minutes too late. Tonight the top 6 perform Shania Twain songs with Shania herself.

Lee DeWyze
Song: You’re Still the One
Randy: Pretty good job.
Ellen: Better than pretty good. Always sounds like your own version.
Kara: The sound of your voice on every song makes it sound so relevant.
Simon: Perfect song for you. Hesitant start with some weird faces.

Michael Lynche
Song: It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing
Randy: Really in the zone of who you are.
Ellen: Felt like Luther Vandross.
Kara: Always feel the connection from you. Changed enough to put your mark on it.
Simon: Spot on analogy from Ellen. A little bit wet. Like you’re in a musical acting out the words. A little bit girly.

Casey James
Song: Don’t
Randy: One of the best Casey James performances ever.
Ellen: Sang that like that’s really where you belong. Your best performance.
Kara: Didn’t hide or cover it up with the guitar. Vulnerable and raw.
Simon: Last week was a much needed wake up call for you. Your best performance.

Crystal Bowersox
Song: No One Needs to Know
Randy: Not my favorite performance but still love you.
Ellen: Nothing you can’t do. Not my favorite performance of yours either.
Kara: Kind of impossible for you not to be good.
Simon: Don’t like Crystal this week. Like something in a coffee shop, where they hire a band to sing to you, but you don’t want them to.

Aaron Kelly
Song: You Gotta Wait
Randy: This is your land.
Ellen: Everybody is doing well. Can’t get over the fact you’re 16. Or 17.
Kara: Like you really felt those words.
Simon: The last two or three weeks you’ve really struggled. However, tonight, you were like a different artist.

Siobhan Magnus
Song: Any Man of Mine
Randy: Loved it.
Ellen: Good way to end the show.
Kara: Guess who’s back.
Simon: Really liked that song. Screaming at the end was almost like you were giving birth.

The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 15

With the only vote, Koli voted Victoria out in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 14.

This week they’re going to train with some of the most unfit people in the country. According to Men’s Health magazine, Texas is home to 5 of the 10 fattest cities in America. Everything is bigger in Texas, even the people. The contestants will be going to radio stations and inviting people to join them in a 5k run at the Cotton Bowl.

Each contestant is given a group of people to lead through the race, one small step toward reducing Texas’ $10 billion annual obesity spending.

Bob heads to 24 Hour Fitness to workout with some folks there.

The three people without partners have a theory. They need to stick together. It’s all about the numbers, and they’re down in numbers, with their only hope being that yellow and/or grey are all below the yellow line. They’ve had opportunities to prevent this fate, but failed to act on them.

Alison greets them at the Texas fair. Sometimes you gotta grab the bull by the horns. They won’t have to deal with the great big longhorn. Rather, they will have to catch all the little calves. To win, they have to herd more cattle into their pen than anyone else. Reward is immunity. Sunshine and O’Neal join together to win immunity for O’Neal. Daris gets the first score. Like the yellow team, Sam and Koli are working together so Koli can win immunity. This is precisely why the three singles have to watch their backs. Koli takes the lead at 3. O’Neal keeps falling on the ground, which Sunshine wishes he would not do. Daris may be on his own, but he’s going to see if he can keep pace with the duos. When Daris gets to around 5 and is neck and neck with the others, Michael, hovering at 0, decides to help him out. With 20 seconds left, everybody is tied at 6. With seconds left, grey team wins immunity for Koli.

Jillian meets with Abby from season 8. She heads to a high school to talk to kids, warning them of things like the evils of electronic devices (like the TV they’re watching The Biggest Loser on). During this, one overweight girl gets up to discuss how she doesn’t believe she can be what she wants to be, which Jillian takes as an opportunity to inspire her to make an effort to change.

As O’Neal and Sunshine go to O’Neal’s brother’s funeral, life goes on at the ranch. The others head into the last chance workout for a beating.

Koli: 259 pounds (-1, 0.38%, immune and taking it easy)
Sam: 240 pounds (-6, 2.44%)
Sunshine: 187 pounds (-4, 2.09%)
O’Neal: 265 pounds (-5, 1.85%)
Michael: 343 pounds (-15, 4.19%)
Daris: 214 pounds (-5, 2.28%)
Ashley: 248 pounds (-6, 2.36%)

That puts father and daughter Sunshine and O’Neal below the yellow line. Strategically, the choice is a toss up, although neither is likely to win. Does the father fall on the sword for his daughter, or does the person who needs to be there more stick around? He asks for everybody to vote for him.

Votes
Ashley: O’Neal
Sam: O’Neal
Koli: O’Neal

Respecting his wishes, everybody votes to send O’Neal home. With 3 votes, O’Neal is not The Biggest Loser. From his starting weight of 389 pounds, O’Neal is now down to 250 pounds and is able to put on his own shoes, walk around at work, and be held by his wife on their motorcycle.

The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 7

Despite the fact that the women are perhaps the worst team ever, the men lost again in The Celebrity Apprentice 3 Episode 6. With this loss, project manager Bill Goldberg was sent home.

Sharon’s feeling like she doesn’t want to play any more, and she doesn’t like the vibe from her team.

Melania Trump and their son Barron are there with Donald. Please don’t tell me they’re going to let this kid take a seat at Trump’s side in the boardroom.

RockSolid has hit rock bottom. Curtis moves over to Tenacity. Maria and Sharon move to RockSolid. This is a relief to Sharon.

Apparently, the lesson in having Barron there playing golf (which technically is a sport) is to get people physical and not just mental. The task is to create and run a workout class at 24 Hour Fitness, which will donate $24,000 for the best workout. This is a fundraising task, so they will need to tap their contacts for money. Somebody must be there to take the class for their donors, or the donations will not count.

Sharon volunteers for RockSolid because she hears it’s a fundraiser. Holly wants to be the PM beause she hasn’t won yet.

Cyndi will be bailing on the task because she has a previous commitment. Again. That’ll even the odds at 3 against 3, more or less. Although she is gone, Holly tasks her with raising $30,000 while she’s away. Either she’ll contribute big, or Holly will have an excuse for wanting her fired (again/still).

Curtis takes over right when Tenacity gets into the room.

Both teams are happy teams, something we have not seen so far this season, although that won’t stop Holly and Summer from ganging up on Cyndi to the extent they are able.

Bret suggests a theme of sweating like a rock star. Then they go off track and get perverted.

Curtis suggests focusing on guns and buns. He’ll go with arms, while Summer focuses on the butt. Holly’s focus will be fundraising.

RockSolid has a goal to just make it fun. They don’t expect to have or need a professional level training experience. Although they go to meet with the trainer from 24 Hour Fitness, they pretty much just ignore her.

The graphic designer shows up while Holly is making calls. Holly tries to call Summer and hears a phone ringing on the table. That’s not good. She’s unable to get in touch with Curtis either. While she waits for them to show up, Holly rambles pointlessly, until Curtis gets back and sets things on the right track.

As a souvenir of their experience, the RockSolid class participants will be able to take away a laminated backstage VIP pass. A smart idea to go along with their misguided jokes, but they finally put the stuff about thrusting and gynecology behind to get real advertising.

Cyndi’s making an effort, but she has no idea what time or where she’s sending anybody.

Sharon assigns Bret to the task of getting bodies to stand in for those who will be donating.

Ozzy happens to be going to an event with the WWE that night, which Sharon hopes will net the money their team needs. They seem to be putting all their eggs in one basket.

When Bret goes to pick up the marketing materials from the graphic designer, he realizes he’s made some spelling/grammar mistakes. Oh well. He’s willing to live with those errors.

Summer feels like the weak link for her team’s fundraising. She doesn’t have the connections, and she doesn’t like asking for money anyway.

Maria’s demonstrating the routine to Bret, who mostly just wants to stare at Maria’s butt.

Summer and Curtis got off track to fundraise, rather than doing their assigned tasks. While it was a necessary evil, the amount of delegation Holly has done is putting them in a tough spot. They’d like Holly to do the music for them… if only Summer didn’t have the CD with her in her bag. They’ll have to return to Holly through NYC traffic.

Holly keeps plugging away at the fundraising, but she doesn’t have any illusion she can actually beat Sharon at this task.

For her part, Sharon has received $30,000 from the WWE. It could be a problem if that’s all she has up her sleeve, but her final target is $100,000.

The next day, Cyndi is back, and Holly actually has some non-negative things to say about her for a change.

Ivanka thinks RockSolid seems to be working together much better and are having a lot of fun. But this could all still end up as a total disaster.

When they left last night, they were unable to get back to the gym, so Curtis and Summer are in a mad dash to finalize their workout the following morning. They realize that they’ve got nobody for their first session, so Summer wanders around the gym and hopes to find some people, sending Cyndi to the PA to make an announcement.

Upon arrival, Holly’s still in fundraising mode. This is her main concern. Whatever else is going on around her is not her problem.

Summer starts off her first class with two people, but things improve as the day goes on. On the other side, Bret’s got plenty of people lined up and waiting.

Tenacity has a good fundamental workout, and they are able to connect to the people in the class on an individual basis.

RockSolid has a very fun class, although some of their thrusting and other moves are a little… questionable.

With time running out, Holly has a $50,000 donation from Ron Burkle that could make or break them. She’s waiting for a fax from the donor, who’s trying to find a way to make that big a donation. With about a minute left, the fax comes through.

Sharon has nothing but glowing compliments for her team. Holly, also, was thoroughly impressed with the mixed up team. But she doesn’t think they won.

If her team lost, Holly does not have an answer to who should leave, although she does think she was the star. She was inspired by her team for going to bat for her.

Holly believes based on the VIP pass that RockSolid won the $24,000. In turn, Sharon thinks that it went to Tenacity because they know how to do a professional workout.

Because the goal was an original celebrity workout and they not only had a good workout but one that was innovative, RockSolid won the vote from the 24 Hour Fitness judges. Granted, they’re gonna have to tweak it and take out some of the more sexual moves in order to be able to actually use it.

In total, including the $24,000, RockSolid raised $131,803. Tenacity managed to raise $206,090. Those two figures combined, plus Maria’s $10,000 free throw money, gives Holly $347,893 for her charity, the HollyRod Foundation.

Trump wants to know from Cyndi who should be fired like a dog. She doesn’t have an answer. Curtis wouldn’t fire Bret. Holly offers her opinion without being asked: Sharon said the other night she wants to go home. However, Holly would fire the person who raised the least money, which turns out to be Bret.

This brings us to the flaw in RockSolid’s strategy. Sharon took it upon herself to raise the money, whereas the other team all pitched in to some extent. Of course, in each case, everybody wished they had been allowed to make more of an effort at this particular part of the task.

Sharon says it was her miss, so with that said, it’s not fair for Bret or Maria to go. As we approach the end, someone with those kind of fundraising funds will prove more successful on the final tasks.

While Sharon was willing to fall on the sword for her team, in an interesting twist, nobody will be fired because everybody did such a great job. Certainly not an expected outcome, but I’d rather have that than just firing people just for the sake of firing them.

Holly has decided to donate to Sharon’s charity, the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program.

The Amazing Race 16 Episode 10

After they were U-turned by Brent & Caite for personal reasons, Carol & Brandy were eliminated in The Amazing Race 16 Episode 9.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Dan & Jordan – 4:47PM
Second: Brent & Caite – 6:18PM
Third: Jet & Cord – 7:04PM
Fourth: Louie & Michael – 7:35PM

As proud as Brent & Caite may be of their decision to seek revenge on Carol & Brandy, it wasn’t a very smart decision. There are stronger competitors.

Teams will fly more than 2300 miles to Shanghai, China. When they land, they will take a taxi to the village of Zhujiajiao, known as the Venice of China. The first flight is just after midnight, so everybody should be able to get on it.

Louie & Michael get a cab driver who doesn’t speak any English. Dan & Jordan suffer the same fate, and neither cab driver knows where he’s going. The other two teams luck out. Eventually, the two lost teams run into someone who speaks English, which allows them to get to their destination.

The road block is to master the art of making noodles by hand. They’ll have to turn a mound of dough into 1000 grams of noodles. There they are also greeted by He Pingping, the world’s shortest man.

Road block (in order of arrival): Caite, Jet, Jordan, Louie

Caite’s struggling from the start, and she would like Brent to shut up. Jet immediately gets it right. Louie used to do this when he was growing up, but he has more difficulty than that experience would suggest. For all of Brent’s complaining, Caite completes the challenge in second place. Jordan’s bringing up the rear, at which time much whining ensues, but Dan gives him a hug and tells him he’s doing great.

Shanghai’s Fashion District is the next stop. They will go inside the fashion house and work together to find all the correct pieces of clothing for a model. The cowboys are as clueless as could be expected, but they get it right on their second try. The models find this task a lot easier and get it right on the first try. And then it’s the cops’ turn to be completely out of place. When Jordan comes walking in, he’s as comfortable as Caite was. Both teams are incorrect on their first guess. Louie & Michael then get their second try wrong. Both teams have their models switch stockings, which allows both teams to be right.

From there, teams will head to Hongkou Football Stadium. The second road block for this leg of the race (a race first) is to assemble a giant puzzle using a small picture for reference. They will hand the 96 cards to fans in the stands. If the puzzle has been assembled correctly, it will reveal a seat number where they will find their next clue. Whoever did not do the first road block must do this second one. Since they’re doing this outdoors, if the wind picks up, their pieces will blow away, and there’s really nothing they can do about it unless they know to expect it. Well, this is stupid.

Road block (in order of arrival): Cord, Brent, Michael, Dan

The trailing two teams manage to catch up to the others when Brent’s and Cord’s puzzles blow across the field. Cord says that throwing a fit won’t help matters any. Brent, however, opts to throw a fit. Keeping his cool, Cord solves the puzzle correctly, while Brent stands there yelling at his puzzle pieces as if they’re going to listen to him. When the first two teams leave, that puts the remaining two teams back where they’ve been since the beginning of the leg: a battle for last place.

The pit stop for this leg of the race is the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum.

First: Jet & Cord (win a trip to Alaska)
Second: Brent & Caite
Third: Dan & Jordan
Non-eliminated: Louie & Michael

Predictably, Louie & Michael have been non-eliminated. It appears that they have a pretty lengthy gap to make up, and they will also have to complete a speed bump on the next leg.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 19

As much as he would try to fight it, Stefan was unable to resist his urge for blood in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 18. The brothers also found out there was another ring, which belongs to Elena’s creepy Uncle John.

Unlike before when he was opposed to the idea, Stefan’s now got himself a trunk full of blood. The hospital inventory records were altered, although the guy who did it did not remember altering them.

Anna stops by to apologize to Damon for nearly getting his brother killed. The other vampires are all gone. It’s just her, her mother, and Harper. With that information, Damon now knows who the blood bank culprit is.

The girls signed up for Miss Mystic Falls a while back. Elena and Caroline have both made the cut.

John is seeking an invention, which can now be retrieved since the vampires are free. Does the name Pearl ring a bell to Damon? Not convinced John can help him, Damon goes to Anna. Whatever this invention is, he doesn’t want John to have it.

Jonathan Gilbert left behind even more journals, which are locked away. He was writing all his life.

Damon warns Elena that Stefan’s drinking human blood. Because he’s spent all this time fighting it rather than learning to control it, he’s unstable at best.

With Stefan off going insane, Damon is Elena’s only choice to fill in for the dance that she and Stefan had learned. Could be worse. While they’re doing that, Stefan’s making a decision, a decision that he will drink human blood straight from the source. The chick he’s with totally doesn’t mind that he’s trying to kill her because he told her not to be afraid. So now he wants her to run and be afraid. Be very afraid.

After Caroline is crowned Miss Mystic Falls, they realize that Amber is missing. The screaming may lead someone to them. That someone is luckily Damon, Bonnie, and Elena. At least the authorities don’t arrive until after the bite mark evidence is gone.

John has learned some useful information. Jeremy’s friend Anna has a mother named Pearl. Speaking of, they meet with Damon to discuss what Pearl stole. Now it’s his, though he’ll need to figure out what it is on his own. They’d like to stay in town, and this offering is an apology.

Stefan’s gonna be okay. Once Elena and Damon lock him up anyway.
