The Bachelor Season 14 Episode 6

Only the required number of girls went home in The Bachelor Season 14 Episode 5, as Jake sent Corrie home. Tonight, Jake will be going to all of the girls’ homes.

First up is Gia’s hometown of New York. They go on a boat and take pictures of various landmarks of the city. Jake brings up that Gia never talks about her previous relationships. Her one serious boyfriend did bad things like cheating on her with all of her friends. I sure hope she’s gotten a new set of friends. They go to dinner with her mother, stepfather, stepbrother, and half brother. The family is full of paraonia that she’ll get hurt again. Her mom thinks he’s got love for her, although Gia remains worried that he’s just doing the same things with everyone else as he is with her.

From the big city we head to Ali and the quaint little town of Williamstown, MA. There’s not much to do there but hang out on the street. So they go to her dead grandmother’s house. For dinner, they go to meet her mom, sister, and brother. Last time she brought a guy home, her mom did not approve, and that was the end of that. Ali’s family does not seem overly skeptical about Jake, and he does not end up getting the third degree. If he asked her today, she would say yes. We normally don’t hear that for at least one more week.

Tenley’s hometown of Newberg, OR is next. As they chat by the lake, she brings up her ex-husband, who she says let someone else plan most of his life. Jake runs most everything past his parents. She brings him to the dance studio she grew up in, and she has choreographed a dance for him, something her ex was never interested in (yeah, I get the feeling we’re going to hear about that guy a lot). Jake expects cautiousness when he meets her dad, mom, and sister. The last time she was there, she told her parents that her ex was not coming back. Watching last season, her father said he wished she’d meet that guy. Jake’s got a question for her mom: is Tenley ready to go down that road again, having just gotten divorced in the last year. Her warning for him: she’ll have emotional spill overs for a while. His last question is for her father: can he marry his daughter?

Vienna gets the last hometown date in Sanford, FL. They also get a boat ride on the river she grew up on. She wishes him luck with her father, who hasn’t liked either of the guys she brought home in the past. They meet her father, mother, and apparently sister. Vienna and her dad are in tears the second she walks in the door. She’s fallen for Jake, something she hasn’t done before. Her father expects her to be treated like a princess.

Jake gets a knock on the door when he’s relaxing in his room. A tearful Ali is at the door. Either she stays there, or she goes back to work. I saw this twist last season. His advice to her is to weigh which decision would be the bigger regret. He can’t guarantee her she’ll get the ring. She guesses she’ll let him know at the rose ceremony.

As the rose ceremony begins, Ali asks to talk to Chris. She still doesn’t know what to do. Basically, she doesn’t want to give an answer until Jake lets her know she will survive the axe. After listening to her whine for a while, he finally breaks his stance and tells her he doesn’t want her to go because he will not send her packing. That said, she just wants a little bit more time. Oh, can we find a way to draw this out any more? After some more consideration, she says she has to go. Surely she already knew that before putting him and herself through this.

This begs the question: which of the other three girls was going to get cut?

Oh, and next week, Jake gets a call from Ali. Oh geez.

Lost Season 6 Episode 2

Lost Season 6 Episode 1 was a tale of two cities. On the one hand was a group of people who landed as scheduled. On the other was a group of people still trapped on the island, including dead Juliet and dying Sayid.

Jack gets paged when the flight lands. There’s been a mix up involving the “cargo” he checked in Sydney. The coffin was never put on the plane. It’s not there, and they don’t know when it will arrive because they’re not exactly sure where it is.

Sawyer stays behind to bury Juliet, while the others go to the temple with Hurley to try to save Sayid. Underground, things start to go wrong. Kate disappears. Hurley starts yelling. Then Jack gets punched.

Kate asks the agent for permission to go to the bathroom. He reluctantly agrees, and there’s good reason for his reluctance, as she immediately starts breaking herself out of those cuffs. He discovers something is wrong but not in time to prevent her from smashing the door into his face and stealing his gun.

Since Miles talks to dead people, Sawyer wants him to find out what Juliet wanted to tell him before she died. She wanted to tell him: it worked.

The rest of the group are being escorted by a bunch of people with guns, who take them to the temple. They’re instructed to shoot them, until Hurley says that Jacob sent them. After opening the guitar case and reading what’s inside, they take Sayid to the spring. Seeing as how he carried the case across the ocean and through time, Hurley would like an explanation. If Sayid dies, they’re all in a lot of trouble.

Jin’s being held up at the airport. His case full of money has attracted the attention of security. Sun pretends she doesn’t speak any English, and Jin hasn’t learned either, not having been on the island.

Sayid is brought into the spring, where he’s held underwater. They can’t let him up until the hourglass runs out. After what appears to be too long, they let him up. Then they say he’s dead.

Kate finds an escape to go outdoors, where she’s made to wait in line for a cab. During her wait, she’s spotted, so she hops in the first cab she sees. He already has a customer, Claire, but Kate’s gun gives him the hint that she wants him to step on the gas.

When Hurley reveals that Jacob is dead, the entire place goes on full scale alert.

The black smoke (aka John Locke) wants the one thing that John Locke didn’t: he wants to go home.

Sawyer has decided he no longer intends to kill Jack. Rather, he’ll just let him suffer there like the rest of them.

Jack, whose father’s body is “in transit,” meets Locke at the airport. He lost a bag of knives. After they talk, Jack says he’s a spinal surgeon, and nothing’s irreversible.

Locke beats up and carries Richard away. He’s very disappointed in all of them. As he’s leaving, he passes his body on the ground.

Jack gets a “polite” request to have a conversation with the others. Either he goes with them willingly, or he’ll be dragged away. They’re gonna have to do this the hard way then. But with Sayid waking up and all, that interrupts the party.

Lost Season 6 Episode 1

Lost Season 5 left off with Juliet setting off a hydrogen bomb. The theory was that, if they do that, the flight lands as scheduled.

We start off the final season back on the plane, which hits turbulence. After some bumps, the captain apologizes for the rough ride and promises things will go smoothly from then on.

When Bernard comes back from the bathroom, Jack heads and checks out a cut he’s got on his neck. Upon returning, he bumps into Desmond. Do they know each other?

Kate wakes up in not quite as a happy a place. She’s up a tree in the jungle. When she climbs down, she runs into Miles, and he, too, is having trouble hearing. She says they’re back. If only he knew what she was talking about. Then they discover Jack and Sawyer on the ground at the hatch. Sawyer’s none too pleased that Jack was wrong and Juliet’s dead.

Back on the plane, everybody’s just having a normal flight. Kate’s still a prisoner. Hurley’s still the luckiest guy alive.

Hurley, Sayid, and Sylar wake up at the van. Sayid’s not doing so well and needs a doctor. Meanwhile, they hear a voice from under the rubble. Juliet’s not so dead after all.

Jin continues to control his wife Sun. Locke is sitting on the plane next to Boone, who we haven’t seen in a while. I hear he’s a vampire now. Locke’s convinced they could survive a crash in the water.

Having killed Jacob, Ben keeps starting at the fire. Why didn’t he fight back? Outside, Sun and Frank are with Richard, whose people say they’re the good guys. At Locke’s request, Ben goes outside to get Richard to come talk to John… who he finds is the body on the ground.

Hurley meets Jacob, the guy who gave him the ticket that landed him on that island. He’s also the guy who happened to die an hour ago. Never mind that, though. Sayid, who’s dying on the ground, needs to be saved by being brought to the temple.

The flight attendant calls for a doctor. Charlie went into the bathroom half an hour ago and is not responding, and they can’t get the door unlocked. Perhaps Sayid can be of assistance by kicking the door down. Charlie’s not breathing, but Jack pulls out a bag of heroine that was stuck in his throat and saves him.

After clearing the debris, Sawyer climbs down to find Juliet, who’s not dead but knows that the plan didn’t work.

Ben’s dragged back inside at gunpoint. Locke is in there as promised, but he breaks the news that Jacob is dead. So now they want to kill him. That cloud of black smoke coming toward them isn’t going to allow that to happen. After the guys are all taken care of, Locke apologizes to Ben for having had to see him like that.

Juliet tells Sawyer she needs to tell him something important, but that’s the last thing she says to him, for which he blames the doc.

Charlie, who’s now being escorted in handcuffs, is not happy to have been saved by Jack. He was supposed to die. As for Kate, she, too, is marched off the plane in cuffs. Locke, meanwhile, awaits assistance to be wheeled off the plane. For some, their little island paradise was not so bad.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 13

As Stefan pretended to be helping Damon gain access to the tomb in The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 12, two other vampires, Anna and Ben, surfaced, also looking for a way in.

Back in 1864, Katherine’s having herself a little killing spree, teaching Damon how he’s supposed to behave when she turns him.

Damon arrives to greet the less than fully clothed couple in bed. He assigns Elena to journal duty, explaining that the grimoire is kind of like a witch’s cookbook.

Katherine finds out that the townspeople are ingesting vervain, an indication that they’re on to them. Regardless, she does not intend to leave because she likes it there. Like the brothers, Anna is there, too.

Anna doesn’t seem too fond of her new friend Ben, who she chose because he was a sad small town bartender who lacked purpose.

As Alaric’s in school reading the journal, he gets a pair of visitors, with both Stefan and Anna stopping by. It’s Stefan he actually runs into. Stefan suggests having a seat. He may want to listen. He’s there in town because a vampire killed his wife. As for the journal, it’s on his desk. At least it was.

Back to the old days, Damon’s and Stefan’s father approaches them looking for help. They have a plan to kill the vampires, who do exist.

Alaric is well aware of Stefan’s brother. Who does he think killed his wife? He’d like to find her body, which they never found.

Damon has some advice for Jeremy about Anna: hot trumps weird.

Bonnie would die for Elena, a bit of information Ben may find useful.

It turns out Mr. Saltzman made a copy of the journal, which he was kind enough to “loan” Stefan.

Giuseppe, Stefan’s father, wanted to carry his secrets to the grave with him. Might want to go dig that thing up then.

Katherine bit Stefan, who’s been fed vervain by his father. When she collapses, he’s instructed to turn on her and forget everything he feels about her.

Going with Jeremy to meet Anna, Damon realizes he already knows her. If he wants the same thing she does, he’s going to have to help her. Well, that’s her theory anyway. Too bad he works alone.

Stefan and Elena rob his father’s grave, and they find the grimoire as expected. Of course, using his newfound knowledge that he obtained from Anna’s journal reading, Damon shows up to make it a threesome, or at least a twosome with a third wheel. Stefan’s got a choice. Hand over the book, or they can both have a vampire girlfriend that looks like Katherine again. They make the trade.

As Katherine’s being hauled away, Damon blames his brother for her capture. Anna’s on the scene, and she watches her mom get shot.

American Idol Season 9 Episode 8

In Denver, we saw Casey James, Haeley Vaughn, Danelle Hayes, and Mark Labriola in American Idol Season 9 Episode 7. Tonight we get the final auditions before Hollywood week.

Jessica Furney is returning one year later with a new idea: sing Footprints in the Sand by Leona Lewis, a song co-written by Simon Cowell (and three other people).

Amanda Shectman does voices. Throughout the audition (and afterward), she seems to be more interested in an acting gig, and she’d like to thank the academy. She’s got a good voice that probably belongs in the theater instead, but she gets through to Hollywood anyway.

Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox are through to the next round.

Lacey Brown is amongst the reunion show crowd, but she actually made it somewhere last season, reaching the top 50.

Stephanie Fisher is back. For a 7th time. She’s not getting any better, or if she is, I don’t want to see the original attempts.

Rachel Hubbard, Thaddeus Johnson, and Genesis Moore are among this year’s group of 16 year olds going to Hollywood.

Adrian Chandtchi is 6’8″ at age 17. The judges believe there is a small schoolboy trapped inside him, perhaps because he’s eaten one.

Michael Lynche just found out he’s got his first child on the way, and he is through to Hollywood.

Didi Benami is auditioning in memory of her best friend. She does a good job of containing her emotions for a while, until breaking down during the somewhat positive judging.

Aaron Kelly got adopted by his aunt and uncle at a young age, rather than being being taken into social services. He sings The Climb by Miley Cyrus. Interesting. He could well be this year’s David Archuleta.

Kimberly Bishop plans to recycle and help kids in Africa, but she’ll need to fund those efforts with something other than her singing career.

Shaddaii Harris makes Simon allergic to Fallin’ by Alicia Keys.

Hope Johnson didn’t know she was poor growing up, just thinking that a lot of kids didn’t eat dinner. She sings I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. She’s got potential.

American Idol Season 9 Episode 7

Dallas brought us Lloyd Thomas, Kimberly Carver, Erica Rhodes, Dave Pittman, and Todrick Hall in American Idol Season 9 Episode 6. Tonight we head to Denver, where Chris Daughtry was discovered. Victoria Beckham returns as a guest judge.

Mark Labriola is told he looks like Jack Black, the ugliest guy in Hollywood. He sings Tempted by Squeeze. The judges are pleasantly surprised.

Kimberly Kerbow is there with her 5 year old daughter. She sings The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson. Simon worries she is trouble, but she is through to the next round.

Danelle Hayes hosts karaoke and sings in a cover band. She’s crying almost immediately after walking in the room but pulls it together and sings I’m the Only One by Melissa Etheridge. Kara says this was the most moving audition, which people will look for.

Casey James was in a motorcycle accident at age 21. Despite the pain, he continues to play guitar. Simon calls it a bad audition, but the girls like his look. The judges are in agreement that he needs to work on his personality. Then Kara gets him to start stripping. To back up the girls, Randy says yes.

Tori Kelly, 16, sings Gravity by John Mayer. Simon thought she was almost annoying, but he’s again outnumbered 3-1. Victoria says that was the best voice of the day.

Austin Paul’s 42nd goal in life is to make it to Hollywood. Well, looks like he’ll be stopped at 41. The judges want to knock him off his pedestal by saying no.

Kenny Everett says he’s the world’s best singer. So pretty much we can expect this to suck. He gets stuck on the same thing repeatedly like a jukebox that needs to be kicked. Nonetheless, he continues to believe he’s the greatest, and he takes his torture out into the lobby.

Nicci Nix is currently living in Italy. X Factor Italy probably would have been a shorter trip. Simon just wants to know if she’s eaten any helium. The judges are surprised that her singing voice does not sound like a cartoon character, and she is through to Hollywood.

Haeley Vaughn has a goal of being a successful black pop country singer. Simon likes that she’s different.

Next up. Bikini guy. Unlike bikini girl, he’s not hot enough to pull this off.

The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 5

Miggy and Migdalia had a competition to see who could be the nastiest in The Biggest Loser Season 9 Episode 4. In the end, Migdalia was narrowly voted out.

When she goes to her room, Miggy’s an emotional wreck. At 2:51AM, we hear someone from production say they’ve called 911. Miggy is suffering from acute abdominal pain.

It’s been a month. What that means is that the first two teams eliminated are back. Having placed last in the first competition, the yellow and blue teams were booted in a cruel twist, but they have a second chance based on what they’ve done while they were at home.

They’re not heading right to the scale. Instead, Bob and Jillian will get their hands on them first for a last chance workout. This is what they need because their home workouts were nothing compared to this.

The team that has the highest percentage of weight loss will return to the house, get immunity, and have the only vote this week.

Cherita: 253 pounds (-24, 8.67%)
Victoria: 319 pounds (-39, 10.89%)
Blue Total: 572 pounds (-63, 9.92%)

Sunshine: 250 pounds (-25, 9.09%)
O’Neal: 338 pounds (-51, 13.11%)
Yellow Total: 588 pounds (-76, 11.45%)

O’Neal’s huge number is 6 pounds better than the campus average. With that, the yellow team is returning to campus. The blue team will be heading back home again.

During a workout, Melissa breaks down crying, but despite saying she can’t do these leg presses Bob is making her do, she does them anyway. He tells her he’s impressed because he didn’t think she was playing the game last week since she lost so much weight even though she was immune. Granted, Jillian still thought she was playing.

Daris is not hitting his burn. Why not? Is he willing to continue being just the fat funny guy?

The challenge is to hit a tackling dummy 1000 times. The winner will get immunity; the last place finisher will get a 2 pound penalty. Each team must pick one person to represent them in the challenge. Michael, Stephanie, and John are on their own. The other teams select Lance, Sherry, Andrea, Sunshine, Sam, and Daris. Michael has figured out a way to not move his feet much at all. Andrea hopes her softball background will help. Lance and Sam are in the early lead. As they head toward the halfway mark, Michael’s creeping up on them. Sherry is leading the battle for last at this point. Eventually, Michael finally overtakes the lead around 900, and he wins immunity. Sam and Lance come close. Sherry ends up finishing last to get the penalty.

Miggy returns, having had an appendectomy. Since she has had surgery, she is only allowed to walk. So she walks and walks and walks: 13 miles the day after surgery. When she goes to see the doctor, she’s allowed to get back to business, but will have to be careful. He has bad news, though. They poured salt water into her, probably 8-9 additional pounds. Her odds of surviving the week may have just gone down to slim to none.

John has switched from the pool to the gym and is now working out with everybody else.

At the last chance workout, Ashley’s just taking it easy, whether she has the disadvantage or not. After Jillian beats her up, she reveals that her problem is that she lost her father, who treated her badly because of her weight. Rather than dealing with her emotions, she’s ballooned up to 374 pounds (and she also drinks and smokes)

O’Neal intends to be a game player. He’ll do whatever it takes to get to the end.

Heroes Season 4 Episode 18

After making a fake deal with HRG in Heroes Season 4 Episode 17, Samuel set him up and made it look like he attacked the carnival. Meanwhile, Parkman trapped Sylar all alone without another soul in his world.

Sylar hears Peter’s calls, and he greets the first person he’s seen in three years. Not liking the thought that somebody’s in his head, he swears to kill Peter. Why would the brother of the man he murdered come to his aid? Because he needs someone to save Emma from killing thousands of people.

Samuel wants Damien to reveal HRG’s memories. They return to 1985 and a used car salesman. In black and white. Turns out he had another wife and family. At least he was going to. A man robbed him using his powers and killed his first wife before she could give birth.

Peter discovers that perhaps Sylar is happy to be stuck in this dream world. That said, maybe he is willing to help break through the wall to Parkman’s basement.

Lauren runs into Emma, who helps her before being warned that Samuel’s done terrible things and now is trying to get his people against a common enemy. Samuel would like a word.

Claire doesn’t need to see any more, but that’s not going to stop Damien. A year later, HRG confronts and kills a special in self defense. That would be his first. In his next memory, he gets a visit from the company. They’re impressed. So impressed they’d like him to come work for them. Two years later, after three more deaths, they need him to make a change. Take a wife and start a family. Perhaps he could go after that waitress named Sandra who’s serving them.

But that’s all in the past. He’s not working for them any more. Flash forward to Thanksgiving weekend and his visit to Gretchen. She must work with him to get Claire back from the carnival and into a normal life. Otherwise, he will erase Gretchen’s memory.

Back at the great wall, Peter’s still hitting it. No progress in he doesn’t want to know how many days.

Lauren warns Samuel that his family’s going to get hurt. He’s just wondering what happens when he brings all the specials there with him. His brother told him he could move mountains or cities. The world should have treated him better.

Like Peter, Sylar has decided he wants out, too. So now he starts swinging a sledgehammer.

Claire would like to see the memory her father has of him shooting Lydia, knowing no such memory exists. Regardless of what she has seen, she has no desire to turn on him.

Samuel’s plan is to bring the whole show to Central Park. Not liking that she is not onboard, he sends Claire to the souvenir trailer to rescue her father, then promptly sinks it.

Eli has been left in charge of taking care of Lauren, a task he has failed at, as she has gotten away. Samuel tells him it’s not worth worrying about. There are other people he needs to deal with instead.

Peter and Sylar have been there alone for years, but Peter still hates him for killing Nathan. When he comes to the realization that Sylar’s not that guy any more, a crack emerges in the wall that allows them to get out of this nightmare world. When they bust out, they find it’s been maybe half a day. Before they can go save Emma, they’ll have to deal with Eli first, seeing as he’s waiting for them on the stairs to Parkman’s basement.

Claire and HRG are still alive. Just underground about 40 or 50 feet.
