So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 21

Nathan Trasoras and Noelle Marsh were voted out in So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Episode 20. Tonight the top 8 compete.

Ashleigh walks out with her arm in a sling. She says she’s ready to go, but they won’t clear her to dance. They want to do the MRI before allowing her to dance (they couldn’t do that before going on air?). Although she is not performing, she will still be able to receive votes for any fans who want her to advance.

Kathryn McCormack & Ryan di Lello
Style: Disco
Choreographer: Doriana Sanchez
Song: Last Dance (Samantha Ronson Remix) by Donna Summer
Adam: So much fun. Suited for someone of Ryan’s stature. Watched Kathryn become a better dancer by being on the show.
Mary: Just peaking at the right time. Ryan had perfect on point partner work.
Nigel: Style suited Kathryn. Ryan felt a little stiff.

Mollee Gray & Jakob Karr
Style: Viennese Waltz
Choreographer: Jason Gilkison
Song: Ordinary Day by Vanessa Carlton
Adam: Could have watched that for two more hours. Mollee’s blooming and peaking.
Mary: Jakob’s partnering work was fantastic. Mollee was priceless and is gaining confidence every routine.
Nigel: Everything fit together like a beautiful jigsaw puzzle. Both excellent.

Ellenore Scott & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Travis Wall
Song: Machine Gun by Portishead
Adam: Passionate, exciting, and awesome.
Mary: Ellenore was so dynamic and fearless. Legacy was amazing.
Nigel: The most dangerous routine of the season. Real props for that.

Russell Ferguson (accompanied by Shane’s assistant Rachel)
Style: Hip hop
Choreographer: Shane Sparks
Song: Too Much Booty 2 (Bobby J Remix) by Soundmaster T & Jah-Rista feat. Korveil
Adam: Smoking out there. Super high performance level and great energy.
Mary: Hard hitting, so on point.
Nigel: Gave Shane everything he wanted, plus a performance.

Kathryn McCormack & Ryan di Lello
Style: ChaCha
Choreographer: Jason Gilikson
Song: Put Your Hands on Me by Joss Stone
Adam: Very connected. Kathryn is surging. Ryan was so hot in there.
Mary: On fire. Chemistry, power, effortless. Two tickets on the hot tamale train.
Nigel: Kathryn looked like a Latin ballroom dancer. Magical together.

Mollee Gray & Jakob Karr
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Joey Dowling
Song: Easy Street (Samantha Ronson Remix) from Annie (original TV soundtrack)
Adam: Really showed off and had great performances. Mollee was great, and Jakob’s one of the best dancers ever on the show.
Mary: Mollee really captured the style. Best partnership for that dance.
Nigel: Mollee should go to Broadway. Jakob is like Joel Grey.

Ellenore Scott & Jonathan “Legacy” Perez
Style: Hip hop
Choreographers: Tabitah & Napoleon Dumo
Song: People Are Strange (District 78 Remix) by The Doors
Adam: Didn’t push them.
Mary: Slightly disappointed. Didn’t really hit.
Nigel: Style over substance.

Following his solo, Ryan asks that people vote for his wife. I don’t think he has anything to worry about. For someone who started off as the underdog, Ashleigh’s proved to be a favorite.

Russell Ferguson (accompanied by Nakul’s assistant Alicia)
Style: Bollywood
Choreographer: Nakul dev Mahajan
Song: Spirit of Rangeela from Rangeela (original soundtrack)
Adam: Blew joy out of every pore.
Mary: Bursted on the stage and excited everybody.
Nigel: Magnetic quality that draws the audience in.

The Biggest Loser Season 8 Winner

Rudy and Danny finished on top in The Biggest Loser Season 8 Episode 12, which leaves the fate of Amanda and Liz in America’s hands. Once America’s vote has been revealed, it’s on to the final three and a battle to be The Biggest Loser 8 winner.

Amanda has won America’s vote to enter the final three.

Now that we know that, the other players will weigh in to compete for the title of at home winner.

Alexandra: 309 pounds (-91, 29.45%)

Antoine: 215 pounds (-152, 41.42%)

Antoine has managed to set a competitive mark to beat.

Sean: 289 pounds (-155, 34.91%)

Julio: 227 pounds (-180, 44.23%)

That puts Julio in the lead.

Mo: 263 pounds (-92, 25.92%)

Dina: 174 pounds (-79, 31.23%)

Abby: 147 pounds (-100, 40.49%)

Tracey: 132 pounds (-118, 47.20%)

Tracey takes the lead with a percentage could be tough to beat.

Shay: 304 pounds (-172, 36.13%)

Daniel: 201 pounds (-111, 35.58%)

Rebecca: 140 pounds (-139, 49.82%)

With that, Rebecca, who’s gone blonde for some reason, takes the lead.

Allen: 209 pounds (-116, 35.69%)

Liz: 176 pounds (-91, 34.06%)

Rebecca is The Biggest Loser At Home winner and is now $100,000 richer.

Shay has been invited back to the season 9 finale. For every pound she loses, Subway will offer her $1,000.

Antoine invites his girlfriend from the season Alexandra on the stage so he can propose. Seems like they’re rushing, but I give them better odds than someone on The Bachelor.

Over 3.5 million pounds have been pledged in the Pound for Pound Challenge, which has resulted in that amount of food being donated to a local food bank.

Amanda: 163 pounds (-87, 34.80%)

As expected, it’s going to come down to a battle between the guys.

Rudy: 208 pounds (-234, 52.94%)

In any other season, I’d say that Rudy’s already won, but I’m expecting Danny to give him a run for his money.

Danny: 191 pounds (-239, 55.58%)

The Biggest Loser Season 9: Couples 3 will premiere Tuesday January 5, 2010 on NBC.

The Amazing Race 15 Winner

The Globetrotters made a deal with the brothers, which would be the last deal they made before being eliminated from the race in The Amazing Race 15 Episode 11. That brings us down to the final three: Meghan Rickey and her boyfriend Cheyne Whitney, Dan McMillen and his brother Sam McMillen, and Ericka Dunlap and her husband Brian Kleinschmidt. One of these teams will be The Amazing Race 15 winner.

Teams depart in the order in which they arrived.

First: Meghan & Chenye – 11:10AM
Second: Sam & Dan – 12:08PM
Third: Brian & Ericka – 3:15PM

The final destination city is Las Vegas, Nevada, nearly 6000 miles away. The whole race is going to come down to some tasks in one city. The huge gap Brian & Ericka have allowed is moot (exactly as the producers planned no doubt), as the flight leaves after 6. The gap is so big that the other two teams don’t even know who they’re competing against.

Sam & Dan have a goal: don’t yell at each other. I suspect that’s too much to ask for.

When they land, they will travel to the Graceland Wedding Chapel to get their next clue from the king. To do so, they’ll have to interrupt some couple getting married.

The next stop is Mandalay Bay. Brian & Ericka break away from the pack, as their cab driver believes he’s got a faster way. He is right, and they arrive at the road block first. The road block is a face first rappel off the hotel, 600 feet down.

Road block (in order of arrival): Ericka, Cheyne, Sam

Another hotel is next, The Mirage, where they will join the cast of Cirque du Soleil’s Love. One team member must launch another member in the air using bungee cords to retrieve a bouquet of flowers. All the teams bunch up here, so it comes down to who can finish the task quicker. Meghan & Cheyne complete the task first. Immediately after, Ericka proceeds to yell at Brian. She wants him to do it instead. Let her switch. Or else. Dan grabs it next. This pushes Ericka pretty close to a breakdown, so she agrees to switch back. Whether she’s on the ground or in the air, Ericka continues to slowly lose it. And lose it some more. After much drama, she completes the task.

After that, they must figure out the most famous casino in the country of Monaco, Monte Carlo. Yeah, it’s off to another hotel. Meghan & Cheyne ask a cab driver, who tells them it’s The Venetian. They’re not sure about this answer, so they just drive off hoping to figure it out. Sam & Dan just decide to follow them. On the way there, Sam & Dan call a hotel and get the correct answer. As for Meghan & Cheyne, they continue to get incorrect answers. Luckily for Brian & Ericka, they know the answer to the clue without hesitation, which may get them back into this. Meghan & Cheyne end up driving to The Venetian, where they’re told to go to Monte Carlo.

Upon arrival at the Monte Carlo, their task is to count $1 million in poker chips. This has the potential to be frustrating and time consuming. Brian & Ericka arrive to see only the brothers there. All teams are there just worrying about counting now. If anyone can do it right the first time, it should bode well for them. Sam wants his brother to stop rushing and calm down. Doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Seeing Brian & Ericka have finished, Dan insists that they just hand over the chips and let the person there start counting. Meghan & Cheyne are also done. So who’s right? Meghan & Cheyne are correct. Sam & Dan, however, are incorrect. Brian & Ericka also are incorrect. On their second attempt, Sam & Dan are correct. Brian & Ericka are incorrect again, though.

Next up is the MGM Grand hotel (are there no other landmarks in Vegas?), where they will be told where the finish line is by Mr. Las Vegas. The finish line is at Wayne Newton’s house.

As much as they try to make it a mystery, it’s pretty obvious that the team that finished the counting task has it in the bag. The Amazing Race 15 winners are Meghan & Cheyne. This was the right team to win, particularly among the three remaining choices, as they ran the best race. The other two teams had more compelling stories but were weighed down by bickering. Sam & Dan finish in second place, with Brian & Ericka coming in third.

The Amazing Race 16, which is filming now, is expected to be making its return in midseason.

Survivor: Amazon Episode 11

Deena suggested voting out Alex in Survivor: Amazon Episode 9 because he’s a threat, and the backlash against her resulted in her own elimination.

Jenna, Heidi, Rob, and Alex believe they’re on vacation, and the fact that they’re in the majority will allow them to relax. The remaining three members of the tribe are tired of all of them.

It’s time for the Survivor auction. Each person is given $500. A piece of cheesecake is up first. Heidi grabs the opening bid of $120, with nobody else expressing interest. The next item is covered with an opening bid of $40. Matt bids $40. $60 Rob. $80 Matt. $100 Butch. $120 Christy. $160 Alex. $200 Butch. $220 Jenna. $240 Alex. He’s given a choice between that covered item he bid on or the other covered item. He goes with what he bought, turning down lasagne, in favor of manioc flour. The next item is covered. $100 from Rob. $120 Jenna. $140 Heidi. $200 Matt. $240 Christy. $280 Jenna. $300 Matt. $320 Christy. $340 Jenna. $360 Matt. $380 Jenna. $400 Matt. Hell of a gamble. He gets a cheeseburger and fries. The next item is peanutbutter and chocolate, and it will not require Jenna and Heidi to take their clothes off. Everybody jumps on the first bid. Jenna quickly ups the stakes to $200. $220 Christy. $240 Jenna. $260 Heidi. $280 Jenna. $300 Christy. $320 Jenna. Jenna gets some more peanutbutter and chocolate. The next item is scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes, and it comes with something else. Butch opens the bidding at $360. Rob bids $380. $400 Butch. In addition to the meal, the surprise is a bed and pillow big enough for one to take back to camp. Rob buys a protein bar. Matt gets a protein shake. Heidi gets the chocolate cake. A covered item is next. Rob bids $100. $140 Alex. $160 Rob. $200 Alex. $220 Rob. $240 Alex. He gets himself another covered item, this time a steak and baked potato. Letters from home are the next up for grabs. $80 Christy. $100 Jenna. $200 Heidi. $240 Christy. $260 Heidi. Christy bids $300, despite not having had any food so far. Heidi bids $320. Christy bids $340. It’s obvious she’s going to win this bidding war because nobody else either wants it enough or has the money. With that, Jenna breaks down because her mom is sick, which we all remember from Survivor All Stars. Jeff’s taken in by the tears, so he agrees to put another letter up for bid. Jenna bids $80. $100 Heidi. $120 Jenna. She gets her letter from home. The auction is over.

Following the auction, rather than being grateful that Jeff and Christy allowed her to have a second chance, Jenna takes the opportunity to complain about Christy outbidding Heidi. Apparently, she was supposed to just lay down and let Jenna have the letter. If Jenna wanted the letter so bad, she should have not bid for anything else.

Matt and Butch have been listening to Rob all along, but now they’re seemingly starting to think for themselves. They want to get Rob back on their side. They know it should be obvious to him that the other side will get rid of him first chance they get.

If it weren’t obvious, Alex makes it obvious. He says that the two girls aren’t going to vote against each other no matter what, so when it gets down to that, Alex will have to vote for Rob. It’s a little early to be planning that far ahead to begin with, but actually vocalizing it is a mistake. Whether they’re his friends or not, Rob’s playing the game and has been the whole time.

Rob goes up to Matthew to tell him the truth for a change. He and multiple others have been trying to get rid of him for a while. With that said, Alex needs to go. Rob knows his alliance is very arrogant, so he should be able to get everybody else onboard easily. Matt is fine with this plan. Christy is very willing to get rid of Alex as well.

They get treemail that should let them know it’s the competition where someone always gets offended by at least one of the answers. The immunity challenge is to guess what the majority of tribe members said.

Who would you trust with your life?
Butch. Butch, Rob, and Jenna are correct.

Which tribe member uses sex appeal as a weapon?
Jenna. Heidi, Matthew, Christy, and Alex get a point.

Who is the most honest?
Matthew. He gets a point.

Who would never survive on their own?
Jenna. Matthew, Rob, Christy, and Butch are correct.

Who most needs therapy?
Matthew. He’s okay with that. Matthew, Rob, and Heidi are correct.

Who would you most like to see pose nude in a magazine?
Heidi. Jenna, Alex, Christy, Rob, and Butch are correct.

Who in the tribe do you have a crush on?
Heidi. Everybody except Matthew is correct (he guessed himself). Rob wins immunity.

Rob’s got a choice. Does he get rid of Alex and improve his odds but potentially piss off three jury members, or does he get rid of Matthew and guarantee himself fourth place?

Survivor: Samoa Episode 12

Rather than force a tie, John helped Foa Foa and Shambo to vote Laura out in Survivor: Samoa Episode 10.

It’s time for food, and we see a gavel, so it’s obviously the Survivor auction. There is no sharing money or food. Each person receives $500. The first item is a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich. Natalie bids $200. Wow. The next item remains covered. $80 Jaison. $100 Monica. $120 John. $140 Jaison. $200 Shambo. $220 Dave. $240 Shambo. Shambo has bought herself sea noodles and slug guts. The next item is covered. Dave bids $300. Jaison bids $320. Monica bids $340. She gets a whole roasted chicken. Well worth it. The next item is a significant advantage in the next immunity challenge. John bids $100. $140 Natalie. $200 John. $260 Jaison. $300 John. Jaison bids $500 to make sure nobody else gets it, keeping it in Foa Foa’s possession. The next item is a burger, fries, and beer. Without hesitation, Mick bids $500. The next item is a clue to the location of the hidden immunity idol. We really need another one? Is 4 not enough? John bids $100. $120 Natalie. $200 John. He gets the clue. The Survivor shower is the next prize. John bids $100. $120 Natalie. She gets to take a shower. Apple pie is next. Tasty but no protein. Brett bids $180. $300 John. He gets the pie. Jeff gives John an option. Keep the pie or give it up and divide up a whole pie among four people. He’ll eat the pie. Everybody else who’s holding on to their money may want to consider starting bidding before this thing is over. Too late. The auction is over.

With his hidden idol clue in hand, John goes searching.

Shambo’s grown way too attached to these chickens. The bad news is that the rest of the tribe wants to kill them. Once the chickens are dead, she refuses to listen to anybody else. She will be cooking it her way. End of story.

Shambo, who believes she has psychic dreams, had a dream they voted Dave off. He was the one who told Shambo not to boil the chicken, which made her more mad than she’s been in the month they’ve been out there. Russell knows she’s an emotional player who just needs to get mad at someone as justification for voting them out.

For the immunity challenge, they will have a rope attached to a log. Every 3 minutes, they will switch hands and move one knot lower on the rope, increasing the weight. Last person standing wins. Jaison’s advantage will be to move his hand up two knots at any point during the challenge. After 9 minutes, Jaison already uses his advantage. Pretty early. Too early? After 21 minutes, Shambo is out. Russell follows her. Difficult to believe. The next step is the last. They no longer have any knots, except for Jaison, who will stay that way because they don’t have any further to advance. Monica drops out next. John follows. Brett is next. It’s Foa Foa against Dave. Mick is out. After a pretty damn impressive showing, Natalie is next out. That leaves Jaison up against Dave, with Jaison having a two knot advantage. Dave falls. Jaison wins immunity. That auction paid off.

John proposes sticking to the plan. Vote out a Foa Foa. Russell plays along and suggests Mick.

John says he’s 100% sure that Russell has the hidden immunity idol. Yeah, he plays along with that, too. Following this discussion, Russell has decided he’d like to get rid of John. So he approaches Dave and tells him he’s in danger and should vote out John to save himself. This is just playing with fire for no good reason.

Russell then goes to Mick and asks who he’d get rid of if he had a choice. He picks John. Jaison says that, if they do that, Shambo’s gonna dump them, thereby throwing away their advantage next time. Losing two votes by playing recklessly is exactly how Galu got into this hole they’re in now.

At tribal council, Shambo seems shocked that those around her are thinking strategically. She was under the impression they were going to get rid of Dave because she no longer likes him.

Survivor: Amazon Episode 9

The plan of getting rid of the men of Tambaqui continued, and Dave was voted out in Survivor: Amazon Episode 8.

Rob continues to stir the pot with Matthew, trying to send him on wild goose chases with random lies about what’s going on at camp. In turn, Matt is going to Butch to let him know what’s allegedly going on. The interesting thing here is that Matt’s going to have Rob’s back, so it does seem odd that Rob is sabotaging an ally, even an unstable one.

In treemail, they get weapons: bows and arrows, darts, and spears. Matt seems to be killing it on each of them, but he says he’s thinking of not trying his hardest because he doesn’t want people to think he’s a physical threat. Too late for that. Only other person who really stands out in that respect is Alex. The reward challenge starts off with blow darts. The top 4 move to spear throwing. The top 2 then move to the final round, the bow and arrow. Reward is a trip to a Survivor cafe, with coffee and pastries. Christy scores 3 with the blow dart. Matthew gets a bullseye for 10. So much for not trying. Butch gets 5. Rob scores 3. Alex gets 7. Jenna gets 3. Deena scores 5. That eliminates Jenna, Christy, and Rob. Heidi doesn’t hit the board, so Matt, Alex, Butch, and Deena advance to spears. Matt hits the bullseye again. Deena misses. Butch lands on the board. Alex gets pretty close to the middle to join Matthew in the final round of bow and arrow. Matt lands on the board, but there’s plenty of room for Alex to beat him, which he does to win reward. Obviously, Alex won’t be alone. He invites Jenna to join him. Dude, at least try to think logically. He later says he promised her.

The interesting thing that comes up during their time together is that they’re not sure about Deena, who doesn’t fit in with the younger people. They fear she’s always trying to work an angle, which she is. They make it out of there with two cookies each for the rest of the tribe. Rob suggests eating Matt’s and Butch’s cookies since they’re off fishing and wouldn’t know.

Deena noticed something during that challenge. Alex is a threat. She suggests they pick him off if Matt wins immunity. Deena’s instructions to Heidi are to not say anything to Jenna. So of course Heidi tells Jenna, who she knows will tell Alex. Like Deena, it doesn’t appear that he wants to target her first. Instead, he still wants to get rid of Matt next.

Having been bitten by some insect, Heidi can no longer bend her knee. In a physical competition, she’s probably in trouble.

Awaiting them at the immunity challenge is a nice Amazonian menu. This can’t be good. First up are Amazonian grasshoppers. The last two from each round are out. Matt is the first one done. Christy’s about to lose her lunch. Deena is the next one done. Alex is good. Jenna quits with minimal effort. Rob is the next one done. Butch follows. Christy struggles her way through before upchucking, beating Heidi by a second. The next dish is 10 babasu worms. Matthew, Deena, Alex, and Christy advance. Rob’s out but finishes the meal anyway. The next plate is five beetles. Christy’s struggling again. Matt is the first one done for the third consecutive time. Deena is the next one to finish. The final course is living beetle larva. Feeling completely safe and grossed out (and likely knowing she can’t beat Matt anyway), Deena doesn’t even try. Matt swallows it whole to win immunity.

When they get back, the Deena/Alex battle resumes. Jenna is not happy.

Rob’s the swing vote that has both camps trusting him (his vote will also be the same as Matt’s and Butch’s). Ultimately, with Rob’s secret final two deal with Deena, Alex’s hours are looking numbered. Deena and Alex both think they have the exact same people to vote the other one off.

With 6 votes, Deena has been voted off the island. The lone person outside the circle was Christy. With this move, Rob runs the risk of having handed over a great deal of power to a threesome that may be loyal to him but will pick him last.
